  6. I'm a Leeds fan! And I'm fucking delighted right now! It feels like we've already won, there is the final but the way we came back from 2-1 down to win it 3-2 was brilliant. Hard luck to Carlisle, it was even on the balance of the two games but in the end it was two late goals for us which won it. Super Leeds!
  7. Amazing how we lost and I still feel relatively happy. We played shit for pretty much the entire game but Dougie popped up at the end and gives us some hope for the second leg. Come on Leeds!
  8. I'll be cheering on Forest today. They've been about the only team vying for automatic promotion who haven't bitched about the whole Leeds points saga.
  9. Well, for the first time, I've actually finished a season on this version of the game. Not just one season, I've also finished another and started a third! Amazing. Harrogate Town 2007-08 Started here as they're my most local club in the Blue Square North. Immediately established a link with Sheffield Wednesday who provided me with five loan signings: Sean McDonald (central midfield who was brilliant at this level), Jason Bradley (striker who played a few games but never slipped down the pecking order), Luke Potter (centre back), Liam McMenamin (centre back) and Luke Boden (striker who I mostly played out on the left-wing, he did well). I also picked up two loan boys from Leeds, Jonny Lund (became my first-team goalie from the seventh game onwards) and Tomi Ameobi (striker who was eventually one of the nominees for divisional Player of the Season). I also picked up James Knowles and Amjad Iqbal on frees from Farsley Celtic, and I also had a striker - Danny Holland - who scores 20-something-silly goals for us. Our league form wasn't outstanding as we floated around the mid-table for most of the season. What really put us on the map were some great cup runs, getting to the quarter finals of the Setanta Shield and the Semi Finals of the FA Trophy. Towards the end of the season we had a good streak of wins and eventually ended up in 7th, one point off of a Play-Off spot. If only I'd won my final game...still, at the end of the season I was being linked with some Blue Square Premier and League Two jobs, so I decided to put my name in the hat on some of them and ended up plumping for... Stockport County 2008-09 Stockport had been the unlucky team to finish in 23rd in League Two in the previous season so I was given the unenviable task at steering them back to the football league at the first attempt. I picked up two players I had on loan at Harrogate Town - Tomi Ameobi and Liam McMenamin - on free transfers, along with Shaun MacDonald from Swansea and Derek Stillie from Gillingham (also free). On loan I brought in Jordan Robertson from Sheffield United (striker who didn't score many but made a good second man) and Keith Quinn (who I hardly played). We started off terribly, bottom of the table after six games. However after that the season picked up and I went undefeated for twenty games, shooting up the league into a position just below the play-offs. The board were not satisfied as they had expected me to run away with it at the top and, with ten games left, they fired me. My successor took them into the play-offs (where they lost) with only a few games left, so I must not have been too bad. In the cups we were knocked out early in the FA Trophy and I got them to the semis of the Setanta Shield before I was fired. I applied for a lot of jobs at the end of the season and, to my surprise, was offered the job by Serie A outfit Empoli. At the time they were still flirting with relegation so I decided to wait until the end of the season to see if they survived, which they did, before I took the job. Empoli 2009-10 I still, after three seasons, have not spent even £1 on a player, using free transfers and loans to my advantage instead. I snapped up a few who names are far too long to remember on free transfers, and also got some top-class loanees: Luka Modric (from Roma), Godwin Antwi and Kristian Nemeth (both Liverpool), Rey Volpato and Jonathan something (both Inter). We've started alright, grabbing a 1-1 draw at Juventus on the opening day and beating some jobbers to get to the First Round of the Italian cup. It's looking quite good and hopefully I can stick with this job for more than one year!
  10. Rekindled my love for this game starting with the England job. Started well with a 2-0 friendly win against Germany, Bent and Carrick getting the goals. I then went on to get pretty much the same results as McClaren did in the Euro 2008 qualifiers, beating Israel and Russia 3-0 at home, Estonia 2-0, losing 2-1 in Moscow, (a 3-1 friendly win in Austria) and getting a 2-2 draw at home to Croatia in the final game. Fortunately that extra point was enough to take us through on head-to-heads so we're going to Euro 2008! David James then promptly retired after the Croatia game, after being my number one choice and playing every game (excluding the Russia loss, where he was injured and Carson deputized). So now it's a matter of hoping that Paul Robinson will be good enough, or that Terry and Ferdinand will deal with it before it gets back to him. Attacking wise I've tried quite a few different partnerships: Rooney and Bent, Rooney and Johnson, Rooney and Crouch, Rooney and Ashton. Ashton seems to be the one who I'll stick with for the European championships, scoring three goals in the two games I played him in (the Austria and Czech friendlies). Wales and Northern Ireland also got through to the European championships in a minor miracle, at the expense of Czech Republic and Spain respectively. My draw for Euro 2008 group C is: England, France, Switzerland and Northern Ireland. Not a bad draw, but France will obviously be tough, Switzerland will have the home advantage and Northern Ireland will be on the look for a big upset. Wales got Austria, Germany and Holland. Yeah, they're fucked. And my World Cup qualifying draw (if I survive the Euro championships with my job intact!) is Greece, Belgium, Malta, Kazakhstan and Slovakia. Looks a surprisingly good draw, with only Greece looking like they could cause a problem.
  11. Just started a new season with Tottenham and had the following results in my first five games: 3-2 home win against Newcastle 0-3 away loss against Chelsea 6-3 home win against Aston Villa 2-4 away loss against Wigan 5-3 home win against Liverpool Which gives a grand total of 16 goals scored and 15 goals conceded in five games.

  14. Felt for Tottenham today, neither team deserved to win in that match and losing in the last touch was very unfortunate. Good starts for Newcastle, Blackburn and Everton, all of whom should occupy UEFA places at the end. Derby did well to draw with Portsmouth and I was very impressed with Man City's win against West Ham, looks like they've made some very good signings.
  15. 13 to be in the positive actually A huge cheer went up at half time when they announced the score as 'Tranmere 1-0 Leeds'
  16. Good start for us (Leeds) today, winning 2-1 at Tranmere. Now we just need 12 more points before we start getting into the positives!
  17. Made this quickly so I thought I'd throw my name into the hat.

  22. Pitch invasion at Leeds is not helping our cause at all. Not only are we gonna be playing in League One next year, we'll probably be slapped with a points fine aswell for this.
