  1. Why? Having the top pick doesn't mean anything in this draft. Exactly. You could hear it from the commentators when they were talking about who Washington would take with the second pick. "IDK... Len? Otto Porter went to Georgetown..." 2003 this ain't.
  2. I hope I never have to see the Gilberts on television again.
  3. This is about to turn into every basketball forum I've ever seen on the team nickname topic. I'm just waiting for the multi-team trade that inevitably involves the Jazz going to New Orleans and the Lakers going to Minnesota and the T'Wolves going to Orlando.
  4. I had the ABC song stuck in my head the other day. Not the song by The Jacksons, the one you learn to remember the alphabet.
  5. It's bigger on the inside?
  6. The Doctor's name is Slartibartfast EDIT: I KNEW I wouldn't be able to spell that right without google
  7. Let's set the stage for that surrendering guy. You're in your early twenties and have had enough wherewithal until now to survive a zombie apocalypse. Do you believe that a) this kid is serious about shooting you and b) you are incapable of overpowering him when he tries to take your gun from you? There's a reason he didn't drop his weapon and it's because he never had any intention of giving up the gun. Regardless of how Rick and Hershel feel about it, he made the right call.
  8. He'll always be Alan Pangborn with a fro, to me.
  9. Those were some good comments, comments that you can't see on Dish Network.
  10. I. I only beat it recently with the GBA version. I remember way back when playing this and Dragon Warrior on NES and being COMPLETELY out of my league and not getting very far at all. (A wikipedia check shows it was released in 1990 in the states. If I played it when it first came out... yikes, seven years old. No wonder I got owned.) It was decent for what it was, but I have no desire to play it again anytime soon. II. Again, I've only played and beaten the remake. The leveling system is REALLY weird, but I don't remember the game being too bad. I may give it another go sometime. III. Never played. IV. Remember playing this a ton for SNES. IMO, this is where story and character really start to take center stage. My only complaint is it feels like there are a few areas where you get stuck if you don't grind for a RIDICULOUSLY long time, but that just makes it that much more worth it when you finally beat it. V. Recently played this after holding out for a long time. I remember playing it back when the anthology came out but I got stuck at Shiva and couldn't really get a handle on the job system so I quit and never went back. On my recent playthrough the big thing that struck me is the sense of humor this game has about itself. I dare anyone to not crack a smile at the interactions between Bartz and Ghido. A LOT better than I thought it would be. Having played this after VI, I couldn't help but get the feeling that they were trying a lot of things out in this one. VI. I can't add much more than what everyone else has said. Epic story, epic villain. I played the hell out of this game when it was first released on the SNES and I played the hell out of it later on when it came out on Anthology. I will admit it got confusing after you get to The World of Ruin, but I didn't even really mind because I had an absolute blast just playing this, leveling espers and working on equipment combos and all that. One of my favorite games of all time.
  11. I don't care what they do with Star Wars as long as I get Guybrush Threepwood in the next PotC movie.
  12. Harden trade is a pretty even deal for both teams. What would put it over the top is if OKC eventually flipped Martin for a low post scorer like Al Jefferson. Lamb is supposed to be pretty good and he could hypothetically step into the Harden role. If not, maybe Martin can recapture his late-Sacto/early-Houston form off the bench. Lin and Harden is an interesting backcourt. I still think Houston has another deal in the pipeline: someone like Smith/Horford from ATL or Jefferson/Millsap from Utah. Stoked for the season, even if my Bulls won't be very watchable for the first half of it...
  13. They need to focus on the early days of Son of Coul, showing how he was able to amass his vast collection of vintage Captain America cards. It could be like Pokemon meets Sons of Anarchy.
  14. Well, that card WAS good forever. Come to think of it, Batman & Robin also closes up the plot hole of how Bane was able to sneak into Gotham and plant all those bombs undetected.
  15. "Bruce was broke" isn't really a plot hole. He was broke in the sense that he was no longer a financially viable head of a corporation, but he was in no way penniless. The only thing Bane accomplished with his stock market shenanigans was the elimination of certain non-liquid assets and trade-able commodities. Wayne likely has large savings accounts at any number of standard banks that wouldn't be subject to any trades like that. I'm sure he had several hundred thousand dollars squirreled away in such a fashion. This doesn't even take into account the large available credit balances he was sure to have access to. TL;DR: Dude could afford a plane ticket.
  16. The Blazers won't even go for that. They want Batum back under any circumstances, so they'll just match it and move on. Pfft. Minnesota just throws in J.J. Barea to fill the Blazers hole at PG! Not one, not two, not three...
  17. One thing I'm finding really annoying about this offseason that I don't remember from previous seasons are the "troll" offer sheets. Asik and Fields spring to mind. "We're only paying him 7 million for two seasons, but the last season is 92 million dollars! Your move, other team!" Is this backloading thing new, because I swear there used to be "max raises" between seasons that didn't allow that sort of thing.
  18. Why, you've probably never ever seen your own face in the mirror, have you?
  19. With the release of the sequel, I finally went back to do a replay of Final Fantasy XIII. When it first came out, I had gotten to about Chapter 4 or 5 (I remember getting stuck on Odin but I don't remember if I ever made it past him) when a ton of things hit me all at once in my personal life and I never went back to it. I just wrapped up Chapter 7 and I'm having a lot more fun with the battle system than I remember. Digging the characters as well. If I want a break from that it's NBA 2k12 all the way.
  20. Following the NBA Alaa Abdelnaby rule of unnecessary A's! Antti Aalto!
  21. Legendary goalkeep Glenn Healy!
  22. Continuing my "watch everything I own in the order it was released" initiative. Finished 1986 with Aliens and I forgot just how epic that movie is. You still see elements of this film in just about every action/sci-fi released after it. The end where the queen is ripping up the floor looking for Newt is still one of the most genuinely frightening monster movie cat and mouse moments ever. Debating whether I want to kick off 1987 just yet. Dolph Lundgren vs. Frank Langella with guest appearances from Principal Strickland and The Future Ex-Miss WCW Heavyweight Champion seem like a bit of a drop-off... Oh who am I kidding? That sounds awesome! I HAVE THE POWER!
