  1. That was good. That is the sort of thing my dad would find interesting. I shall email it to him.
  2. Oooh. Speak of the devil! This thread must be jinxed. Maybe the next player mentioned here will be arrested for rape! Aidan McGeady.
  3. I don't dislike it or anything. They just could have finished on a better song.
  4. I think it's in London. Or maybe not. The title's just the wrong way round. Or maybe not. BBC sez it's in London.
  5. I know. I was shouting for Luno at the last song when everyone else was shouting for Flux. I don't think they heard me though because they played Flux.
  6. Yeah so I went to see Bloc Party last night and it was, in general fantastic. EXCEPT The began the encore with "Biko" - their worst song and very probably the worst song ever. They began the second encore with the painfully average "Ares". They actually bothered playing songs from their new album at all. They did not play She's Hearing Voices, Pioneers, Price of Gasoline, So Here We Are and Luno. HOWEVER They did play Halo, One Month Of Go, LIKE EATING GLASS, HELICOPTER(last song of 1st encore. Was worried they wouldnt play it.), POSITIVE TENSION, BANQUET, THIS MODERN LOVE, TWO MORE YEARS, SONG FOR CLAY, Hunting For Witches, Waiting For The 7:18, The Prayer and Uniform. Oh and Flux. Free ticket though.
  7. Yup, March 11th 2007, the first of their two shows there. Was amazing. Ah. Fantastic. I was there too. Anyway mine are: 1. Dear Catastrophe Waitress - Belle & Sebastian (2003) Not a single bad song on this album. Not even an average song. It's absolutely fantastic and quite possibly my favourite album ever. 2. Gold - Ryan Adams (2001) Another album packed full of fantastic songs. Special thing is this album has seventeen of them and I love them all. 3. We Have The Facts And We're Voting Yes - Death Cab For Cutie (2000) Despite me having this album for ages it was only recently that I really started to love it. 4. Up The Bracket - The Libertines (2002) This was in many ways the album that got me properly into music. A great energetic listen from beginning to end that still sounds fantastic every time you listen to it. 5. Camera Obscura - Let's Get Out This Country (2006) This album has only ten songs but I love them all. This is another album which I could listen to infinite times without ever getting bored of it. And honourable mentions: Spoiler: Click here to view Funeral - Arcade Fire Down In Albion - Babyshambles Silent Alarm - Bloc Party Cassadaga - Bright Eyes Let's Get Out Of This Country - Camera Obscura Narrow Stairs - Death Cab For Cutie Transatlanticism - Death Cab For Cutie The Crane Wife - The Decemberists The Midnight Organ Fight - Frightened Rabbit The Remote Part - Idlewild October Road - James Taylor A Larum - Johnny Flynn Aha Shake Heartbreak - Kings of Leon Because Of The Times - Kings of Leon Myths of the Near Future - Klaxons The Libertines - The Libertines Origin of Symmetry - Muse Cardinology - Ryan Adams Easy Tiger - Ryan Adams Heartbreaker - Ryan Adams Love Is Hell - Ryan Adams Takk... - Sigur Ros Is This It - The Strokes Illinois - Sufjan Stevens
  8. Klinsmann scored in Italy, England, France and Germany but not in Spain. Still pretty good.
  9. Did you see Arcade Fire at the Barrowlands? That was an awesome show.
  10. Death Cab covered All If Full of Love and it is a very good cover. Also good album.
  11. Yeah so other people have been doing albums and I have decided it is more fun than songs. So I shall also do albums. Though I won't do it any order. I'm just going to write about albums I've recently listened to or whatever. Here goes... EVERYTHING MUST GO - MANIC STREET PREACHERS (1996) Despite having some excellent individual tracks since, I feel this is the Manic Street Preachers most recent album that is truly good. Possibly even great. It was released not too long after that guy they won't shut up about to this day died so it does feature some lyrical input from him. The first five tracks of this album are its strong point. They are loud and frantic. There is a slight drop in quality when the volume is lowered, such as the serene "Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky", though this album is never at any point bad. 8/10 Download: A Design For Life, Elvis Impersonator: Blackpool Pier, Everything Must Go, Kevin Carter, The Girl That Wanted To Be God SILENT ALARM - BLOC PARTY (2005) I pulled this out because I am going to see them live tomorrow. This is still my favourite Bloc Party album by miles and I can't imagine a better possible setlist than the whole of this album, in addition to "Two More Years", "Song For Clay" and "Uniform". In all honesty, despite me also liking the second album very much indeed, I wouldn't replace any song on Silent Alarm with a song from it. Apart from possibly the two mentioned previously. Helicopter is still Bloc Party's best song, built around a manic riff and resulting in an amazingly catchy song. "Luno" is still Bloc Party at their most frantic. "This Modern Love" is still Bloc Party at their most tender. 9/10 Download: Helicopter, Luno, Banquet, Like Eating Glass MEN'S NEEDS, WOMEN'S NEEDS, WHATEVER - THE CRIBS (2007) This is the album where the Cribs just edged onto the fringe of the mainstream. Compared to their other efforts it is a lot more polished and far less shambolic. Which can be both a good and bad thing. For the most part however, their rusty charm remains, such as Ryan Jarman screaming his lungs out on the likes of "Men's Needs", "Majors Titling Victory" and "Be Safe". Like all the other Cribs albums, the best tracks are to be found at the start. In fact, the first four tracks are one of the best openings to an album I have ever heard. Unfortunately it does decline towards the end of the album. While perfectly decent songs, "Ancient History" and the Lee Ranaldo assisted "Be Safe" both suffer from being too long and Shoot The Poets is instantly forgettable. However, the strengths of this album far outweigh the weaknesses. "Girls Like Mystery" and "Our Bovine Public" were two of the most insantly catchy songs to be released in 2007. "Men's Needs" has an awesome riff. "Moving Pictures" is a lovely song. 8/10 Download: Girls Like Mystery, Our Bovine Public, Men's Needs, Moving Pictures, I've Tried Everything THE REMOTE PART - IDLEWILD (2003) In a fair world, this album would be a classic. Every song is a belter, whether it is a laid-back acoustic number or a full out rocker. They also got the poet Edwin Morgan, whose poems seemingly have no life outside Higher English curriculums, to lend his voice to the album's closing track. Roddy Woomble's lyrics rival the great poet however, being just as thoughtful and intelligent as ever, which can be found on the likes of...well every song on the album I suppose. Idlewild are mainly known for "You Held The World In Your Arms". The fact that this song, while good in its own right, is actually one of the worst songs on the album shows how good "The Remote Part" is. 9/10 Download: American English, Live In A Hiding Place, Tell Me Ten Words, Out Of Routine, A Modern Way Of Letting Go
  12. Rotherham 0 - 1 Hyde United This result will go down in history!
  13. Yeah I meant to add - don't trust me in that case either.
  14. Pity we're taking your team's hero Kevin Kyle away though eh? ...
  15. Oh oh you told me to get that album a while ago but I couldn't find a link.
  16. No. I used to prefer Sink Or Swim. But then they released the '59 Sound. Oh and lots of other people prefer it as well I believe. I may actually be in the minority on this forum.
  17. Oh that reminds me, my ticket for BOB DYLAN AND HIS BAND came yesterday. EDIT:
  18. I'm a loser too. Though I beat Baddar on a technicality.
  19. Wolf Parade was awesome.
  20. I just realised something - I only ever play the game when I'm at home from uni cause it's my brother's. When I play it I either play against him or people online. Which means I am yet to play the computer. Weird that. I might actually win for once if I did.
