I've heard rumours that Vinnie Paul died as well, but those have been flying since this news was reported. I'm almost sure he isn't dead, though.

What I heard from a radio station that did an interview with one of the fans that was there said that after he shot Dimebag a few times, the gunman put Vinnie Paul in a headlock and held him hostage. After that happened, he shot the security guard. Then he raised the gun up to shoot Vinnie Paul as the police officer rushed in and shot the gunman. So Vinnie Paul isn't dead (from what I hear), but god damn he probably feels like it. Watching your fucking brother getting shot point blank right in the fuckin head five times has to suck.

What sucks even more is that Fox news has been airing the footage of what happened, from a fancam most likely. Who the fuck wants to see Dimebag getting five bullets put in him? Fuck Fox.

I think showing the Discovery crash is a bit more understandable than this. That was an accident. This was a VERY brutal murder. Two very different things.

I've heaard that Darryll survived the shooting, but bled to death an hour later, apparently as he was hsot in the stomach, not the head. I've also heard theat BobZilla was shot, but survived, and that one of the guys from the support act, the Haunted, tried to shield Dimebag and got shot himself. Prolly just rumours, but I'd like to get confirmation anyway.

Darrell was shot point blank in the head.

No one else from Damage Plan was hurt, but Vinne Paul was shot at.

The shooter, Nathan Gale, took a DP crew member (not Vinnie) hostage and had him in a headlock when the Officer Niggemeyer shot Gale in the head with his shotgun.

Reports say that Darrell died instantly as a fan in the audience tried doing CPR which he didn't respond to.

I'll admit to never have heard of Dimebag Darrell. I'm not a fan of that kind of music, but I do feel bad for everyone who wittnessed it (can't have been good for the fans or the band or anyone). It's a shame when anyone dies like that and it's a shame when anyone does something like that.

Me and a couple of guys have organised a Dimebag tribute night soon. The local area is very rock orientated, with most people into all sorts of Rock, including and especially metal. And since the area is well known for its musicians, we've organised a Dimebag Darrell night. Its the only and best way to show how much we'll miss the guy.

Platinum-selling pop-rock singer/songwriter Michelle Branch has posted the following message regarding the death of DAMAGEPLAN/ex-PANTERA guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott:

"I am so sad to hear about Dimebag being shot and killed while doing something he loves. I was lucky to meet him (photo) and he was one of the sweetest guys. It's hard to believe that a lot of clubs don't offer metal detectors (because they can't afford them) or proper security. Most of the security you see at shows are just normal guys who either volunteer or simply wear a t-shirt that says security. Something needs to change.

"Any ideas? Petitions? Letters to your local clubs?

"If musicians start feeling unsafe doing what they love, we'll have a big problem."
