  1. A few things about some of the battles: Spartan vs. Ninja should never have been done. Despite what they show in movies, Ninjas were assassins, not warriors. If a ninja has to fight an opponent, he's already failed. Like the ninja expert said, a ninja would have fled then come back and killed the Spartan in his sleep. Spetsnaz vs. Green Berets I at first thought was bs due to the E-Tool being one of the Green Beret team's weapons. But on the Aftermath (online follow up show), it was explained that during a nasty battle in `Nam a Green Beret killed several VC by wielding an E-Tool like a battle axe. And if it came down to a sniper fight, the Green Berets would have won that battle hands down. Knight vs. Pirate was total crap. They ignored the Knight's shield completely during the testing and took it out of the equation during the battle (Knight dropped it and never picked it back up), the fact the grenado only did stun/shockwave damage (didn't do much at all to the armor), and also that the flintlock was next to useless and the blunderbuss misfired the first time. The end of the fight was idiotic, as it made the Knight look like a moron. He basically lost because he didn't put his visor back down. I have the season one dvd set and refuse to rewatch that episode. A Pirate would only win under those circumstances if he got a near point blank range shot with a blunderbuss - and it actually fired. But if the Knight had the shield, it wouldn't matter what weapons a Pirate had, as he'd be dead meat. (Well, maybe if he had a cannon.....*snicker*)
  2. Nope. Green Berets lost to the Spetsnaz in season one. The thing you have to realize is that the match-ups aren't really accurate at all because the testing is inconsistent and other factors beyond equipment are usually not factored in. And as long as we're mentioning bullshit as some others have brought up: Knight vs. Pirate. The whole episode was pretty much garbage and has the worst fight AND finish they've done yet. The battles where they've had one on one fights yet gave one warrior a frickin' siege weapon (Alexander vs. Atilla) are also pretty damned dumb. Washington vs. Napoleon may be a full scale army battle, NOT a one on one fight. Vampire vs. Zombie I have to give to the vampire. Yes, they kill by exsanguination, which doesn't mean squat to a zombie. But while they're both undead (unless you mean the Twilight emo-fairy type `vampires'), vampires are intelligent and have other supernatural abilities that zombies don't. Zombies are mindless and fairly slow.
  3. That Liefeld pic/cover/whatever of Hawk & Dove actually doesn't look too bad. Considering its Liefeld, that is. But the Teen Titans one? Ugh. Tim's costume doesn't look too bad (and I think those are wings, not a wing-shaped cape), but the others totally suck. And Connor with a Superman S shield tattoo? Laaaaame.
  4. Try an Infiltrator. Infiltrator is awesomely fun, and the only class I played ME2 through two with twice (two different characters, not the same one twice). The only class I didn't play ME2 as was whichever one has the Tech Armor power (Engineer, I think?), because I think they're boring. (My only character imported from ME is a Vanguard) When you get to the part where you get to pick up a weapon, the sniper rifle that's available is the best gun players can get. So that makes Infiltrator a good class choice. I was tossing out headshots left and right without even bothering to cloak most of the time once I got that gun with my second Infiltrator.
  5. If FX dumps Sons of Anarchy, I hope Spike picks it up. But I won't be holding my breath waiting for that to happen.
  6. The problem with the Mako really was that its controls were crap. And one gripe I have with ME2 is that Kasumi should have been free content and the Firewalker pack paid content. Not really fair making you pay extra to complete the team, and its about as bad as crap Bethesda pulled with the GOTY edition of Oblivion. (When the Knights of the Nine expansion came out for Oblivion, it included all the paid DLC that had been released, but that paid DLC wasn't included in the GOTY edition.)
  7. So USC has been stripped of the 2004 BCS championship. Some people are suggesting that it should be given to Auburn instead of being left vacant. It won't be given to Auburn, but I think it should. Auburn should have claimed a piece of that championship to begin with because they deserved to be in that game more than Oklahoma did. And Mike Hamilton is resigning as Tennessee's AD effective at the end of the month. I couldn't be happier.
  8. yes...Sting as a former pro wrestler who returns from the grave to take revenge on those who killed his career.. Which would basically be about 5 minutes long. The resurrection, then he offs himself for going to TNA instead of the WWE or Japan.
  9. I used to watch Doctor Who via Veoh before it aired in the U.S. (That's how I saw "Utopia", "Stolen Earth" and "Journey's End", amongst others), but Veoh turned to crap over a year ago.
  10. Did you not bother seeing the black and white ones because i would say without a shadow of a doubt that Hartnell's is the best theme (Hartnell's Intro), i'd also include Troughton's intro for best title sequence ([Troughton's Intro). On top of that i'd also add in Troughton for best dressed, seeing as he pretty much used the same outfit as Hartnell but it was more baggy it gave him a slighty different look over Hartnell making a bit more qwerky. I'd also easilly add in the first two main outfits Tom Baker wore to that list, the one with the light and dark were also very suiting. Also in regards to Colin Bakers outfit, he only wore one, unless you also count the one time he wore the hawaian shirt in Attack of the Cybermen but on that same note you could also count many one off's, also i'd say that in his Necros mourning cloak in Revelation of the Daleks he did look alrighty for once. You're right about Colin Baker's outfit. I think what threw me off is that there were some promotional pictures at one time that had him in a different coat, which was colored similar to the 5th Doctor's (but not the same design) and had some blue on it as well. But I don't believe it was ever actually used. I know for some animation they did and for the Big Finish covers they've got the Sixth Doctor in blue now, and that outfit looks great. (Blue is my favorite color) Disagree with you about Hartnell and Troughton's, but its a matter of taste. The world would be a weird place if everyone liked the same things. And the First and Second Doctor didn't really wear the same outfit. The Second just shared the First Doctor's taste in plaid or checked pants and occasionally wore a similar style of tie. (And lets not forget the Second sometimes wore a fur coat, which showed up again when the Seventh was picking out his new wardrobe) I really wish most of the Second Doctor's episodes hadn't been lost. I like him from what I've seen of him, and the descriptions of most of the episodes sound pretty good. (And "Fury From The Deep" = 1st appearance of a certain gadget the Doctor is rather fond of.)
  11. Going to have to avoid spoilers, as I'm behind a bit thanks to BBC America. I was watching some Doctor Who related videos on Youtube earlier, and have to make a few comments: Worst versions of the theme: Jon Pertwee's 1st and Sylvester McCoy's. (Not sure which one I'd say is worse than the other) Colin Baker's is pretty bad, too, but those are worse. Best versions of the theme: Eccelston/Tennant and Tom Baker's second/Peter Davison's Best title sequence: (tie) Tom Baker's first (which is more or less Pertwee's second) and the Eccelston/Tennant one. Best title logo: Pertwee's second/Tom Baker's first. Worst title logo: Sylvester McCoy's. Best dressed Doctor: Debatable depending on your taste, but I'd go with a tie between Jon Pertwee and David Tennant, myself. Anyone who picks Colin Baker is either color blind or legally blind. Worst dressed Doctor: Colin Baker. His first outfit looked like he was dressed in the dark by the Batman villain Two-Face's tailor using some left over scraps.
  12. The Third Doctor is the most "action heroish" Doctor as far as the original series goes. He knew Venusian Akido and wasn't afraid to mix it up when he had to. Plus Jon Pertwee had a badass dragon tattoo that they didn't cover up. Speculation amongst fans is that its a Gallifreyan prisoner/criminal mark or something since that's the only incarnation that had it and the Doctor had been exiled to Earth. He did have a few rather lousy outfits, but the Third Doctor was fairly stylish. Incidentally, if Roger Delgado hadn't died in a car accident, the Third Doctor would have been the only Doctor to fight the Master, because the original plan was to kill the Master off in a season finale by having the Master sacrifice himself to save the Doctor from being killed. Wrap your head around that!
  13. I'm heavily leaning toward picking the album up, after watching the video for "Shipwrecked" on Youtube a few times. (I have it and the video for "Keelhauled" favorited on there) It doesn't drop in the U.S. until the 14th, though. It's definitely worth it. It's better than their first album, and probably better than their second. Unlike previous albums, their weak tracks are still decent on this one. If you want a couple of tracks to YouTube to see how you feel about the album (in addition to the singles they've put out), then I'd go for The Sunk'n Norwegian, Rum, and Death Throes of the Terrorsquid - the latter of which has guest vocals from Abigail Williams' frontman. (Yes, there is a black metal influence on part of that song). Thanks for that info. I'll definitely check those songs out when I have time.

  15. Sabean has gone over the top, just like the Cleveland Cavaliers owner did over LeBron James going to Miami. Except that was somewhat understandable. Sabean is just whining about something that everyone and their brother has said was a routine baseball play but should probably lead to rules changes, plus he made a threat. I just don't see how MLB can stand by and not punish him. And if the Giants retaliate against Cousins, the player who does it and Sabean should both be tossed out of baseball. I don't mean suspended, but banned.
  16. If I hadn't decided to quit reading comics last June due to financial reasons, I would be quitting right now because of this crap. I'd pretty much given up on Marvel (the only Marvel title I was reading when I stopped was Captain America), and this reboot which includes some costume redesigns is just plain dumb. My sneaking suspicion is that it will bomb, most of the rebooted titles will be `unrebooted', and DC will claim it was meant to be temporary all along.
  17. So anyone have any thoughts about the Giants' GM still driving the waaaahmbulance over Buster Posey a week after it happened? Personally, I think a fine and a warning against the retaliation he mentioned are in order.
  18. I didn't say it was a perfect solution. But its better than a bunch of players getting in who don't even deserve to be in the game at all who only get in because the manager likes them or they play for him.
  19. You realize you just contradicted yourself in the same paragraph, right? You say Panni voting for Jeter makes sense, meanwhile the reason he voted for him is because he stands out. He clearly stands out because he's Derek Jeter and his past performances. That's why he has that certain appeal. The next sentence you say voting for him because of who he is or what he's done in the past doesn't make sense. Care to make sense of your hypocrisy? Read the first sentence of Panni's post. That's the part that made sense. I've thought about it and I think a better way to handle the ASG would be this: Leave the way players are selected by fan balloting alone, but change it so that when the managers pick alternates (including pitchers), they have to pick from players who won postseason awards the previous season first. And they CANNOT pick players from their own team unless it was an award only given to one player (ie, the league MVP is left out for some reason) or all the other players they invite first decline. (The reason I'm against managers picking players from their own team is because one year Bobby Cox loaded up on Braves players and left out a few players who should have been there more)
  20. 1. I know every team has a player in the game. 2. Certain players get into the ASG based on past performances or what team they play for, and that's not right. If you suck ass in the current season, you DO NOT belong in the game, no matter who you play for. To me, Panni89's reason for voting for Jeter makes sense. Voting for him because of who he is or what he's done in the past when there players better than him right now being left out just plain doesn't.
  21. What I hate about the All-Star Game is that you usually end up with some players from large market teams who don't deserve to be there, or who just barely do, while the smaller market teams end up lucky if they even have one or two players in it. And sorry, but the way Jeter is hitting, he DOES NOT deserve to be in the All-Star Game, but sadly will be. A long time ago, baseball held 2 All-Star Games a year for a while. The way fan voting is done, I almost think they should bring back the second one, but make who gets in based on stats rather than voting.

  23. Recommendations? Well, I can't think of any First Doctors stories I'd recommend offhand. Its been too long since I've seen any. Definitely need to see An Unearthly Child, though, as it was the very first episode of Doctor Who. Most of the Second Doctor episodes were taped over/destroyed. I'm listing my recommendations in chronlogical order, as I'm getting them from my copy of The Discontinuity Guide. The ones I recommend most I've bolded....and Genesis of the Daleks isn't just a recommendation; its THE one classic story that everyone needs to see, as its one of the best Doctor Who stories, period. Third Doctor: Spearhead From Space, Terror of the Autons, The Claws of Axos, The Daemons, Carnival of Monsters, Planet of the Spiders. Fourth: Robot, Genesis of the Daleks, Pyramids of Mars, The Brain of Morbius, The Hand of Fear, The Face of Evil, The Talons of Weng-Chiang, Image of the Fendahl (an actual Doctor Who horror story, more or less), Destiny of the Daleks, State of Decay (vampires!), The Keeper of Traken and Logopolis. Fifth: Castrovalva, The Visitation, Time-Flight, Ark of Infinity, Mawdryn Undead, Terminus, Enlightenment, Frontios, The Caves of Androzani. Avoid Twin Dilemma, which is actually the first Sixth Doctor solo story (The Doctor regenerates at the end of Caves of Androzani, but Twin Dilemma which came after it was the last story of the season instead of the first story of the next season), because its not good at all. Sixth: The Mark of the Rani, Timelash, Revelation of the Daleks. Seventh: Time and the Rani, Silver Nemesis, Battlefield, Ghost Light, The Curse of Fenric, Survival (series finale). And avoid Paradise Towers like the plague! Can't stress that enough, as it not only has Mel (worst companion ever, played by Bonnie Langford) in it, but the story is boring as hell. Even the MST3K crew wouldn't have been able to help. If you're a heavy drinker, smoke pot or do any other type of drugs, add The Happiness Patrol to the Seventh Doctor list. Its one you don't want to see while clean and sober. The villain has to be seen to be believed.... Colin Baker, the Sixth Doctor, was the Doctor at a bad time because of all the problems the BBC was going through then, and his character never really got to develop properly. He's hands down the worst dressed Doctor, but in my opinion the Seventh Doctor is the worst Doctor (yes, I even prefer Paul McGann to him). I've heard nothing but good things about the Big Finish audio adventures that Colin Baker has done, because he got to develop the Sixth Doctor's personality better.
  24. Should really be called Duke Nukem Its About Damn Fucking Time.
