I'm really looking forward to this, as I consider Devil's Rejects one of the best horror movies of the last decade.

Now, I might as well ask here, instead of making another topic: I've only seen the original Halloween, I thought it was superb. I heard that parts 2-8 are not that great, but of 2-8, which should I watch/which are the best?

So, I decided to bump this topic because it leaked on the internet, and I just finished watching it. I liked it, but I had only one problem with it, and that was how much Zombie changed his character. But I knew I was going to have that problem before I watched it, so I wasn't expecting much. But it was at least a decent horror flick. Nothing scary, but neither was The Devil's Rejects.

Almost everyone I've talked to about it didn't like it, I thought it was alright, nothing super-great but I didn't really care about the original either.

Saw it at the midnight showing last night/today and I thought it was really good. Probably not as good as the original (I wasn't expecting it to be) but I enjoyed the new version with the peak into his past and what not.

I don't know why everyone is saying it's like the "torture/porn" horror movies, cause it's not. The only reason I can even see them saying that is because you see a bunch of tits but you always did in slasher flicks. One reason could be that they saw a different version of the film. I went to see it with a friend of mine and he said he watched a leaked version of the film online and said the movie we watched was very different from the version online.

Actually, the theatrical version is gorier then the leaked workprint. Certain kills that are seen in the theatrical version occur off screen in the workprint. The endings are quite different too.

The ONLY reason I can understand someone disliking this film is the sudden backlash against remakes. This movie was a flat-out perfect horror film. Zombie breathed new life into a stale character and created a flawless movie for the genre. It's not Schindler's List or anything, but for horror, I cannot find a single complaint. The movie had blood, boobs and balls (figuratively), what the fuck more do people need from horror? Kudos to Zombie for making the movie his own and I guaran-fucking-tee this movie will be looked back on as a cult classic.

Probably.

People should realize that it is a reimagining of Haloween, and not the usual crap that's been spawned since Haloween II came out.

I do have one question....

Does it at least have John Carpenter's original theme in it? I mean, it's hard to see Michael without that theme....

The theme is intact.

And a re-imagining is exactly what this is. I think people are pissed because Zombie's version has HUGE balls.

Seriously, do not click the spoiler tag unless you want the movie totally spoiled:

It took huge fucking balls to remake a movie we assumed would become a franchise and then fucking kill Loomis and have Michael essentially commit suicide. I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but this version stands alone as what the original Halloween SHOULD have been. It's not a franchise that just gives people an excuse to watch Michael kill random teenagers in various horrific ways, there's not stupid religious cults giving him superpowers, there aren't nieces, there's no H20 and there's especially no goddamn Busta Rhymes. It's Michael Myers being a disturbed motherfucker who kills people in the way of what he wants. Beginning, middle, end. No sequel, no bullshit, no milking a franchise until its entire purpose is to sell plush dolls at Spencer's Gifts around Halloween Season.

Zombie is the new Master of Horror and someday, maybe he'll get some fucking appreciation for it.
