CANADIAN MUSIC ROCKS!

This thread is being made by me to help other enjoy music made by Canadians and enjoyed by Canadians, and is also here to help me get into more Canadian bands and acts. I am just going to put up one video here for you guys to enjoy, to inspire you guys to find more awesome Canadian music.

If you think the music sucks, then your not Canadian.

And if you are Canadian and you think it sucks, THEN GET OUT!

Non-Canadians are still welcome to discuss how bad-ass our music is.

I don't feel like looking up links (although most of this stuff can be found on Youtube), but to throw my usual batch of names out there - Triumph, 54-40, Jeff Healey Band, Paul Anka's 'Rock Swings' album, Max Webster, April Wine, Barenaked Ladies, Coney Hatch, Blue Rodeo, Colin James, Great Big Sea, Chilliwack, Honeymoon Suite, The Pursuit Of Happiness, Stompin Tom Connors, Sloan, David Wilcox, and Tom Cochrane.

Plus all the great but globally-known stuff like Rush and the Guess Who.

And everything that's already been said.

And the Arrogant Worms.

Within their respective genres, the preceeding names kick all kinds of ass.

As far as the traditional idea of Canadian music goes... I can't really say that I like any of it... the Hip, Rush, etc. Bryan Adams, if you take his albums, pull the good songs out and make one album, is worth a listen, and provides some good stuff... but other than that... just, meh.

I saw Bachman in concert a couple of years ago.

Great storyteller, although from what I've read, a lot of the stories probably aren't true (particularly the one about the piano in Takin' Care of Business)

What really boggles my mind is how bands like The Hip and Sloan are only popular really in the confines of Canada whereas a band like Nickelback have somehow acheived worldwide popularity. It's too bad the world hardly realizes that Canada has better music these days than Nickelback and Avril (as evidenced by Reily's post) :(.

I don't care what you kids say nowadays, musical racism is cool.

And theoretically you Brits could have the same complaint. I mean with all your bands around the one who that has been the most popular elsewhere in the world in the past 10 years is the bloody Spice Girls.

(Geddy's hair in this video could damage your health).

Rush are pretty much the only good musical thing Canada ever did. And then they cancelled it all out with Nickelback.

Thank God someone brought up Rush, I was beginning to get worried for a moment. They do indeed rock. In fact, I saw them the other week - a fantastic live act.
