I really, really hope they get Abrams or someone on board. The Dark Tower books are some of my favorites, and I'd hate to see a rubbish film adaptation.

AFAIK, Nikolaj Arcel is the attached director, which means nothing to me as I've seen nothing he has done.

From everything I can find his movies generally have favorable reviews, and he cowrote Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (the original Swedish version).

Dark Tower series seems like something that would be much more suited to a TV adaptation, unless the film is going to be a trilogy of 8 hour long films.

There was a rumor years ago that HBO was going to be producing a Dark Tower TV series and that it would lead into a series of films, but like every other DT adaptation it fell through.

A complementary series is still in development. HBO probably doesn't have the rights anymore so they're probably waiting for the ball to start rolling on the films before they start shopping the series to networks again.

Holy shit, Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey cast as Roland and MIB respectively.

I'm so nervous for this... I would have never expected McConaughey as the MIB, but I guess casting just means its likely to be happening now.
