I'm looking forward to this, and the timing is good because it takes place during the holidays. My favourite thing about the Commonwealth Games is watching the sports that aren't in the Olympics. Well, that and having "Jerusalem" as the English anthem.

On the one hand I live 90 minutes up the road and should really get down to see some of it...

On the other hand, It's going to be a giant pain in the ass to get around and I'd like to avoid as much as possible.

Atleast it'll make for some good background TV noise for the next two weeks.

Hosts Australia won the first medal of the XXI Commonwealth Games - before Wednesday's opening ceremony on the Gold Coast. Boxer Taylah Robertson is guaranteed a minimum of a bronze medal in the women's 51kg division before she has even stepped into the ring following the draw. Only seven boxers have entered the division, meaning only three quarter-finals will take place and Robertson advances straight to the semi-finals on April 13. The losing semi-finalists in boxing each get a bronze medal.

Don't tell Nigel!! The printing error has been put down to the late entry of The Gambia, where the capital is actually Banjul and they do have a population of two million.

The opening ceremony coverage has just got underway on BBC One.
