  1. So...I guess I've started developing a sort of alternate reality scenario using the August 1996 MASTERS database I have been working on for a few months. I don't know what really triggered it, but maybe its my unsatisfaction with the scenarios which are available. Sure there are plenty of mods to choose from, but only a few of them provide me the experience I desire. iDOMINATION has set the standard for what a true scenario should entail. Depth in information, promotions, rosters, accuracy, history, and detail. NWA Domination v2.0 used to match up in par, but after looking at the data today I don't see it as impressive anymore. Some of the others mods use crappy stats or have stupid backstories I can't get in to. And while iDOM has provided me plenty of enjoyment out of EWR, I want more to play, and more to create with. So right off the bat I should note I don't think I'll be making an effort to be as deep as iDOM. My true purpose is to create purely an enjoyable alternate reality, with a good enough backstory to hold it all together. iDOL's NWA Handbook is phenomenal, and I don't think I want to put in the effort he did lol. But I do think everyone could enjoy a lot out of this scenario I have in mind, providing a solid variety of interesting scenarios within promotions, as well as the rosters to get some real solid play out of. The main objective, I guess, is to provide a fun alternate reality version of wrestling, not necessarily centered around the domination of the National Wrestling Alliance. Rather, I want to provide an interesting, and even playing field of promotions contending for the true number one spot. However, most are not associated with one another, and the industry is as ruthless as it's ever been. No, Wrestlemania didn't fail. While it was not as impactful as it turned out to be in real life, it was a wonderful success for Vince McMahon and the World Wrestling Federation, as he steered a promotion towards becoming the first true nationwide promotion. The territories continued to do fine, as loyal fan bases continued to turn out as McMahon's "sports entertainment" still struggled to generate dominating interest. One plan McMahon had up his sleeve involved his number one star, 'Macho Man' Randy Savage, who would become WWF Heavyweight champion at Wrestlemania III. Seemingly overnight, 'Macho Madness' began to sweep through America, as news of Savage's powerslam became the hottest item of discussion in schools, and even water coolers, across the country. And just as quickly as the WWF seemed to be rising, the organization began to crumble. By the time this scenario begins, athletic and body enhancing steroids and growth hormones have become simultaneously associated with the WWF and one man, Vince McMahon. I don't want to do the research because it's just a waste of time to me, but imagine McMahon having been indicted on charges for illegal steroid distribution and collaboration with the guy the government was investigating originally. Several wrestlers leaving up to this point, and following his conviction, increased susceptibility of the WWF hosting a pro-steroid culture within its organization. In 1993, Vince McMahon is sentenced to seven-years in prison. Linda McMahon had already been transferred the role of CEO, so the company successfully handled the transition better than worse scenarios possible, but the company's image was severely damaged, and the company was forced to pay millions in fines, completely off-railing any progress the company had made since 'Macho Madness' had shot the promotion up into first place. With the WWF knocked out, the rest of the wrestling industry was already making its move. McMahon's conviction was just the final piece to the puzzle. But this first post won't focus on the WWF. Instead, I've been working on the biggest promotion in America, the National Wrestling Alliance. While many of these alternate reality scenarios feature various NWA promotions making up the top tier of American wrestling, I thought it would be more interesting to see the NWA as a single entity by the late 1980's, promoting the traditional, conservative side of wrestling, and doing a very good job at it. Big names, big shows, big matches. The most prestigious world championship in the world. The NWA, by most, is considered the top promotion in America since the WWF's downfall in mid-1993. So what I really want to do is offer up to anyone the opportunity to write a recent history of the NWA! Perhaps, starting from when they first became a single entity, essentially replacing Jim Crockett Promotions in the Mid-Atlantic, and re-branding themselves as the true national promotion in America. The company had rode behind names like Ric Flair and Sting, but r.eally became a true contender when 'Macho Man' Randy Savage left the WWF in 1991 and joined the NWA. The Undertaker was a creation of the NWA, and never competed for the WWF; while Genichiro Tenryu was marketed as one of the best and toughest Japanese wrestlers to ever live. Eventually, the promotion was joined by 'Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase and British Bulldog, both opting to leave the WWF following McMahon's conviction. Oh yeah, and they have a bad ass Four Horsemen combo. AND THE GREAT MUTA. The NWA has had some of its own legal problems, however, as the company was accused by racism somewhere around 1994 by a black wrestler to be determined, leading to the company making quick hires of african-American wrestlers such as D'Lo Brown and Sir Muhammed, while providing training for former 'World's Strongest Man' Mark Henry, and former karate instructor Ernest Miller (to be renamed something more NOD-esque). I know it's early for the last two debuts, but 1996 is short of people to choose from like the wide variety of workers in iDOM or current day scenarios. Working with only 600 wrestlers is an interesting task. Anyway, the NWA hired these guys (paying them big money as a subtle public relations move), created the Nation of Domination stable, an angry Black Panther-esque stable who are currently begin pushed hard. Basically, the NWA is attempting to erase its image as a "racist" organization, as well as any damage in public image from the results of its ethnic discrimination lawsuit. But then again, you can ignore all this crap when you play. I tend to do that sometimes. Check out the near final roster for the NWA below, as well as its stats. I still don't know who to put the belts on, or any booking history on the promotion, which is what I'm looking for someone to complete. Thoughts on this idea? The NWA roster? What's to come? HELP ME BTW, the bad ass part is, this is gonna be done really quickly, since the database itself is already pretty solid in terms of stats and salary bases. Plus I can do whatever I want with the data since I put it togethahz. EDIT: I PARTIALLY POSTED THIS JUST SO I WOULD COMMIT MYSELF NOW THAT IT'S OUT IN THE PUBLIC CRAP NOW I HAVE TO FINISH IT

  7. Alright here's the updated version. I guess we can call it, version 2.0... Solid addition of wrestlers, and if you've been following this project, you'll notice a wide variety of workers whom were missing before but certainly deserve their name in this database. Download Version 2.0 (Sharebeast) Now, here's what's on the future agenda: - Add accurate Japanese workers, touring the appropriate promotions. + I'd say I have this one about covered. You can throw me some information if you want, or if I request some help, but I'm pretty interested in digging through 1990's Japanese wrestling since Puroresu is the only wrestling I still pay attention to. Cagematch Database has plenty of information concerning event results, while Wikipedia has made leaps and bounds in the past year or two concerning their pro wrestling database (seriously, has anyone else noticed this?). - Adding a variety of regional and small, American promotions which were around this time. + This is definitely just as important to me as adding Japanese workers. A wide variety of regional and small promotions is important in the game because you need these independent workers actually working matches so they can improve their skills, otherwise you have John Doe with the near same damn stats he did years before. This will allow you to watch over some unsigned guys and see their improvement, deciding when you should snag them up and throw them into development or immediately on the roster. + Information concerning independent promotions around this time is pretty hard to find, so some real digging is necessary I'm looking for anyone willing to help with this task, posting in here an appropriate roster concerning their overness, tied in with the suggested size of the promotion. So if you want to help me out, flood through some results of regional promotions in 1996, and come up with a roster for them similar to how I have organized my rosters in this thread and in the handbook for this mod. - Adding more managers, valets, woman's workers, and non-wrestlers. + This update had no focus whatsoever in adding more managers, ect., instead, I just added as many active workers I could to give the database the real foundation it needs to be great. But of course, more managers, ect. should be added at some point down the line. I'll probably run through some other databases to see who I'm missing, while I'm sure you guys will have some suggestions as well. - Compiling a Picture Database. + I really, really wanted to release this update with a picture database in tact, but this process was kinda long and I really wanna hear what you guys have to say about my progress. But at some point, I really do want to compile a database of pictures appropriate to this time in wrestling history. If you want to do this, I will love you for ever. I'm busy in real life and really shouldn't be spending a lot of time doing this stuff.
  8. We're almost there boys. I'm stopping for the night, but just finished up the letter 'S', which means I'll probably the able to release this tomorrow. I gotta go to sleep though because I'm working in the morning. Right now I'm at 633 total workers, having added no managers or non-wrestlers. You guys are really gonna like this update, and it will totally be the first real playable version of this mod. Updated list. (haven't adjusted anything from the first time I added what you guys have given me.)
  9. my childhood dream was to one day be a jobber in wcw. needless to say, my childhood was ruined. :(

  10. Yes, this is the prevailing view, and I agree because these million dollar cars translate to fifty-f'n-dollars in real life.... BUT SERIOUSLY YOU GUYS PLAY WITH ME

  12. Anyone else have/tried this game? It's a free mobile racing game produced by EA, available on mobile phones and tablets, and it's probably the best mobile racing game available today. Superb graphics, great controls, a nice selection of cars and real-life track, and an appropriate amount and selection of game modes. Basically you run a course, usually against drone-ghosts of other players' performances in the same event (called "time-shifted multiplayer), with the ultimate goal of achieving first place (obviously), but second and third gain you the coveted trophies your after in most events. The only knocks against it seem to be the fact that repairs are so damn frequent and a bit expensive, while servicing your car comes too quickly and takes such a long time for cars that actually cost a grand amount of money (the best cars go for a few million, I have yet to hold more than a few hundred thousand in my bank before purchasing upgrades or new cars in general. This actually turned me off from the game after thinking about the fact that it wouldn't even be worth working towards a really nice car because servicing it takes so long (sometimes hours for "rework your engine"), but it's been such a solid game to pass the time with when I want to relax my brain a little, and has been my most played game on my iPhone compared to all the others I've played/purchased (which is a ton). The game also utilizes the game center in iPhones (and probably the equivalent in Droid's), where you accept friend requests from others and can race against their times in specific events they have competed in as well (this also earns you extra money you make after every race). I would suggest everyone tries it out, since it is free to play. It kind of sucks at first, but once you have three or more cars, there's always something to do while one or two of your other cars are repairing or upgrading. I'm definitely looking for friends to request and compete against for the extra money and so we can trash-talk each other on this forum (HEY YOUR GHOST CAR SUCKS). Here's my current list of cars: - Nissan Silvia (S15); fully upgraded, first car I purchased (out of the two you can choose lol), but still kicks some f'n ass. - Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34); fully upgraded, kind of sucks but the second car I bought to unlock the second tier of events/cars. - BMW M3 GTS; halfway upgraded, this thing tears ass for sure, with a fully upgraded drive train for some solid acceleration. - Dodge Challenger R/T; my least used car, just bought it so I could do better in specific events my Silvia couldn't win (they are in the same tier of events/cars). Kind of a waste of money but whatever. - McLaren MP4-12C; it took me awhile to get this beast, but by the time I had leveled up so many times, I realized I had just enough Gold to buy it and actually play with some serious speed and power. This thing is friggin' sick and I can't wait to upgrade the hell out of it so I'm really whooping ass. Here's a video of that McLaren in action so you can get a feel for the power a lot of these cars have and so you can see the gameplay and quality of graphics. So, have I generated any interest? ^ ^

  14. Yeah so considering the Wrong section bud. Yeah so considering this new forum layout is brand new I wasn't exactly which forum to put this in, but considering it would pertain to my modding of the game, I figured this one was the right choice. IDOL can move it if he wants. So if it's 81 for too stiff, would it be 19 and lower for "he wasn't selling enough?" btw i love "wrong section guy" he always comes out of nowhere
  15. So when a wrestler is too stiff and you get a message where his opponent says, "XYZ was too stiff, I could have been injured badly...", does anyone know what the minimum stiffness for this message to happen?
  16. Concerning the gay rumors, I wish a lot more players would just come out and say they would support a gay teammate if they feel that way. You can't expect one guy to just come out and take the heat he's going to get and things are going to be changed. You need regular players going to the media and saying, look, I have no problem if one of my teammate's are gay, and I would support him through and through. Gronk actually did this a few days ago during an ESPN visit and I was really impressed even though I think he's super immature.
  17. Tough break for Darvish. Great performance. But every perfect game just reminds me of Galarraga's blown-perfect game. I remember watching that live, but what transpired after is always so inspiring. I just wish regular tv broadcast clips of epic baseball moments were available for viewing on YouTube but tthe MLB act like friggin' Nazi's when it comes to game clips. EDIT: I definitely have the Tigers over anyone in the World Series this year. Last season should have built a lot of hunger in those boys, not to mention they're even better this season. It's always nice living in a town where one of the sports team is a legitimate title contender. I'm gonna make sure to go to a bunch of Tigers games this season, even though I'm an Indians fan through and through.

  19. i guess today's the perfect day to reveal my real identity. Yes, it is true. I am the 'fat boy' that has been heckling Ric Flair for much of his career.

  20. I can't believe my Buckeyes lost. Terrible night.
  21. Thanks for both your help jupiter and Mancuerda. Work continues, just finished the letter H, which is actually halfway down he scroller... Here's an updated list. - Need finishers for Barabas Jr. - Need finishers for Barry Hardy. - Need finishers for Billy Joe Travis. - Need finishers for Bob Bradley. - Need finishers for Buddy Wayne. - Need finishers for Chad Austin. - Need finishers for Dale Veasey. - Need info on Denny Kass. - Need finishers for Dino Casanova. - Need finishers for Dusty Wolfe. - Need finishers for Dynamite D. - Need finishers for El Fuego (Rob Fuego). - Need finishers for Eric Sbraccia. - Need finishers for George South. - Need finishers for Geza Kalman Jr. - Need finishers for Gino Caruso. - Need finishers for Hardbody Harrison. - Need finishers for Harry Del Rios. - Need finishers for Hercules Ayala.
  22. So thankfully I was able to save my computer and everything on it, so work on this continued immediately. I've finished A-D with the rest of the alphabet to go, in terms of adding every American/Canadian wrestler possible, as well as a few Mexicans. Just hit the 500 worker mark, so I've added around 70-80 new guys, and at this rate, should finish with about 800 workers in the database? Seems like just the perfect amount, but I'll tell you, most these guys I'm adding suck. They just add much more depth to the game. Once I finish letter Z, I will release the updated version, and proceed work on adding Japanese wrestlers. I currently have the NJPW roster finished, and will try to work on every Japanese promotion in EWR (that existed in Aug. 1996). BTW I quit writing the changes down, since it just slows my down so much and is really needless work. I am, however, keeping a list of info I need. Here it is so far...
  23. Thanks Jupiter keep em coming I really appreciate it. Unfortunately my computer is gonna wake up with a clean slate after it stopped working due to virus overload, so I actually lose the data and work I did after releasing it, but thank god I wrote down every adjustment so I can just run through the list real quick and do it again.
