This might've been mentioned already, but here's one I always get shit for: Mars Volta. They might be able to play their instruments but jeeeeeeeeeeesssssus are their songs brutal. If anything, Sparta was underrated after the At The Drive In split. They weren't amazing, but they had catchier songs and Mars Volta just seemed to get drooled over at every show I went to.

Just saw Against Me on Friday, and sweet Jesus they were tight. Really rowdy crowd and they just killed it.

Actually the Arctic Monkeys were one of the bands I was thinking of when I started this thread. I was talking to a buddy from England I met while travelling and I said I just didn't get why everyone loved them so much. He says "well yeah, that's why they say don't believe the hype at the start of their video". I couldn't really disagree with that.

Apparently that used to happen to David Bowie when he was touring with Nine Inch Nails. He'd play it, and people would say "it's cool that you played a Nirvana song". Jake Bugg's weird. I liked him when I saw him live - but that was before he had an album out, and I had no idea who he was, so it was just some kid with a guitar at a folk festival. I don't get why he got as big as he is - but then, that's true of most artists. He also had a fan ask him why he sampled Vanilla Ice sooo... Offspring are passable to me for Smash, but I find any album after Ixnay got deleted off my hard drive long long ago. Can we just change the topic to Music Snobbery.

For some reason Unplugged really hasn't aged well for me. It may be because I've discovered some bands/groups that have become my favorite acoustic acts, or have great acoustic versions, but whenever I listen to it I just don't really feel it as much anymore.

I always thought The Beatles were good, but I don't think their psychedelic bit aged well, at least for me. It just seems like one of those wacky 60's things. I also thought Led Zep wasn't as good as everyone says. Don't get me wrong, I think their musicianship is unreal, songs are very good, but I feel like The Who was better for like a catchy hook. Can't dislike anything without being a hipster these days.

Just wondering what bands that have been completely hyped up that, when you heard them, you just thought 'what the shit?' Haim is a big one for me. I kept reading rave reviews of this great all-girl rock group, then I saw them on SNL and thought they were god awful.

So I saw some pic of a band from Australia that were a bunch of young guys dressed like they were in Mötley Crue, and the article kept calling them metal. I have a feeling they aren't, but can anyone tell me who they are so I can kill my curiosity?

I think the big thing too is how many there are. That scene where Darryl got the car stuck and they panned up, just TONS of them. Then factor in that most military are overseas so it's not like it's a full fledged military strike.

They were standing elbow strikes to the side of the head, coming down at an angle, what's illegal about that? I thought it was downward elbows too? I saw the Gonzaga fight and those looked greasy, but I wasn't sure on the rule.
