But he didn't prevent the goal being scored, because it happened. Therefore it was a foul worthy of a yellow card, but the goal scoring opportunity was there, and was taken by Guily.

There is no "opportunity to one player". It's just the goal scoring opportunity if the attacking team, so Lehmann prevented nothing.

As would I, and plenty have said that the referee would have been well within his rights to have sent Lehmann off AND awarded the goal. It's very easy for these 'ex-referees' to earn themselves some brownie points by siding with the whingers.

Anywhere else on the pitch he lets play go on and then goes back to book the player that committed the foul, even if letting play go on means the team go onto score. The "it ruined the game argument" doesn't stick, because then that could be applied to every sending off ever.

Like I said, he could have sent Lehmann off AND awared the goal - but he didn't, so you got off lightly.
