I like Hargreaves. It's great being the only Hargreaves fan alive. :shifty:

Question is, when you're watching England play down the pub and Hargreaves is brought on after 60 minutes and the pub descends into a chorus of booing and swear words, do you THEN make your Hargreaves love known? :P

Done it before, yeah. :P

Got loads of stick for it though, haha.

Hargreaves is a good player for Bayern. He just doesn't belong in England when there are roughly 7 midfielders who could do a better job than him.

But Hargeaves can cover anywhere defensively, hence his usefulness. He's a decent squad player, who can cover a lot of positions.

Well, isn't he a defensive midfielder first and foremost? When they'd rather play Carragher out of position then play Hargreaves in that position, it seems a bit weird.

And though he may cover a lot of defensive positions, we already have enough cover for pretty much all of them, and could have put in a more specific, better defender in place of him..or another striker.

Just because he says he can play there, doesn't mean he can effectively.

You could argue that Gerrard could play at right-back, but there would be people better equipped to do so. That said I see Hargreaves becoming a cult hero for shitness, like Crouch before he scored for Liverpool.

How many games has he started in his natural position?

0?

It's like bringing Rooney on at left back every game for 20 minutes, and judging him on that.

But thats the point.....he isn't very good anywhere else, and Sven won't play him in his natural position...so why bother with him?

And defensive midfielder moving forward into midfield and back into defense isn't as big a step as Rooney at left-back, Dan.

The wosrt thing to happen in that game though was for Crouch to score. He doesn't belong in an England shirt and is only there cos of his lanky frame. The fact he scored will make Eriksson sure that he made the right choice in putting him in the squad, which WASN'T the right choice.
