For PS3 users, a post on GTA Forums:

After waiting on hold for an hour I was able to get through to [Rockstar] tech support, and I'm guessing by actually being polite after the plethora of nasty calls they have recieved I was informed that GTAO for ps3 may take 2-3 days to have fixed to a playable point. Though I'm a little bit upset I'm glad I at least got an answer, the guy even told me to just keep trying and I should eventually get in!

Machinima Insider's also apparently reporting that it may be more like a week for a fix for PS3 users.

You guys are pissed that you can't even get in a game? I can't even start GTA anymore... I put the disc in, get a message saying I need to download an update for the game, then... nothing. Just a black screen, can't quit or do anything. Have to pull the power out of my PS3 just to turn it off :/

I've had about an 80% success rate of getting online. I've also had 100% success rate of Larz killing me by 'accident'.

I remember dying about seven times last night. Once by a stranger, twice by cops and four 'deaths by Larz'. Which can be broken down into:

2 pistol whips mid-robbery

1 running me over in the getaway car as I exited a hold-up

1 'jokey' knifing for no reason

Nah, I am forgiving while the stakes are low. Oh ,and I forgot the time you tried to off me and Myke by throwing yourself out the chopper mid-flight! Didn't work.

I might be on around 9.30 (at the earliest). We should definitely parachute off the mountain tonight.

Got on long enough to do the first race and get some clothing. Proudly sporting EWB colours!

I only need a talking dog and I would be perfect!

Still hanging at the loading screen for the tutorial race for me. May try clearing the cache, building an altar, and the other random technological voodoo people do.

Same tried a few times all but one its hanging at the loading of the first race, one time it seemed to skip the race and tell me to get to the race marker whilst i could free roam but do nothing else.

Maybe you can try to start a solo online game? I played the first race in solo online mode and I could do the race no problem.

Sadly solo is mostly all i have tried, twice tried just going in normal and that resulted in matchmaking timed out.
