I'm loving the new Chili's song, it has to be said, the video is a great little semi-parody too. Anyone else heard it? Opinions?

Radio 1 was saying it was 'nothing new from what the Chili's have produced before', but to be honest I can't find a song in my catalogue that I can compare it too, but it doesn't feel brand new, feels more like a mix of a few old songs, only better

I'm definitely excited for Stadium Arcadium. This song isn't fantastic, but it's good enough to make me really thrilled for the album.

I'm with damshow, I like the song just enough to get me ready for their album. Its not by any means one of their best but it is a very catchy song and its done its job already of getting me pumped for the new cd.

I saw the video when it aired on Channel 4 the other night. The video was brilliant, I could stop laughing at The Flea in the goth get up.

But the song was surprisingly good too, yeah. I can't remember who posted the topic but they thought the song was a let down, like some of By The Way, but I thought it was pretty good. The name is far too similar to Californication for me though, I always end up saying Dani Californication before I realise >_<

Well, Dani California is the name of the "teenage girl with a baby inside" mentioned on Californication and she also makes some appearances on By The Way if I recall. I can't find the word to describe what she is, but she's a reoccuring character in their music.

The story goes that Kiedis hadn't realised that he's been talking about the same girl all along, basically 'Dani California' is a single girl made up of all the girls he's ever met, and in this song she meets her demise, which anyone with a semblance of logic for his song writing won't believe for a second.

Going against the grain, the song is a big "meh". Nothing overly stood out to me about it, but maybe I have to listen to it some more.

As it stands, its poor compared to old Chilli singles.

Well, some songs have nothing to do with Dani... but some do. I think Stadium Arcadium is supposed to be a concept album, but who knows.

Only just re-read this...but aren't you basically agreeing with Radio 1 with your statement? (I guess depending on whether you read Radio 1 as meaning a specific song, or RHCP's work in general)

I guess you can't expect RHCP to pull a rabbit out of thier arses and do something completely different, but yeah, it is nothing particularly different really, and nothing that they haven't done better than in the past.

What I meant was that it doesn't sound like any particular one of the old Chili's songs, but instead a mix of them all, it's not fresh persay, but it sounds very different.

I can't get this song out of my head recently, it's so catchy and whilst the video didn't feel like a real Peppers Video when I first saw it I can't help but like it. The parodies especially Kurt and Prince are great.

I suppose I'm way in the minority when I say this is the best song the Chili Peppers have done since bloodsugarsexmagik. I have grown increasingly tired of the band, I think Californication is the most overrated and overplayed album of the last ten years and I thought By the Way was downright awful. But Dani California is absolutely amazing. I wasn't expecting much, but I was told last week that we were premiering the song during my show, so I was at least intrigued to give it a listen. I was absolutely floored. I was glad that I talked going into the song, rather than out of it because I was damn near speechless after listening to it. I know it sounds overdramatic, but I'm dead serious. Awesome fucking song.

I too think that Dani California is an amazing song and hope Stadium Arcadium has 27 more belters like that on their album. I doubt it though. Personally I think RHCP are going to regret releasing so much material at once instead of going for their trilogy over the space of two years option as Guns and Roses proved that there is a such thing as having too much music.

This is definitely one song here they can be very proud of though. I notice how the music video (being the first single out of the new album) is way less epic and flashy than Californication's computer game or By The Way's crazy taxi guy and as a result - it adds instead of takes away from the song.

It'll be interesting to see how good the new album is and if it's better than the great "By The Way" album.

Yeah, but GnR released Use Your Illusion as two separate albums, and had to deal with Axl's insanity. Despite both of those things UYI was a massive success. The Chili Peppers are releasing a standard double album, which generally always proves to be a solid success for already established bands. Look at Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, tons of songs on that album, but it solidified the Smashing Pumpkins as one of the greatest bands of all time.

I had my doubts after first listening to Dani California, but, after listening to it a couple more times I've grown to love the song and I am now quietly excited about the release of Stadium Arcadium.

It's grown on me slightly. But I till don't dig it all that much. Haven't seen the video though.
