  1. I started a game as Man Utd, walked a treble in my first season. Then lost my first 3 games of the next season. Transfer system seems to be completely unchanged. 3 prominent members of that squad I want rid of, for bargain prices, and nobody is interested. Sigh!
  2. They had a great E3 showing, from what I heard, basically blew everyone away with their vids. Then failed to show anything new, or at all, after that. Still, could be very good. And DeusEx Invisible War was so bad, this one cant help but be better received. Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
  3. Well, the default training schedules are decent enough. And after a while, there are some very good training schedules released via the different communities. Tug does ones that seem to ALWAYS get your players to reach their full PA, whether that is high or low is another thing of course. Thats the one I use personally, obviously he doesnt have a new one out yet. So, long story short, yeah, the community generally does get very much on top of training schedules.
  4. I have become obsessed with kasabian, ever since I saw them at Slane, with Oasis and Prodigy. Also, Progidy's newest album is class!
  5. I guess what I was trying to say was, she may have appreciated her predicament, but all things considered, can you trust her appreciation of that predicament? Wasn't particularly trying to get on your back or anything, even if it may have seemed that way As for debate, was just a personal thing, as I had these debates with a few friends of mine, who are film students in London, who seemed universally to think that he should be let off, forming their opinions based on his works, in so far as thats why they gave him the benefit of the doubt. Then again, maybe I am in a similar boat, in that all I can see is "Rape" and "Minor", and nothing else.
  6. I dunno if it would have been dismissed as irrelevant, but surely, on the moralist grounds, you cant argue about consent etc, if he needed to get her drunk. Surely, if she was good to go, he wouldn't have needed to get her plastered. Plus, mature for her age or not, age of consent laws are there to protect people, of that age, whose hormones etc are going wild, and cant be trusted with these decisions. What he did was wrong in the extreme, and I can't help but think that the only reason ANY kind of debate is going on, is because he is an oscar winning director. Imagine, had she been a boy and he been a priest, would there be the same debate? Or just an everday man in his 40's and a 13 year old girl?
  7. He got her drunk first, so surely the whole argument of elasticity on the age of consent doesn't apply, since he had to ply her with alcohol.
  8. Yeah, thats complete bollacks. No matter what team he was playing he would, and rightly so, still get pilloried for it. The only players I could see getting away with it, would maybe be Vidic, Gerrard or Lampard, for varying reasons, and even then thats a long shot.
  9. Started a new game as Man Utd, and am mid way through the 2011/2012 season, and Welbeck just cannot stop scoring. He is leading the goalscoring charge with 19, and its only December. Cant decide who to keep out of the team now, I mean Rooney is Rooney afterall, but Berbatov is second highest scorer. Oh well, at least they are all scoring. Luckily for me, Rafael is also turning into one of the best RB in the league, so its all good.
  10. After 2 years as manager of France, I somehow managed to stumble my way to the Euro finals, and whallop Italy 4-0, something which I thought would never happen since I had scraped my way in. After that triumph, and a lot press stories saying "proud day for the fans" etc etc, I decided I needed to repay them by returning to Italy, this time as national team manager. Interestingly enough, this is the second time I have moved into a job after Mourinho vacated it, first time at Inter. Anyway, time to fill the national team with the Inter kids I had been nurturing.
  11. Yeah, I have been following it, really good show. The end of the second episode was harsh though, hard to watch, but in a good way I guess, since thats what they were going for. Tom Hardy is good, considering he was a bad guy in a terrible Star Trek movie
  12. I finally left Inter anyway, after getting my hands on the Champions League. Felt it was the right time to go. Took over the France job, but man are they short on quality regens. Really need to search hard to get decent players, under 33 in the squad. I would have thought they would be one country with a steady stream of good regens. The Argentina job I turned down looks so much sweeter now.
  13. Just won a 5th Serie A title in a row with Inter. Was spanked by AC in the CL quarters, and the Italian Cup final though. Think I will make next season my last at Inter. Theres a World Cup in the summer, bound to be some choice international vacancies around. Last time, Brazil, Argentina, Italy, England and Portugal all got rid of their managers after the WC.
  14. I have decided to stay, and try to first, make a team where everyone is HG in Italy, then all HG from Inter. Not gonna let anyone make a first team debut from now on, unless they count as homegrown. Might extend that to making an all Italian team later on. Just to keep things interesting.
  15. Just won 6 trophies in 1 season at Inter, in my fifth season. Been rebuilding the squad slowly after a bad 2nd and 3rd season. Only found out after I clinched the Champions League against AC that I had actually won every competition I was in. Dunno what I should do now though, stay on with Inter, to keep the squad together, or move on to build another team up.
  16. I cant decide what to do with Balotelli in my Inter game. I have 4 strikers, and he would be 3rd, maybe even 4th choice. His stats are good, but he seems to be underperforming a tad, being outscored by the other 3, and even one of my CM's. I also want to bring in Saivet, resume our working relationship, but that would then bring me up to 5 strikers, with only 1 over 30. Though, the amount Blackburn are demanding for Saivet is rediculous, like 20 times what I bought him for when I was at Blackburn. Oh, the pitfalls of managing a top club.
  17. Definitely agree about Alonso, should be on there instead of either Giggs or Van der Sar. I also think Fellaini or Cahill should have been on there, both have been class for Everton, imo.
  18. Van der Sar and Giggs should not be in there at all, and thats coming from a Utd fan. Giggs just hasnt played enough to be in contention, and Van der Sar is in there for a record that was created by Rio, Vidic, and a midfield full of confidence who protected the backline. There are quite a few worthier people who missed out on that list, but thats what you get when the voting happens in Feb/March.
  19. Quarantine is without doubt my favourite episode. Just classic.
  20. Its all about Harrington, he is gonna win, and gonna be the only man other than Tiger to simultaneously hold all 4 at the same time. Oh yeah, bank on that one! (May simply be Irish bravado!)
  21. Fabio, Rafael, Tosic and Ljajic all seem to come good on the 9.3 patch. Certainly good enough to use as squad players for an assault on all competitions. Keep a hold of Petrucci as well. He has the potential to be very good AMC, and my coaches were always high on his potential, but it seems that he takes longer to get there. Id wait until he is about 22/23 before deciding on him. As for Possebon and Macheda, they didnt come good for me, so, keep them for as long as your comfortable with, then ship them off. Really, everyone in your Reserves/U18, other then Rafael, Fabio, Possebon, Ljajic, Macheda, Welbeck, and at a push Gibson and Cathcart, are pretty much dead weight. The only reason I have ever had for playing them, or offering new contracts, is to try to get some money for them later on. As far as strengthening goes, id say CB. Evans can be hit or miss, i find, sometimes turns good, sometimes, just above average. If I were to suggest someone, Mamadou Sakho would be the man, from PSG, but expect to pay through the nose for him. He is almost guaranteed to be a future World Class CB. Otherwise, you dont even really need to buy to replace players like Giggs or Scholes, since you have a lot of players there, who can easily step up, like Nani, Tosic and Anderson. However, if you want an all purpose forward player, AM RLC, FC, I would go with Saivet from Bordeaux. Natural FC, but can fill in anywhere in the AM positions. The squad is almost perfect as is though.
  22. Clearly, since we seem to be including Fern Gully songs, it's all about Toxic Love. Speaking of Fern Gully, did that movie, specifically Tim Curry, scare the shit out of anyone else as a kid? I had nightmares about it!
  23. I'm in my third season as Utd now, wont 2 Premierships, but last season was beaten by Barca in the CL final, who knocked me out at the semis the year before, bastards! And then was denied a double when Tottenham beat me in the FA Cup final. I hate Darren Bent! Was actually expecting a difficult year, shipped a few players out, promoted some youth, and demoted some senior players to reserves, so I thought I had made too many changes too quickly, but its working out pretty well. im on a 22 game unbeaten run that stretches back into last season, just beat Liverpool at Anfield, and destroyed Spurs to avenge my FA Cup defeat. Along the way, I decided that Rio should be my captain from the start, now he is described as a Legendary Centre Back, pretty cool.
  24. The guy who does the voice for Bill would be perfect for Bill anyway. Hes the guy with the mail order bride in Dodgeball. He just looks like the guy already
  25. As of January 2011, 1. Man Utd - Me (via Fergie) 2. Arsenal - Hitzfeld (via Wenger) 3. Chelsea - still Avram 4. Man City - Sven 5. Spurs - Marcelino (via Ramos to Fernandez) 6. Villa - Paul Jewell (via O'Neill) 7. Newcastle - Kevin Keegan (how unrealistic ) 8. West Ham - Alan Curbishley 9. Liverpool - Javier Aguirre (via Rafa) 10. Portsmouth - Mark Hughes (via Harry) 11. Reading - Steve Coppell 12. Sunderland - Roy Keane 13. Wigan - Steve Bruce 14. Blackburn - Mike Newell (via Hughes, Mark Bowen, then Hughes again) 15. Everton - Dominic Kinnear (via Moyes) 16. Fulham - Roy Hodgson 17. Bolton - Big Sam (via Gary Megson) 18. Southampton - Aidy Boothroyd (via Joe Kinnear) 19. Leicester - Ian Holloway 20. West Brom - Tony Mowbray Not too many changes so far. Wenger and Benitez are at Barca and Inter respectively, doing very well for themselves, while their old teams arent doing that well (Arsenal have come close, but just havent won anything really since Wenger left.) Who are the new super powers in everyones games nowadays? Real are still knocking about at the top, and so are Inter. Barca, not so much these days, nor Milan. Lazio seem to be the main rivals to Inter now. In fact, Italy is being a bit weird, in that Inter are fifth, behind Lazio, Parma, Udinese and Catania. In Spain, the main players are Murcia (wtf?) Vallodolid, Ossasuna and Real. Weird stuff.
