They advise that for the best use of the new patch you start a new game. I could update, but it wouldn't really make that much difference to my game at the moment.

There are a couple of things that change immediately that make a difference - young players in 8.0.1 tend to peak incredibly early, around the age of 21-22, and then their stats are constant for ten years. At the other end of the scale, older players experience a ridiculous and abrupt drop in physical stats once they reach 31-32, rendering most of them completely useless. Combined with the strange reputation thing that causes AI managers to stick with older players regardless of their stats means you get some very strange team selections at club and international level.

Got it. Cheers. Started new game with Portsmouth. Lost 3-2 at home to Villa and won 3-0 away to Everton, with Utaka scoring a 45 yard chip! Signed Banega on loan, Edu, and Aaritalo. No money left but mite try and get a central defender on loan as backup for Distin and Campbell.

Just lost in the League Cup to Fullham, at home. Was playing direct and attacking, with a pass rate in the 70s and possession in the mid-50s, yet I only had one shot, and that wasn't even on target. Fullham, on the other hand, had like 12 shots and won 1-0.

I don't think I've ever swore so much in such a short space of time. And I take back what I said before about Forssell. What a useless cunt.

I just lost 8-1 to Arsenal, which was interesting.

Still, doing respectfully. I'm 10th after 16 games as Birmingham, which isn't bad at all considering I'm only expected to finish in a respectable league position in four years. The fixture list people were friendly and gave me Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd in a row as well

Can't wait until the summer now, considering that my two best centre backs are on loan and so is my best midfielder. I can buy him for 7.5m, but I dunno if I'm even gonna have that kinda money to spurge on one player.

Millwall have been taken over. Plenty of money so I've left Bolton in the Premiership to take the job up. Should be fun.

I dunno if this is a bug or something I've never noticed before but Asamoah Gyan just got injured and his condition dropped to 61%, even after treatment, but as the match wore on, his condition went up point by point, eventually getting to 75% by half time, like he was running the injury off.

This is so frustrating, I've never been a team as bad as Birmingham for any sustained period. My players are performing much worse than they should be. Because they're playing so shite, no tactical changes I make do anything at all... which is realistic and I wouldn't be that bothered, but everybody else who plays the game seems to be able to take a team like Birmingham to the title within two seasons

Still, I'll soldier through it gradually. I need 15 points from 18 games to reach that illustrious 40 point mark and it sounds easy but it'll probably be a cunt of a challenge the way I'm playing at the moment. And then the fun really begins.
