  1. I guess I don't think its impossible for them to leave (Chelsea are exceptional at getting their targets), my main feeling is just that I hope this doesn't create too many problems for Atletico next season, as its a great thing to see El Classico lose a stranglehold on La Liga.

Okay more game time in...so there actually heaps of game-breaking bugs in this game (Tropico 5), and the time periods force sort of a boring linear aspect to the gameplay which is quite stifling, the UI also seems to have gone backwards with important info obscured or completely hidden, building options handicapped... I can only assume this is deliberate to set-up future DLC at 10 bucks a pop. That's just disgusting, essentially they are selling a beta release as a full-game, then asking you to pay more in the undisclosed future for DLC morcels just to bring the gameplay depth up to the level of the previous release. Now that this release got me back interested in the Tropico series after a hiatus I think i'll just go back to playing Tropico 4 with all the DLC, as it's a complete game. In Tropico 5 the rebels are basically bugged, and can never be removed - you can't even build prisons or labour camps. Criminals no longer exist as citizens, teamsters don't work properly, the budget slider is a poor substitute for wage control etc. It sucks coz I was enjoying some of the visual upgrades and the little sprinkles of new concepts but at this point I couldn't suggest anyone actually pay money for this game. 3/10 Papayas

Plus ManU want Miranda, don't see Atletico selling 4 of their La Liga winning starters in one window though, and will be very disappointed if they do.   5. Anyone given the new Tropico a go? I accquired it recently... seems pretty much the same game as before with some tweaks... all of which I don't really get at this point. How does trade work? Why should I buy pineapples or lumber? What benefit is that to me? I get maybe that later game you could buy primary goods and then process them into luxuries, so wood into lumber into furniture... but in the colonial era what is the point of importing? Also whilst i'm posting random grievances... I don't get what the 'budget' given to each location (house, farm etc. whatever) is for, is that like wages from the previous game? I liked how you used to be able to control wages across different locations to attract workers or if necessary lower costs in times of debt, anyone have any ideas? Overall it's fun, I like the Tropico games, and the little tweaks are mostly improvements on the previous title (so if you liked tropico 4, then you'll like this too). One thing I don't like is now I don't seem to be able to control my avatar... in previous titles you could use your avatar to fight, and click them around the island to boost production etc. In this game those abilities seem to have been removed. The whole 'dynasty' feature seems interesting, but like many things I haven't figured out it's purpose yet.

  7. Pretty sure it's not a 'race' unless there is more than one person in it --------- Impressed by Leceister's business so far, smart (cheap) signings that add quality/depth - they're like anti-QPR as far as newly promoted teams go.

Haha I know, but i've only just started playing it so that part doesn't bother me Plus it's a low budget indie release so development out of alpha etc. is always going to be slow (see: every indie game ever), but it's still a lot of fun if you're into the zombie-survival genre - even in its unfinished state. They've recently augmented the cooking system, and added fishing, with trapping to come soon down the line also. Besides, great game to have on shit pc or macs you may have lying around since the specs are so damn low.

'Discovered' Project Zomboid which is on sale at the humble store for like 12 bucks? https://www.humblebundle.com/store Man it's fun, even in Alpha, sometimes brutal/punishing gameplay, but the satisfaction of securing my first proper safehouse (walled in with good farming space) was unbelievable. I don't play video games that much these days besides LoL, but this is probably the first game since Skyrim came out that I actually couldn't turn off... can't wait for NPCs etc.
  11. I get that being a forward isn't all about scoring goals... but it's mainly about scoring goals. In the past four seasons of the EPL Shola has been in he has has 11 goals 9 assists in 103 games, that's getting to Torres territory. Though in his defence he had more appearances in that games list as a sub than a starter which can potentially lower someones goal-game ratio. I'm not saying he is terrible or even a bad buy for a team like Hull, they don't have a player like him at the moment, but most of all they need goal scorers and he is not really that sort of player.

  13. Why isn't Liverpool going in for Shaw? Certainly not because the squad is set for LB, we had to get a loanee for the squad this season; and Flanagan is although good is really a natural RB. I'm guessing the cost? Or perhaps the need for better defensive options in CB or DM.
  14. Unfortunately he can't pass, and his defence is not that great either. Basically he is quick, that's about it. He doesn't have the technical ability for what Liverpool need.

The best way to resolve subjective disputes is to change the framework of the debate; instead of talking about peoples opinions of X workers charisma or historical significance to the industry re-frame the debate around the game mechanics. As TheWho87 points out the game has criteria, as well as pre-existing gimmicks - why not use these? If someone wants to switch X worker to a unique gimmick in their data set so be it. Otherwise, workers should be assigned gimmicks that fit pre-existing moulds. If such a mould exists for a worker then that should be the gimmick they are assigned. It doesn't have to be perfect. Gimmicks should not be created for specific workers like 'Cerebral Assasin', or 'The Hulkster' or something. The categories are designed to be broadly understood and used, this is a text-based game and you are supposed to use an element of your imagination also. Such that you could have two workers assigned the same gimmick but from a gamer or 'role-playing' perspective you ('the player') would understand that these two individuals are not identical or 'acting' their gimmick the same way... but this is up to you, in your head. TEW2013 makes this a bit easier to manage as the gimmick file is more complicated, and there is a great gimmick file available currently that shows how you can replicate subtlety in gimmicks. Unfortunately in EWR this needs to fall more or less solely on the players imagination. Moreover, If someone is not capable of receiving a 100% segment (or have not in the past) then they should not be given a 'unique' gimmick. That is a logical criteria to use that is grounded in the logic of the game, as opposed to external sentiments. Something that is 'unique' is by definition rare, assigning this gimmick is rare - there are only a small handful of people who will ever meet the criteria. The first choice should always be to assign a pre-existing gimmick, this prevents subjective disagreements such as X should have 'unique.'

  17. Are there any good sci-fi shows airing at the moment? I was a Stargate SG1/Atlantis tragic, also a fan of Firefly, Star Trek TV series, and Battlestar Galactica. Are there any programs of this mould still around? Or recently?
  18. I'm not sure if the author of that article is just bad at doing English (the only logical answer) but this sentence... "Strategy game addicts have been waiting almost 15 years for another sci-fi 4X game, and the next big thing from Firaxis is just that'" ...Seems to be implying there hasn't been a 'sci-fi 4x game' since Alpha Centauri was released 15 years ago. To which I say, does the author even 4X? The entire genre is essentially 'sci-fi' games and there has been probably a dozen released since 1999, and many of them good, and even better than Alpha Centauri. I think he wanted to say something like 'Strategy game addicts have been waiting almost 15 years for another [installment of a Sid Meier 'Sci-Fi'] 4X game, and the next big thing from Firaxis is just that' ... or something to that effect. -------------- Also as other people have said here, from the bare details in the article etc. this new game does sound a little bit like a re-skinned Civ 5, which is not a good thing. Although I'm sure there will be differentiation, it would have been cooler if it was actually a sequel rather than just Civ in Space with a nominal 'hat tip' to Centauri (which is what it sounds like at this point). Here's hoping they actually put effort into making it unique.
  19. Anyone here play 4X games? I tried to get back into Armada 2526 (probably my favourite 4x after MOO2) so I can play mutliplayer with my mate, but can't find the latest version of Iceman's mod. Anyone have it, or know where I could get it from? Are there any new 4X games worth checking out?

As a Liverpool fan the Chelsea game will be a massive war, but there's no way I'll believe they'll win the title until all games are played (we could easily drop points in the other three games). At this point I'm still expecting City to win it, Hendersons' suspension hurts Liverpool a lot because the squad is so thin, and I just can't see the streak continuing until the end, especially without Hendo in the side, he's very important at the moment. It'll be a great achievement if they do win it, an absolute upset though as far I'm concerned. The title really is City's for the taking still I think.
  21. Agreed, there's no way Lesnar would be even above 60. There's a reason why he always has a mouthpiece talk for him, it's because he can't talk. Even when he has to deliver just one-off lines he's atrocious. With mic skills in the 70s he wouldn't even need a manager in-game to get good ratings for his own promos, which is obviously not the case. He's one of the worst talkers on the roster by a huge margin. Firstly, you're a sockpuppet for FusionFx right? Anyway, 'Raise Roman Reigns' brawl and psychology' to what though? Just saying 'lower' it isn't really helpful... ditto for the other suggestions of 'lower' and 'raise' things by unstated amounts without reasoning being given. Also sex appeal '85'? Is there something else I'm missing here? '85' for a male worker means that normally heterosexual men would be falling over in front of him and clawing at his clothes (amongst other things). 'Sex appeal' is a stat designed for female workers, its main purpose is use in 'sex appeal' rated angles. Generally speaking, this allows (female) workers who have no useful skills apart from being good looking to get over, this simulates how being hot can you get a woman over (up to a certain cap) without actually being able to wrestle. Reigns got over using 'menace', 'star quality' and 'dominant' booking notes. By rating Reigns at '85' you're basically saying that the WWE universe/wrestling fans generally, would react to Reigns being used in a 'sex appeal' angle similarly or better than a very attractive woman. This also ignores the fact that the WWE, and basically no wrestling promotion I can think of, would try to get Reigns over using 'sex appeal', he might be popular with female fans (which would mean a higher than default sex appeal sure), but if you look at the Cverse for example, the highest rated male worker for sex appeal has an 82, and that is an extreme outlier reserved for a male-sex god. Someone posted an analysis of the Cverse stats on GDS a while back; this analysis listed the top 10% range for male workers in sex appeal to be at 52, meaning if you had 52 or over you had made into the bracket of 'most sexiest man in the wrestling universe'... a 52 was all that was needed to be in the top 10% bracket! My understanding is that it The Candice & Joey show, it depends on your logic for the "known" function, does known mean its known they have a problem with the substance or does it just mean their known to use it, for example its pretty well known Steve Austin drinks but he has never had it effect his in ring performance so does that mean he shouldnt have it checked? RE: Lifestyles, it's a super-sensitive slider so caution is always advised. Unless Candice has been turning up to wrestling shows intoxicated, and it has been affecting her performance she should probably have zero per cent on the slider. Personally I would leave it completely off and not bother with the 'known' thing either since how she behaves at a non-wrestling event shouldn't really have bearing on the lifestyle stats. I wouldn't check it for Stone Cold either; basically the feature doesn't work that well - at least not for real world mods or scenarios, as if you look at some of the historical scenarios people are pinged all over the place for substances, which kills match and segment ratings far in excess of anything we saw in real life from these workers. Stone Cold may have been a massive alco but if it didn't show in his performances it shouldn't appear on the sliders because that is what they simulate.

  24. It just makes it seem like he's already been told he's gonna get the boot at the end of the season and he has just mentally imploded. Given media speculation re: van Gaal etc. and recent form he probably is on the out but abandoning the touch-line/his team (!) seems really unprofessional (unless he's being told to do it of course). In the article I read he was like 'yeah I just get a good view up here [in the director's box].' As if being able to analyse the game, his players movement etc. from the stand gives him some keen insight he couldn't get from just reviewing the tape of the match afterwards. I mean, I know fuck all about coaching/management, but surely it would be better for morale to have him giving instruction and motivation from the pitch? It goes without saying though I guess. On the upside for Spurs fans at least the club have been linked with some quality managers for next term, van Gaal, Ancelotti etc. could give the club a big boost in mentality.
  25. Is it just me or has Rooney been 'simulating' a bit lately? I didn't watch this game (but going on comments here), same thing against Liverpool, and I can't remember if it was in the Villa game or just the other Liverpool game Man U had? It's not all time, but I've seen it two or three times (albeit only once a game) recently.
