  1. After this summer (specifically contracts like the ones given to Rudy Gay and Travis Outlaw) Deng's contract is actually reasonable for a three of his caliber. His long range shot has kept improving and he looks good in Thibodeau's offense so far. Not to mention he's one of the best rebounders for his position. #1 offensive option? Never. Great third scorer behind Rose and Boozer? Definitely.
  2. Being a nerd, I made an Excel sheet with all of my movies sorted by year, then by increasing imdb average rating. I've been watching them in order, which started out awesomely with the "Dollar Trilogy" (Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More and The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.) Today I watched The Goonies, The Breakfast Club and then Back to the Future to polish off 1985. I think those movies are all common knowledge enough not to have to comment on but DAMN was that a blast of nostalgia. Of course next is 1986, which doesn't look quite as promising. Ah well, at least I'll get to watch David Bowie's codpiece and Lance Henriksen getting disemboweled by an alien queen.
  3. I caught part of Tombstone a few months ago and I hadn't seen in since before I watched Lost. Totally didn't recognize Locke as the guy from that for the entire time I watched the series.
  4. Only got one at first glance
  5. Having seen a fair number of amateur films (and acted in a few... hmm, this sentence could be misinterpreted) I have to say that this one is pretty decent. The shots are mostly decent and I can look past a few of the "ACTING!" and bad CGI moments. If this guy got to put forth a version of this with a larger budget it would be pretty nice. Definitely the best fanmade film I've seen and this makes me want to see some more video game movies, ha. Maybe Prince of Persia will have a "Pirates" vibe?
  6. I imagine the first game I played was SOMETHING on the Atari, as I vaguely remember an uncle having one really far back in the day. This would likely have been Pac-Man or something like that. I vividly remember when my dad buying us an NES. Somehow, I found out that the Nintendo cost $100, which was an unfathomable amount of money back then. We were eating dinner and my dad pulled out a $100 bill. I flipped out because I knew this meant I was getting Nintendo somehow. He brought back the Nintendo with Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt and years of nerd-dom was born. Niiiiiiiiice.
  7. Despite having a terrible offensive coordinator and no quality WRs to speak of, Kyle Orton showed signs of promise during his time with the Bears and managed to become a decent starter with Denver where he had Brandon Marshall and the ghosts of the shattered dreams of Shannon Sharpe and Terrell Davis to work with. If NECKBEARD can make something out of nothing in just as dysfunctional environment, "one of the best pure athletes" to ever be taken with the #1 pick doesn't really have an excuse.
  8. Perhaps the greatest moment in my life just occurred when I happened to be viewing a video clip from Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warrior's focused on the character of Kincaid. Synopsis: Every character in that movie has a dream power. Kincaid's dream power is that he is ridiculously strong. Whilst I arbitrarily play this clip, what song comes on in iTunes? "Break the Walls Down" from WWF Aggression RIGHT as Kincaid breaks a wall down. Classy. I experienced another moment of musical synchronization a few years ago. I was driving back from work one day and "Knights Of Cydonia" was playing on either the radio or a mix CD I had made. My car or some other noise spooked a group of birds on BOTH sides of the road and prompted them to emerge from the trees at the same time and start flying in one direction at approximately 0:58 seconds into this video. Serend.. sere..er.. um... Good timing coincidence happened there at that point. I guess the point of this thread would be to ask if people have had similar experiences with music syching up with certain real-time events that seemed really weird/preordained or whatever. I'm sure it's happened and DAMNIT. The public has a right to know!
  9. The OKC "whiteout" is one of the more impressive things I've ever seen from an NBA crowd. You just don't get that level of solidarity in the pro ranks nowadays. OKC stumbled in the first game but these guys are for real. I see them winning at least one championship in the next five years.
  10. I thought of this almost immediately after I saw Tebow with the Denver cap, glad I wasn't the only one. If Trey & Matt gave it to Cutler like they did I absolutely can't WAIT for Tebow. Any Bears fans on the board? I know secondary was an issue, but what's the word on Major Wright?
  11. Can't wait for the Tebow episode of South Park. If they gave Cutler his treatment years ago... yeah. Interesting fit for TT
  12. Hate to say it but naiwf is right. Wish the Bulls coule pull of a miracle but I'll just assume they get a better coach and Bosh this offseason and then get read to DOMINATE! Agree that Magic and Mavs have the toughest series because they're lazy as shit. LBJ with Jamison and wingman will be tough to overcome this season. OKC might be the toughest series the Lakers have during the playoffs. I'll go "boring, no upsets" and say Lakers-Cavs final.
  13. I hope Bulls get at least one... considering getting playoff tix for them..
  14. Lots of teams go for stretches upon stretches of not winning Super Bowls or not even making the playoffs. Stewart and Maddox playing average ball and making the playoffs I would DEFINITELY qualify as "just fine" for any number of teams. Getting used to winning SuperBowls or making conference championships every other year doesn't make an average season a TERRIBLE season. When's the last time Pitt drafted in the top three? The Steelers consistently put a good enough/entertaining enough team on the field to sell tickets and remain a draw. I'm not sure what more you can ask for out of an NFL market. Kordell Stewart/Tommy Maddox does NOT a perennial loser/embarrassment make.
  15. I can absolutely see Ben in a Rams jersey next season. Tehy're the type of team that will take the hit for a few seasons of rebuilding just so they can maintain a good "character" image. Steelers fans will keep waving the terrible towels and Pittsburgh will make Bradford their franchise QB. This is the team that did just fine with Kordell Stewart and Tommy Maddox for crying out loud. Bradford on the Steelers and Ben on the Rams makes a ton of sense when you look at the philosophies of the two teams.
  16. Of course we can run the ball, why, just the other day I...
  17. The Bears don't have flaws. Please don't mention receiving, or the possibility of defending against receiving. I may cry.
  18. Nash was given the MVP because around that time the popularity of the NBA wasn't doing very good. Kobe, Shaq & AI were all pretty popular but a lot of the current big names hadn't been created yet. The MVPs for Nash helped showcase an exciting brand of basketball to get viewers hooked. They didn't win any championships or make it to the finals, but those Phoenix teams were fun to watch. The NBA wanted to push the run and gun style since there was a distinct lack of name players at the time. Right after and right around that time you started getting your "name" players back as Lebron, Wade and Dwight all started to emerge to join Kobe. (I would argue that Shaq and AI don't hold the same appeal currently. Well... maybe Shaq, but no way for Iverson.)
  19. He's the only one who can walk in both worlds. He's Ghost Rider.
  20. I rather enjoyed the video. OVERUSED K-K-K-KILLER INSTINCT REFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. I chose my song on a whim, this song was VERY close.
  22. Alien Ant Farm - "Glow" is unbelievably catchy, but I'm going to go with "These Days" from truANT. I like their earlier stuff, but for some reason I like truANT a bit more than ANThology. Avril Lavigne -"Let Go" is actually a nice little pop album. "Things I'll Never Say" is one of the deep cuts that is actually quite a bit better than that complicated skater boy stuff they put on the radio. Ben Folds Five -Sooooooooooo many songs to choose from. I did sound design for a show where I used predominently Ben Folds and Ben Folds Five songs (the director's idea, not mine) so I got into them as a result of that. I'd have to go with "Philosophy" here, there's some epic piano-ing here. CKY - Haven't heard a ton of them, "96 Quite Bitter Beings" is good, but I'll go with "Sporadic Movement" based on nothing more than personal preference. Coldplay - "Fix You" has always struck a chord with me, I don't know if it's cheesy or a lame song to like, but that's my choice hands down. Daft Punk - Gotta be "Da Funk." "Harder Better Faster Stronger" makes a good remix track, but the original is a bit overplayed and a little boring after a while. Deftones -"RX Queen." The entire White Pony album is great though. I'm also fond of "Minerva" from that dreadful self-titled album. Feeder - I've really only heard the single "High," so....... The Get Up Kids -"Don't Hate Me," I have a cousin named Amie who would always play this song so it tends to get stuck in my head a bit. In Flames - Gotta be "Cloud Connected." I haven't heard a ton from these guys, but that's an awesome track. The Killers - Tempted to say "The Things That I've Done" because of Southland Tales, but "Mr. Brightside" is hard to top. Modest Mouse - I've always like "Ocean Breathes Salty" but I think I'm going to pick "Tiny Cities Made Of Ash" because it brings together the quirky and the melodic stuff about MM that I dig the most. Muse - "Hysteria." A thousand times this. New Order - "Ceremony" is pretty awesome, as is "Bizarre Love Triangle" but I love me some "Regret." Weezer -Much like BF5, TONS to choose from here. Um... "No One Else?"
  23. Much as I loved this show. I must admit that during the original run I often found myself running to reruns of Quantum Leap on Sci-Fi instead. POWER RANGERS JUMPED THE SHARK WITH ALL THE TOMMY CRAP. THERE! I SAID IT!
  24. If only he showed that kind of accuracy during his playing days...
  25. To be fair, Saxton looks like a complete badass in grayscale.
