Animes which are spawned off games are a mixed bunch, in my experience.

Some like Final Fantasy Unlimited and the Disgaea anime have been pretty damn poor. Devil May Cry looks like it might be okayish production-wise but then the game itself is so mind-numbingly tedious so it hasn't really got anything to work with.

Then there are the ones like Pokemon and the like, that are purely merchandise machines and so not really rateable in the same way.

With all of that said, half of the romance/harem/etc. anime these days are based on H-games (although, obviously, with all porn removed). There are numerous clues as to whether an anime is an H-spawn, which I won't go into for the moment. Some of them are quite good. Some of them are quite poor (Sola is the most recent one which comes to mind). Some are such parodies of themselves that they become quite amusing to watch (like the Tokimeki Memorial anime). The sad thing is that they tend to become insanely popular...like Kanon. Yes, Kanon: the series that apparently wasn't just good enough to make once, they had to REMAKE it (that's reproduce exactly the same storyline) in 2006, and in the process usurp all of the production crew that were working on The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, forcing the Haruhi series cut back to only 14 episodes. Yes, there are MANY reasons why I hate Kanon.

Uh...where was I? Oh yeah, anime based on games can be dodgy things. I wouldn't hold out a great deal of hope for Xeonsaga.

If you haven't played the Xenosaga games, you should. Just be aware that the first game's voice cast includes Sherry Lynn doing her standard little girl voice (aka Sasami in the Tenchi Muyo dubs) as MOMO, who has a magical girl gimmick. Thankfully, they got rid of Sherry Lynn and the magical girl gimmick after the first game. (MOMO is an archer instead of using wands in II and III). And the ending of III is really fucked up, but in a good way. Xenosaga is actually my favorite RPG series, and I'm still disappointed that it only lasted 3 games instead of the originally planned 6. The voice work in all 3 games is awesome (aside from MOMO in episode I - and fuck Sephiroth; Albedo is 10x more awesome than that overrated dude, because Crispin Freeman brings the awesome as Albedo) and the first game has an awesome soundtrack (I own the 2 cd soundtrack).

Albedo is probably one of the creepiest villains I can think of, but this discussion is best reserved for the Coin Op Arcade. The anime apparently follows (and rewrites a little) of the first game, from what I've found on wikipedia. 12 episodes.

If you haven't played the Xenosaga games, you should.

Not going to happen until they release the first game here in the UK. Which, from the looks of things, will probably never happen. To hell with just playing the second one. <_>

And COME ON, Guame NEEDED to die at some point. You weren't expecting that to happen?

Bah I just go with the flow.

Episode 15

Y'know I've been scarred by the likes of DBZ when I was 10. I expected that battle to take like 6 episodes. Spiral King was a hero, he attacked the Lagann ... WITH HIS FISTS. Seems I have a summary episode coming up next, interesting. Really want to see what happens, since the main saga sort of thing appears done, yet there's more episodes so I'm anxiously awaiting what happens next :D

And Guame was fucking badass. From the first time I saw him, Cytomander and Adiane all standing before the Spiral King I thought, he is fucking cool and doesn't deserve to die. Glad he was the last one to go out of the four (including Tymilph) because he truly was the most badass of them all. Long live Guame.

EDIT: So WMP doesn't want to play .mkv files, VLC Player keeps screwing me over. I used this 'Windows Media Classic' or whatever, and it was working but it was horribly out of sync so... :(

Spoilers for episode 8

I thought the lady would be the one to die, I REALLY did, but Kamina? Fucking badass of all Kamina? Fuck me that did me in. Due to him only have 8 (extremely fucking awesome) episodes to be in, I didnt endear to him as much as I did for say LeLouch and his death didn't hit me as hard as...Wesley's Death in Angel, but still....holy fuck. Its gonna take me a bit to bring myself to watch the next episode.

Episode 21... ho-ho-holy shit. While not the best episode yet, on a whole, due to the nature of the episode--

It flashes back to what Yoko's been doing ever since the events post-Episode 15

-- the ending 5, maybe 10 minutes of the episode? I have never seen them pack so many epic fucking events together like that. That was INCREDIBLE.

You guys have a lot of catching up to do, this series just keeps getting better and better.
