Robbie Coltrane Has Died

Gutted, what an absolute presence of an actor. Hagrid to modern generations, but good Lord the absolute range and skill as an actor. There's not many who have the screen command of Robbie Coltrane.

In a long list of great episodes, I think I'd say my favourite Blackadder episode is the one with him as Doctor Johnson and the dictionary, he was also great as the ghost in Blackadders Christmas Carol. Though of course he did so many great things it'd be easy to overlook some highlights. What a shit week for great actors.

I enjoyed his comedic roles in The Comic Strip Presents and Blackadder. He was part of a small group of British actors in the 1980s who could always be relied upon for a memorable cameo role.

Valentin Zukovsky may be my favourite ever Bond ally, and I fondly remember his cameo as a Moon brother in Frasier. Hell of an actor.

He's been in most thing's I have enjoyed since growing up. His role's are many and very different. Yet always had a presence about him while on screen and sometimes when you watched him in interviews you could see the warmth behind him. Often enjoyed his cameo appearances in the 80s, Goldeneye, Cracker and Harry Potter. Fondly will remember him for Nun's On The Run.

This has hit me harder than I thought. These words he said in the Harry Potter Reunion earlier hit hard now. One of my favourite actors he had such a commanding presence

Currently doing a watch through of The Comic Strip presents... and, while he's had some odd/outdated roles, I've very much enjoyed his involvement in the Five Go Mad episodes I've seen so far.

Such a dumb thing, but I realised this morning that whenever I hear the word sausage I think of him in Blackadder where he plays the inventor of the dictionary.

That whole episode was enhanced by the verbal delivery of Coltrane, Atkinson, Robinson and Laurie. It's a great example of how to make a reasonably good script even better.
