    just some good stuff
  2. Im sure we will despite it being something Salah has always had a habit of doing
  3. Who could have predicted a draw between Liverpool and Chelsea
  4. This is all fascinating to me. There's a big palaver online over transfer chat that I just cannot be arsed with half the time but this is genuinely interesting as it has generated a lot of, probably, agent-generated noise. I like that Liverpool and Brighton are both just holding steady over the whole thing. I assume this stuff happens all the time in transfers but we just don't always see it in the public sphere. Whatever happens, maybe Caicedo should ditch the agent and get a new one.
  5. I think this was why Alexis Sanchez allegedly turned down Liverpool wasn't it? He wanted to live in London.
  6. This is a good thread on the public nature of transfers
  7. pretty much I mean, he is due to have a medical with Liverpool. This seems to run contrary to a report saying "No i actually want to go to Chelsea" several hours later. I'd assume to get to the point of a medical you'd have to have agreed personal terms with the club, surely? Doesn't make the player look great
  8. The test for Arsenal is if they can repeat last year with added Champions League football and without the momentum of being a bit of a surprise package. I guess they just didn't want Lavia that badly. EDIT: This all has real transfer deadline days of the mid-2000s vibes. Caicedo should do like Peter Odemwingie and just drive to the training ground of the club he really wants to sign for.
  9. I'm surprised to see Liverpool bid so much but also not? They pay out when they really want to and signing players when they didnt seem to be in for them is not unusual for them. Transfers seem like theyre very complicated, have tonnes of moving parts, and vary on a case by case basis. I'd not put much stock in any managers pronouncements about transfers either. They're just going to say whats useful at the time. You will all be glad to know I have heard of this guy though.
  10. TMZ are saying that Johnny Hardwick, the voice of Dale Gribble in King of the Hill, has died.
  11. It is! For those who do not know: Leo Varadkar Ireland's Prime Minister for those who do not know was in Belfast today and took in a tour of Windsor Park, home of Linfield whose fanbase are historically loyalist. A wholly unexpected photo op Edit: Linfield have not acknowledged his visit on their social media!
  12. So he can use real photos when he wants to!
  13. Those creepy AI generated images are really awful arent they? Just use a photo of the real guy in his current club kit.
  14. I didn't have Sky as a kid so that would have passed me by. Although I have a vague memory of my cousins (who did have satellite TV) talking about Pee Wee Herman. They might have even shown me part of Pee Wee's Big Adventure. It was so long ago I barely remember it.
  15. I'm not sure if Pee-Wee Herman really crossed over to this side of the Atlantic really? He was an influential performer though that's pretty clear by the number of comedians I like who are posting about him right now
  16. I have seen Barbie. That was tremendous fun.
  17. Paul Ince was a real let down tbf
  18. I would say regarding the world cup that I'm sure players may have gone begrudgingly but they go because they want to play for their countries and know they only have a limited number of world cups they can participate in. I do see some ambiguity and tension there and it would have taken an incredibly principled player to say no to the call up and probably torpedo their international career to an extent. Don't get me wrong, I would've loved to see it. But I can imagine the fall out being something else. I have a PR background. I know that not every public pronouncement by a brand is done in earnest. I also totally agree that Pride flags and rainbow laces and corporate displays of solidarity are often just optics. I recall a person in a high position at an organisation telling me about the "pressure" the group was under to engage with Pride. But as hollow as it might be for some. I am certain that for others within the organisations it does mean something. Im sure Jordan Henderson isn't a raging homophobe in real life. Im sure he does believe a lot of what he has said in the past. What I'm not sure on is if he fully grasped what that meant in practice. Or if the people advising him understood or cared about that. It wouldnt shock me at all if a wealthy 33 year old professional footballer, even if he has a certain level of understanding on particular social isssues, has a bit of blinkered world view and doesn't quite get the implications of transferring to Saudi Arabia. I feel like Jürgen Klopp is a bit more thrown into an uneasy position. He has to be seen to say goodbye to the club captain. If the entire club as damned if they did and damned if they didn't
  19. Speelling is challanging. The whole thing has put everyone in a shitty situation really. Or highlighted the hollow nature of PR campaigns around inclusivity. Or both.
  20. Their English language Twitter account has some fairly "I am writing in my second language" vibes to it. They seem to do a lot of what looks like AI generated images and some ... that might be AI or are just really overly edited? I don't know what this is for example: It looks like a real photo that's had some bizzare filtering done to it. Everyone is overly smooth. It's almost like a computer game cutscene. tbf I have see social media accounts run by people I know are native English speakers who can't write or proof copy at all. But they're not working for entities able to pay one guy 700k per week.
