Favourite song from a musical?

My favourite Jesus Christ Superstar song is Gethsemane without a shadow of doubt.

It's possibly my favourite though I also like Bui Doi from Miss Saigon, Do You Hear The People Sing and Stars from Les Miserables, Technicolor Dreamcoat obv and Tell Me Its Not True from Blood Brothers.

But my favourite ones of all are:

I Get a Kick Out of You -- Reno Sweeney

Bon Voyage (There's No Cure Like Travel) --Sailor, Girl and Ship's Crew and Company

All Through the Night (in Act II in 1987 revival) -- Billy Crocker, Hope Harcourt and Men

Sailor's Shanty -- Quartet

You're the Top -- Reno Sweeney and Billy Crocker

It's DeLovely (first in 1962 revival) -- Billy Crocker and Hope Harcourt

Anything Goes -- Reno Sweeney and Company

Public Enemy Number One -- Captain, Purser, Company

Blow, Gabriel, Blow -- Reno Sweeney and Company

Goodbye, Little Dream, Goodbye (not in 1934) -- Hope Harcourt

Be Like the Bluebird -- Moonface Martin

All Through the Night (Reprise) --Billy Crocker, Hope Harcourt and Men

Buddie, Beware (1987 revival) -- Erma and Sailors

I Get a Kick Out of You (Reprise) (finale for 1987) -- Company

The Gypsy in Me -- Lord Evelyn Oakleigh (sung by Hope in 1934)

Some of you may recognise this as the majority of the songs from Anything Goes, which is by miles my favourite musical, mainly due to it being the only one I've ever taken part in. Despite that, the songs are absolutely fabulous. Proper jazzy ones.

You Can't Stop The Beat from Hairspray

Angry Inch & Wicked Little Town from Hedwig and the Angry Inch

No Place Like London from Sweeney Todd

Seasons of Love from Rent

I have some others, but those are my main favorites.

Since it sort of counts; Walk Through The Fire and Under Your Spell from the BtVS episode Once More With Feeling.

Yeah, that's about as in-depth as my knowledge of musicals gets, since there weren't really any songs in Sweeney Todd that stuck out as being great outside of the film itself.

I don't know if this is the actual song title, but the "Six inches forward and five inches back" song from Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

PunkRockPete mentioned it, it's "Angry Inch". I like the Type O Negative cover just alittle bit more than the original.

The Origin of Love from Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a favorite of mine. Type O's cover of Angry Inch is prime though.

Most of the songs from Sweeney Todd are great.

High School Hellcats from Cry Baby is still one of my favorites...

and for new stuff, At the Opera Tonight and I Didn't Know I'd Love You So Much, from Repo! the Genetic Opera are amazing.

Then, pretty much the whole Rocky Horror soundtrack. There's a little of everything there, and it's just so much fun.

EDIT: After watching the film, Zydrate Anatomy from Repo! is right up there with my favorites. Kickass song.

Favourite musical songs

... most of the songs from Sweeney Todd. Epiphany, No Place Like London and A Little Priest stand out though.

Mister Cellophane and Cell Block Tango, Chicago

Time Warp (who can hate this song?), RHPS

Let The Monster Rise, Repo! The Genetic Opera

Phantom of the Opera and Music of the Night, Phantom of the Opera

Mean Green Mother From Outer Space, Dentist (I actually liked Steve Martin for once! ... then I remembered Cheaper by the Dozen) and Skid Row, Little Shop of Horrors
