And Kimbrel was a huge reach

The priority on pitchers is a big difference between this draft and last year's.

Having my picks 'together' certainly encouraged me to look at pitching earlier than I would probably have done if I was in the middle of the pack.

When a player is undrafted/released, they'll be on waivers for three days. This will allow teams to make bids on players. Whoever bids the highest will earn the player. If nobody bids in three days, the player becomes a free agent and anyone can claim him.

Perhaps this is a better example:

Let's say my team is taking (likely) and I release Aaron Hill out of blind, drunken frustration. Let's also say I release him on July 1st.

Now, assume you and Srar are the only two teams interested in getting Hill ASAP. Srar bids $5 (out of a team's $100 preset budget), you bid $6. At the end of the three day waiting period (in this case, July 4th), you'd win Aaron Hill.
