Curb Your Enthusiasm

I bought the Series 1-6 boxset without knowing much about it - and I've watched the first two episodes of S1 and didn't find it that funny. Does it get a lot funnier or is that kinda the trend for the whole serieses?

I've only seen a few episodes, but I really enjoyed them. Oddly enough, I never really like Seinfeld.

I have no idea how indicative the first two episodes are of the rest of the series, but I'd say stick with it.

From what I recall of it, I found the first season pleasant but not actually great. It's season two or season three where I really started loving it.

And yeah, I have never been able to get into Seinfeld but I love Curb.

The first season is definitely not it's best.

It is one of the best shows on television though. You made a good purchase...

It is absolutely hilarious, some of the episodes from the early seasons are just fall out of my chair funny.

Never watched Seinfeld either, started watching Curb because of friends recommendations and am glad I did.

I was aware of the show for years but never watched it.

Watched a couple of episodes because of the Seinfeld reunion and I really wanted to knock Larry the fuck out.

I realise that the lead characters in Seinfeld weren't nice people and had their irritating qualities but people watched, as did I. However with Curb Larry annoys me to the point that I didn't want to watch further than the reunion episodes.

Does he grow on you, or will I probably never get 'it' if I didn't like the show straight away?

The whole show is Larry arguing with everyone. Sometimes you see his point, sometimes you think he's being irrational...that, coupled with multiple arguments/situations colliding, is what makes Larry and the show great.

The last season has Larry acting with the motive of getting his wife back, so there's a bit more of the irrational.

I think watching three in a row or something would make it lose some appeal possibly.

Yeah, I enjoy it as kinda... like passing time kind of viewing. I doubt I could power-watch a series in a day though. I was just wondering whether Season One was just scene-setting and it gets radically different.

I love the show, but yeah, I've found you have to be a certain state of mind to enjoy the episodes, otherwise they'll fall flat or just irritate the shit out of you.

I watched all the episodes over about a month not so long ago. One of my favourite shows ever; I was able to watch 5 or 6 episodes back to back and laugh my ass off at every one.

I don't care much for the first season at all - but it's still very much in "it's the guy who did Seinfeld!" mode. Absolutely adore anything from Series 3 onwards, though.
