  1. Apparently Donovan McNabb is lobbying the Redskins to sign Terell Owens. So if this is true, how long before we see "Donovan McNabb committed to mental institution, likely to miss the entire 2010 NFL season" posted as a news headline?
  2. I've thought of a few solutions for this problem: 1. The NFL and/or Rooneys spend millions, perhaps billions, of dollars to perfect cryogenics. Then they keep Roethlisberger on ice from the end of the season until training camp starts for the rest of his career. 2. Suspend him several games and tell him he's got two strikes. He gets in trouble again, he's DONE as an NFL QB. 3. Trade him to Cleveland. That way in a couple of years no one will give a fuck about him. I don't know if he actually did sell his soul to the devil, but I think the problem is that he donated his brain to science!
  3. Ever seen footage of the game when Jose Canseco played for the Rangers and ended up pitching against the Red Sox? Twasn't pretty. (Was only a few days after the incident where a ball bounced off his head for a home run)
  4. The problem with Knight vs. Pirate WAS Pirate winning due to a gun, when the flintlock did jack shit against armor during the testing and didn't even hit where it was aimed at and the Blunderbuss misfired the first time and only one pellet penetrated the armor the second attempt - though that second attempt would have been lethal. They should take misfires and problems in testing into account for the simulated battles. Worst fight in the show's history, because the Knight came off like an idiot (if the Knight had picked the shield back up and put his visor down, the Pirate would have been chum!) and the ending was too contrived. They could have at least made it seem like the Knight was going to win, standing over a downed Pirate and about to run him through, only for the Pirate to grab a Blunderbuss and blast the Knight. That would have made a LOT more sense than a flintlock to the face after too much crawling around to be believable. The flintlock was the worst weapon tested in that episode, and the morning star is arguably the best hand to hand weapon they've had on the series yet. I agree with most of your picks, except I think it'll be Al Capone over Jesse James and Sun Tzu over Vlad the Impaler, while Alexander vs. Atilla could go either way, but I think Atilla will win due to having the ranged advantage. Al Capone due to one weapon; the Tommy Gun. No real reason for the other pick, except if they had fought in real life, Sun Tzu would have kicked Vlad's ass. Sun Tzu literally wrote the book on war, and Vlad did get get defeated a few times.
  5. Season 5 episode 1 aired here on BBC America tonight, and I thought it was pretty good. Do not care for the new version of the theme or the new opening title sequence, but I do like the new logo. (I'm assuming that was the regular new opening, and they didn't just do that bit with the TARDIS being hit what looked like lightning then spinning out of control before travelling on for just that episode?) I like Matt Smith already, but obviously since its his first episode as the Doctor and the Doctor is always screwy for a while after regenerating, I can't judge him fully just yet. And I have a thing for redheads, so Karen Gillan is a definite thumbs up. The new TARDIS control room is a definite improvement, but I don't like the fact the TARDIS key looks like an ordinary key. So the new sonic screwdriver has a green light instead of a blue one? Or was the coloring off on my tv? Not too thrilled about the Daleks episode (I think they've been overused in the series), but am looking forward to the vampires and Weeping Angels episodes.
  6. Roethlisberger is an unfortunate combination of immature and stupid. Do I think the Steelers will get rid of him? It depends. I don't know if they'd be willing to release him outright if they can't find a team willing to make a trade. Do I want the Steelers to release him? NO! Because he might end up with a team I actually like! But I do think he should be punished somehow, and it doesn't matter whether its by the Commissioner or by the team. I think suspending him anywhere from half a season to a full season - without pay - would be a good idea, not just because of the situation right now but because of past behavior. Roethlisberger needs to get a clue and stop behaving like an idiot during the offseason. Dude needs to grow up!
  7. Deadliest Warrior season 2 starts April 20th, and all the match-ups have been announced. The season premiere will be SWAT vs. GSG 9. Unfortunately, they're doing more historical figure matchups, and some of them seem to be forgone conclusions: Attila the Hun vs. Alexander the Great Jesse James vs. Al Capone (seriously?! It'll be Capone winning by Tommy Gun, I bet) Vlad the Impaler vs. Sun Tzu (Sun Tzu literally wrote the book on war, so I can't see any way they can justify it if he loses) The other matchups will be: Aztec Jaguar vs. Zande Warrior Persian Immortal vs. Celt Roman Centurion vs. Rajput Somali Pirates vs. Medellin Cartel * Nazi SS vs. Viet Cong * KGB vs. CIA (no idea if it'll be one on one or a squad battle) Ming Warrior vs. Musketeer Commanche vs. Mongol Navy SEALs vs. Israeli Commandos If they do a season 3, I'd like to see Miyamoto Musashi, Alaric I and Robert The Bruce used. *Two battles that I hope end up with no winning side, everyone dead. Oh, and if the first season aired in the U.K., I'm betting they didn't air Taliban vs. IRA?
  8. COWBOYS! I also like the Titans (and no, it isn't a Tennessee thing; I liked them when they were the Houston Oilers), Bears and Colts. But I only give a damn about the Colts as long as Peyton Manning is their starting QB.
  9. So if the island was the Matrix, I guess that means Desmond would be Neo, huh?
  10. The move is dumb on the part of the Redskins. If I read right, McNabb is in the last year of his contract, and I don't see him signing a long term deal with Washington. He wants to play for a contender, not a division cellar dweller. Even with McNabb, they're still the worst team in the NFC East.
  11. Machine, you may get to see "Old Man Bruce", because word is they're finally going to do a regular Batman Beyond series (by `regular', I mean it won't be drawn animated style)! How do I feel about Bruce Wayne coming back? Well, Batman is my favorite DC hero and I am reading the Batman series (but NOT Batman and Robin), but I have no problem with Bruce coming back this soon as long as they keep Dick as Batman for another year or two. I have no doubt Bruce will be Batman again, but hope they don't do something stupid and have him take the mantle back quick. It'll make for some interesting interactions, because Dick did NOT want to be Batman in the first place. He just ended up realizing that someone HAD to be Batman and he was the best choice for the role. (Mainly because Jason Todd wanted it and he is more or less nutso and a cold blooded killer)
  12. What is this, a six team league? 8 team Yahoo league, actually. Its a league at another board I'm a member of. It was going to be bigger, but last year we had some people sign up and either not even play once it started or drop out a month or two into the season. (I generally prefer a 10 or 12 team league in baseball or in football - did a 16 team football last year, and no way I will ever do that again!)
  13. Mine are pretty much the same, except I have the Dodgers winning the NL West and Cardinals over Red Sox in the World Series. I can't wait for the season to start for one reason: Fantasy baseball. I have both Lincecum AND Halladay to strike fear in opposing batters. (My other starters right now are Adam Wainwright, Jon Lester and Hiroki Kuroda, though)
  14. Dick Giordano has died, from complications from Pneumonia. He was also suffering from Leukemia. If you don't know who he was, I suggest looking up his work asap. He's one of the best artists of all time, though he's primarily thought of as an inker. He inked Crisis on Infinite Earths and the Man of Steel mini-series by John Byrne.
  15. By the way, the source I have for McNabb saying he wouldn't go to the Bills or Raiders is the 1st and 10 segment on First Take. Forget who said it, but I don't think it was Skip Bayless. *May* have been Rob Parker. That doesn't necessarily mean I think he shouldn't go to the Raiders (no one in their right mind goes to the Bills, so that's a diffent story), but I'd be surprised if he does. I think the 3 best teams McNabb would fit in with the most would be the Cardinals, Vikings (which won't happen due to them waiting on Favre) or Raiders. The Raiders may challenge for the division, like DMN said, but I expect the Broncos or Chargers to win it, with the Raiders finishing second or third.
  16. So he's the Jim Kelly of NFC Championships!
  17. If the Eagles trade for Nnamdi, it won't be McNabb they trade for him. McNabb has said he won't go to the Bills or Raiders. The Eagles have said they want a top 42 pick for McNabb, and I don't see any team willing to give that up for him unless McNabb is willing to sign a 2-3 year deal with them rather than just be their QB for one year. And I don't see McNabb being willing to go to a team that won't be a contender. He's said he'd be willing to go to the Vikings, but they're waiting on Favre to make up his mind about whether he's coming back or not. So I don't see that happening unless Favre suddenly decides "fuck it, I'm done for good this time" before the draft, and that's not very likely. If the Cardinals are smart, they should consider trading for him. Because with Anderson they'll be lucky if they don't finish near the bottom of the whole league, and taking a chance on Leinart is risky.
  18. I definitely want to check out more of Little Dragon's music after listening to this album, because both songs they are on are two of the best tracks on it. But is it just me, or does it seem like Empire Ants is actually two different songs jammed together as one?
  19. Actually, his face is still messed up. Its just his armor that is fixed.
  20. Just got it today - picked up a new iTunes card this morning and ordered the Deluxe version. The only song I don't like is Glitter Freeze (listening to On Melancholy Hill right now), though I'm not too fond of Sweepstakes, either. If I burn the album to cd or put it on my Mp3 player, Glitter Freeze is definitely getting left off. *edited because I finally finished listening to it; was only halfway through when I made this post*
  21. Mortal Kombat Annihilation sucked for three reasons: 1. They killed off Johnny Cage! Linden Ashby was the best actor in the whole damn movie, and he didn't get to do much before Cage got his neck snapped. 2. The re-casting of Raiden. I don't remember if Christopher Lambert was unavailable, unwilling to do it/wanted too much, or if they didn't even bother asking him. But they could have done a whole lot better than James Remar. Don't get me wrong, he's a good actor, but was all wrong for the part. 3. See #1.
  22. ROFLMAO! The Redskins signed Rex Grossman! :lmao: `Skins fans, I think its about time someone starts up a petition asking for Daniel Snyder's family to have him committed. Now I hope they sign Terrell Owens.....
  23. That's EXACTLY what I thought, and I didn't mention it because I wanted to see if anyone else caught it. Glad you did. It sucks that she's apparently going to be paid DLC, considering she's the final squad member. Would make more sense to make her free and the Hammerhead pay...
  24. Bioware has pics of Kasumi up on the website now. Not too thrilled with the character design, though.
  25. If you absolutely must take out a group of enemies at once, the M-490 Blackstorm Projector in Mass Effect 2, which only people who pre-ordered from Gamestop got. Or the Gatling Gun or Orbital Cannon powers in Champions Online. Against other players, though? The Redeemer from the Unreal Tournament. Nothing beats a remote controlled nuclear missile. For taking out a single opponent, whether its computer controlled, or another person, give me the Rail Detonator from Dark Forces 2 Jedi Knight. Since its secondary fire option sticks the explosive right on the target so there's no escape it hits them. (Though I was better at Lightsaber duels than gunfights against other people in that game)
