Without a Paddle - 7/10

Some movies I like the first time I see them, only to watch them again later on and realize how stupid they really were. I hope this isn't one such movie because this movie kept me entertained for the entire hour and a half, which is not something I can say about a lot of movies. Sure the story may not be the best, but I was entertained and that's all that matters to me.

Alien Resurrection - 6.5/10 or (**1/2) First of all, let me say that I've never seen an Alien film so if my rating seems high, that's probably why. Either way, the movie is pretty good. While the killing sequences are not as good as I would've thought, the cast and story are good. Ron Perlman owns the rest of the cast (solely on coolness) and Winona Ryder is a nice inclusion. Overall, pretty decent.

Ginger Snaps - 8/10 or (***) For a fiolm that was released DTV in the US, this is very good. Both Emily Perkins and Katharine Isabelle are very good in this and the story is pretty original and intriguing. This film also has convinced me that we should import our horror more. In the past 5 years, a LOT of crappy horror films (with a couple of exceptions) were made in America while Canada has this (and its sequel, which I'll watch soon) and England has 28 Days Later.

Equilibrium - 8/10 or (***) With a solid cast (maybe excluding Diggs), great direction, effects (for a film with a budget of only $20 million), and story, Equilibrium proves it is not a Matrix copycat. Too bad the people never truly knew that.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back - 8/10 or (***) For about the eighth or ninth time. It's funny, has a lot of good backtracks to past Kevin Smith films, and well, if nothing else, it has Shannon Elizabeth, Eliza Dushku, AND Ali Larter. That's like most adolescents' license to print money.

Die Hard With A Vengeance - 8/10 or (***) High-quality action. I WILL watch a Die Hard 4 now if Fox gets off their bum and gets it greenlighted.

School of Rock 7/10

A decent film, but for a comedy isn't that funny. Perfectly watchable, but nothing special. Jack Black is pretty good in this though.

Reservoir Dogs - 9.5/10

It's on SpikeTV AS WE SPEAK so if you haven't seen it (Like me :/ ) you can go watch it. I liked the film a whole lot, and EDIT: The film no longer confuses me now that JHS has been so nice enough to explain it the end to me so the rating goes up

The Whole Nine Yards - 4/10

Not even the beautiful Amanda Peet could save this one. Really not that interesting and not that funny either. The Whole Ten Yards is definitely not on my "movies to watch" list after seeing the original.

Wicker Park - *1/2

The trailer made this out to be a psychological thriller but it wasn't. The plot was something that was believable but it just seemed to drag on after the first 30 minutes for me, as I quickly knew what was happening and it just seemed to drag on from then on. None of the performances were bad. Matthew Lillard really was a supporting actor as he outshined everyone else and got a few chuckles here and there. This just wasn't a movie I had any fun with and I know some will love it, but I personally wish I would've saved the $5.50 for Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle.

Bad Boys II- ***

I haven't seen the first for quite awhile but looking at this film as a standalone it did a very good job at being entertaining and full of action. I'm sort of in the middle about how the conflict between Lowry (Smith) and Burnett (Lawrence) played out but I guess it really wasn't extremely bad. Overall, this is a fun movie and worth a rent. It even includes a quite funny scene with Lawrence and X.

The Girl Next Door- ***1/2

I've heard much about this movie and after my family got it from Net Flix I played it. I knew Elisha Cuthbert was hot so this movie already had a ** rating going in but the movie surprised me with how good it really was. One thing I liked is Matthew (Emile Hirsch) didn't get everything he wanted. The trio had some shining moments that made me think of moments I've had with my two best friends and even some of the actions were spot on to stuff that I've been apart of with the two. I guess I can sympathize with this movie and it made me feel more at home. It is the best of the three I saw tonight and well worth a rental.

The Laws of Attraction

7.5/10

-Brosnan + Moore = Fun.

I enjoyed this movie. It was funny, and witty and kept me interested. I like Brosnan as an actor in general, but when he plays funny, he geniunely comes off as funny. Kudos.

That rockstar guy looked familiar...where the hell's he from?

EDIT: It's Michael Sheen, who is also in one of my personal faves, Underworld.

Big Fish 7.5/10

Was in store for an 8/10, but it gets poorer/looses it's way a bit the last half hour or so. Still, for the most part a thoroughly entertaining film that I reccomend most film fans see.

The Girl Next Door - 9/10 - One of the best movies this year, it's funny and entertaining and the unrated version is awesome.

602234h.jpg

50 First Dates - 6/10 - Not Adam Sandler's best movie but it has it's moments.

BVD036515.jpg

Badder Santa- 8/10 - A very funny movie.

*** Minor Spoilers *** The Last Casino - 7/10 - I was flipping through the channels and stopped on this movie on the Movie Network. It's a Canadian movie starring Katharine Isabelle from Ginger Snaps. It's about a team of 3 college students who with there Math Teacher learn to count cards and team together to win thousands at blackjack. It was pretty good and the fact Katharine Isabelle is hot only makes the movie better :D

Matrix Reloaded

7/10

They mention that the Oracle isn't human and my mum, who happens to be walking through the room, asks "What? Why isn't she human? What is she then?". I am forced to remind her that she hasn't even seen the first film, so there's no chance in hell of her understanding anything when randomly dropping in halfway through the second film...

But then my mum has difficulty understanding a lot of things. :shifty:
