  1. Brewers bench coach Pat Murphy has emerged as a mystery candidate for the Mets job, but Andy Martino of the Daily News quickly jumped onto Twitter to say that Murphy is not the "bombshell candidate" he referenced last week. Naturally though, he still won't reveal who the bombshell candidate is because it would give away his source. Which in and of itself is another example of why sports journalism has gone to crap. If someone wants to tell you something off the record for your own knowledge, that's one thing. But you're generally not supposed to report on that kind of stuff at all. If you choose to report something, you're doing your readers a disservice by purposely withholding information.
  2. Seriously, Watt is injury prone.
  3. It’s possible. I’m holding out hope that Miami and Cincy in whatever order open up with QBs. They’re the only two teams projected to have a really high pick that will definitely be in the market for a new QB. The Steelers pick changes everything though. Miami could take Chase and still have another pick high enough to grab a QB, or have the draft capital to get back into the top 5.
  4. Browns have committed three turnovers in the first quarter.
  5. In what was always going to be a lost season, I can stomach losses as long as Daniel Jones plays well. That defense though...oof. The Giants can’t afford to pick any lower than #3 next year if they want to get Chase Young.
  6. Not trying to get more yardage with 45 seconds left is inexcusable. I’d fire Nagy on the spot.
  7. I have Kupp AND Evans in one of my public leagues. Nice to know I’ve already locked down a win before 4 PM.
  8. After shitting the bed in the red zone again, the Bears get booed off the field despite a halftime lead.
  9. 3rd and 15, Stafford tosses a long bomb TD to a wide open receiver with ease. This Giants defense is the worst they’ve ever had in their history.
  10. Oh wow, turns out this was it. Didn’t realize I had multiple settings. One of them had damn near everything set to auto, must’ve created it and forgot to remove it. I’m lucky the CPU didn’t do serious damage to my team.
  11. I keep having this damn glitch happen where the CPU will promote/demote players, even at the big league level. I have all roster management set to manual so it’s quite infuriating.
  12. Watching the picks on College Gameday. All of the hosts bundled up in the cold, and there’s guest picker Pat McAfee casually sitting there sleeveless.
  13. Someone opened up the Ribbie model in the edit-a-superstar feature and underneath the suit is James Ellsworth, an apparently unused model from when he was cut from the game last year following it surfacing that he's a predator piece of shit.
  14. Corey Vereen quits the league after learning that the starting base pay is only $27,000.
  15. Belichick trading anybody means that player is likely done.
  16. Astros fire assistant GM Brandon Taubman.
  17. Dan Quinn hasn’t even been fired yet but Notre Dame HC Brian Kelly’s name has been floated around NFL circles as the favorite for the Falcons job in 2020.
  18. I would love if this game being so bad triggers an opt-out clause on WWE's side to get out of the exclusivity agreement. But I know 2k are going nowhere.
  19. The Mets were never hiring Girardi. Never. Interviewing him was just to placate the fanbase. The Wilpons want their "own" candidate, not someone who will push back at the front office's constant meddling. So they fired Callaway and are now going to be replacing him with another inexperienced guy. Genius!
  20. Come on now, there’s no way I’m getting asked out by Alexa Bliss.
  21. This series feels over. Don’t really see this Nats team dropping four of five.
  22. Who are you to deny Jenny and Jill Uso of their moment?
  23. He's not a mystery candidate, the Mets have interviewed him. He apparently told Francesa today that he expects to make an announcement within 48 hours, aka the day off of the World Series (MLB doesn't like moves being announced on the same day as the World Series, thanks to A-Rod). This would mean he's likely already made his decision, and since the Mets are scheduled to interview Nats 1B coach Tim Bogar that day, that means it's not them. They probably interviewed Girardi because they knew the fans would be mad if they didn't. But the Wilpons want someone who will fall in line and Girardi is not that kind of guy. He'll go to the Phillies or Cubs.
  24. No way it's Keith Hernandez. He's helped a few Mets out in Spring Training over the years but he's always said that was the extent of it for him and that he wouldn't have the patience for full-time coaching, let alone managing. Plus as each year passes it's clear he hates a lot about what baseball has become, and said once he's retired from broadcasting he'll probably never watch a game again. At 66 years old having been a broadcaster for nearly two decades, I can't see him suddenly having a change of heart in wanting to be in the dugout. Ron Darling feels more plausible, but even still, I think if he wanted to foray into coaching he'd have done it years ago. The other name everyone comes up with is David Wright, but he's another guy who has said he has no desire to coach. He's still a "special advisor" but his baseball career is essentially over and he's content to spend time with his young kids. Mystery Candidate Power Rankings: 1 - Jessica Mendoza 2 - A-Rod 3 - Robinson Cano player-manager 4 - Brodie names himself manager 5 - Mike Francesa
