Yeah, Delaware is the same. From north to south, it's about an hour and a half, but if you go east to west, even in the wider part of the state, it only takes about 30 minutes.

That said, if you're in Delaware, you're likely at least two hours away from anything interesting, besides the beach.

30 minutes in LA traffic is not the same as 30 minutes in Delaware traffic, depending on where you are trying to get to, 30 minutes can be 45 miles, or it could be 15.

Delaware isn't real, that's why.

The only thing I remember about the old XFL was that I ended up going to the same school as He Hate Me. Oh, and the coin-toss substitute race for the ball that got everyone hurt.

Lol. Rod Smart was my favorite XFL player. But all I really remember now was him, the ball scramble, and that commercial with the cheerleaders in the locker room.

Here's hoping the new version has better uniform designs and actually uses real sports announcers. Because I highly doubt anyone wants Corey Graves or Michael Cole calling the games.

The XFL on Monday announced multiyear agreements with ESPN and Fox Sports to televise games starting with its inaugural 2020 season. XFL games will air weekly on broadcast TV (ABC and Fox) complemented by games on cable (ESPN, ESPN2, FS1 and FS2). The XFL's TV schedule will feature back-to-back games each Saturday at 2 p.m. ET and two games on Sunday afternoons.

That's a wayyyyy better TV deal than what the AAF had.

Apparently, Vince has earmarked enough money for this to lose $100m a year for three years. Then at that point, they will be looking to get a TV deal that actually pays them for the programming.

The XFL doesn’t just want to avoid the AAF’s fate. It wants to change football.

After three months of conversations, the XFL began compiling data and charting ways to improve. To speed up the game, they considered a running game clock and a play clock as short as 25 seconds (compared with the NFL’s 40-second clock). They targeted a game time of two hours and 45 minutes, with three times more action than an NFL broadcast.

For more meaningful action, they studied a CFL rule that granted a punt returner a 5-yard halo — prohibiting defenders from getting too close and requiring the receiving team to return the ball rather than call for a fair catch. They’re considering incentivizing fourth-down attempts by putting the opposing team on the 35-yard line in the event of a touchback on a punt. (In the NFL, teams get the ball at the 20.)

The group agreed that extra points have become too predictable. They’re considering a menu of options:

— Following a touchdown, a team can earn one extra point by converting a score from the 2-yard line;

— It can get 2 points by scoring from the 5-yard line;

— Or it can add three extra points by scoring from the 15 — making a touchdown potentially worth 9 points in all.

“Think about it, if a team is down by 18 with three minutes left, you won’t change the channel because it’s still a two-possession game,” said Sam Schwartzstein, the XFL’s director of football operations and a former Stanford offensive lineman. “It’d be hard, but it’s possible.”

They wanted an overtime that was short on time and high on drama, settling on a shootout-style format. Each team will line up 10 yards from the end zone and attempt a scoring play. Both squads get five opportunities, and the team that converts the most scores wins the game.

So, basically, they'll be dead after 3 years.

There's no way in hell their stance of off field issues isn't thrown right out the window to get Manziel.  He's a shithead, but he's a name and a curiosity and they're going to need those.

As long as they don't sign someone who is a piece of human trash like Ray Rice....

Ray Rice is 32 and hasn't played in 6 years, I don't think he's an option for anyone.

If he put up 1300 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards with about 10 touchdowns...someone would call.

His biggest crime according to NFL owners is his yards per carry went from like 4.5ish to 3ish.

This has nothing to do with stats. Its about being a somewhat decent human being.

Manziel partied too hard and didn't seem to give a damn about putting in the effort.

Ray Rice knocked his wife out cold in an elevator.

I could see the XFL giving Manziel a chance, and have no problem with it.

However, if Ray Rice is ever given an opportunity to play again (he won't), all he deserves is to be booed off the field.

XFL rules will allow multiple forward passes, a 3 point conversion and a terrible idea for the 2 minute warning

Does that mean the last two minutes of each half will last about twenty minutes?

The XFL will begin issuing invitations this week to draft-eligible players, a significant step in fielding an eight-team football league that will begin play in February 2020.

Most of the invited players will be culled from eight showcase events the league held this summer, featuring on-field work that was similar to the NFL combine. XFL commissioner Oliver Luck did not reveal specific names, but said the "vast majority" of this week's invitees have already spent time in professional football at some level, be it the CFL, AAF or the NFL.

Participants in the showcase events included NFL veterans such as running back Trent Richardson, quarterback Landry Jones and defensive end Kony Ealy.

"It's difficult to put together a composite guy that will be an XFL player," Luck said. "But each of them will have a unique story. In some cases, they were in a bad spot. Maybe they were a fifth-round NFL draft pick but ended up on a team with four or five really good running backs. They're all players that we believe can play quality football."

The XFL will send out draft invitations in installments to account for pending NFL roster cuts. A total of about 800 will be distributed, Luck said. Players who express interest will be subject to a background check prior to the XFL draft in October. Each team will draft 70 players. There will be no free agency, Luck said, as the league office will control distribution of any players who become available after the draft.

The XFL remains open to adding college underclassmen who are not yet eligible to play in the NFL, which prohibits teams from acquiring players who are less than three years removed from high school. Such players will need to contact the XFL after their college seasons to request eligibility for distribution to a team.

"We would review them just like we would any player," Luck said.

The XFL has scheduled a minicamp for December, followed by a three-week centralized training camp in January. The season will begin Feb. 8. Games will be televised on ABC, ESPN and Fox. The league, owned and financed by WWE founder and chairman Vince McMahon, has pledged to reimagine the game with an emphasis on a fast pace and innovation of traditional approaches to overtime, extra points and other conventions.
