  1. I always enjoyed Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" best. I know some people here passionately disagree, and it's certainly a close call, but there's something in Cash's voice that I prefer.
  2. I didn't know about the South Park and John K stuff. I knew Parker and Stone did an episode about Family Guy, but I hadn't seen it yet.
  3. Ignition is my personal favorite, as it has the raw feel their debut album had but also felt a bit more powerful. I like Ixnay on the Hombre just fine, but it was certainly the beginning of the end. I haven't really gotten into anything since Americana.
  4. I'm also happy to see Lord of the Flies. The list is a bit underwhelming so far, but it will still be interesting to see the top 5 or so.
  5. 1. The Book of Ralph 2. The Virgin Suicides 3. The Catcher in the Rye 4. 1984 5. Animal Farm 6. Notes From Underground 7. A Clockwork Orange 8. Pastoralia 9. Nice Big American Baby 10. Where I'm calling From It's depressing to see the lack of Salinger love. EDIT: I edited out Lord of the Rings since it's a series.
  6. In no order... 1. Dawn of the Dead (original) 2. Dawn of the Dead (remake) 3. Battle Royale 4. This is Spinal Tap 5. Reservoir Dogs 6. Pulp Fiction 7. The Big Lebowski 8. Clerks 9. Office Space 10. Groundhog Day 11. Shaun of the Dead 12. Suicide Kings 13. Donnie Darko 14. Clerks 15. How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying
  7. My wife is pretty into Mario Kart, Tetris-type games, Monkey Ball, and Battlefront (one of these things is not like the other...). She's willing to play pretty much anything though (Call of Duty 2, various Marvel games, etc.), but that's usually only when we are at someone else's place and she's not wild about a lot fo shooting games. We don't have a lot of games, so we usually just stick to those mentioned above. I think this weekend we are stopping by the used game place and picking up some stuff for us though, so hopefully we can add to the collection.
  8. I got The Cosby Show as an anniversary gift not too long ago and I really enjoyed it. My wife also has the first four ER seasons and they were a lot more intense and engaging than I would have guessed. I had remembered watching the show off and on back when it started, but the writing and character development were a lot better than I realized. Also, you can't go wrong with Home Movies. It's not laugh out loud funny right away, but once you watch it for a bit and get into the characters, it's awesome. That's not to say that everyone is going to love it, but most people I know who give it a chance say it's a bit slow getting into at first, but love it once they do. Very quotable and a welcome change from the shock value humor of Family Guy-type cartoons (not saying those aren't good too though).
  9. As far as contemporaries are concerned, Kut Vonnegut, Tim O'Brien, and John McNally are all good. For modernism, I like Dostoevsky. Oh, and Sylvia Plath EDIT: Oh yeah, and the real answer is Salinger. (Y)
  10. V for Vendetta- ***3/4 Maybe this one will grow on me after a while, but as it stands now, it's a really, really solid movie. I thought it was just a bit slow at times, but the pacing wasn't a big problem. It was also risky, but I think it paid off. Overall good stuff.
  11. Mitchell is by far one of the best episodes. I'm also a big fan of Cave Dwellers ("Ding... dong") and, of course, the movie. I have a ton I recorded from Sci-Fi but haven't watched yet. I always forget I have them. Man, I should really get those out.
  12. I'm pissed none of the local stations carried the Cincinnati game today, as the come from behind victory sounds like it would have been a good time.
  13. I always enjoyed Ira's spiel as he enteres the house in Suicide Kings. "These guys... I don't even know these fucking guys." "You cut his fucking finger off!"
  14. Both. She's the star and main writer on it. As for the show, it seemed like they were headed for a radical change. Too bad the big problem with this is that Seth Meyers is still head writer after last season. The writing staff is really what needed shaking up and it appears there isn't much that did get shaken up after all. In fairness, under Meyers SNL has seen the debut of the Digital Shorts, the best thing about the show since the Will Ferrell days. The only problem is the rest of the show. >_>
  15. Sneakers- **3/4 This was definitely a fun, enjoyable film that still felt a bit empty for me. The pacing was also a bit too slow and certainly could have been sped up at points. Overall though, it was good fun.
  16. Yes! I was hoping you'd reply back to that one, Midget. And I'm also glad someone appreciates Cave Dwellers as much as I do. The doorbell bit with the pec is one of my favorite MST3K gags ever. "Ding.... dong."
