EWB's Favorite Singer II: The Voting Thread

Okay! So two years ago I ran EWB's Favorite Singer! You might remember it! Bunch of y'all voted on your favorite singers of all-time and so on. And I want to do a list while everyone else is doing one instead of just waiting until December to run Favorite TV Shows of '10. So we're doing this again.

So! Here are the two guidelines for this list that you should probably keep in mind;

1. While I'm not going to be all hardline about this or go YOUR VOTE DOESN'T COUNT, please do remember that this is EWB's favorite singer, not songwriter. By this I mean that ideally, your criterion for inclusion is based on how much you like their voice. But, of course, opinions and tastes in singers varies, and what you consider "good singing" might not be what the cat posting directly after you considers good singing! Maybe it's about technical skill, maybe it's about being able to project emotion in their lyrics, maybe they technically sing horribly but you fucking love their voice anyway ('sup metalman). Just saying, is all.

2. You cannot vote for Freddie Mercury. What I'm interested in is seeing what happens to the votes for this one if you take out the #1 of the first list (like, if the #2, who came really close to beating him, just walks away with first place or if those votes that went to Mercury propel someone else to the top), so consider Mercury to be in like the EWB Singer Hall of Fame and Awesome. I think I've run enough lists and this is type of one that doing something different is fine. If you vote for Mercury, you're just wasting points so don't do it! Also I'm tired of Skummy vs. Queen.

Voting is as it always is. You've got your ballot from 1 to 10, first place is ten points and tenth place is one point. And please, please, please please please try to keep criticizing each others' lists to a minimum. Save all that judgment for the final list, because what's what these countdowns are for. Rock on, and get nominating!

I must admit, it was difficult to stop myself simply listing the lead singer from my favourite bands. There's a bit of overlapping, because it's kind of similar as picking your favourite band - afterall, part of the reason you like bands is the singing. I think I did a pretty alright job of taking note of the singing without any favouritism.

1 - Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam)

2 - James Hetfield (Metallica)

3 - Phil Anselmo (Pantera/Down)

4 - Brent Hinds (Mastodon)

2. Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam, solo)

-

3. Brent Smith (Shinedown)

-

4. Layne Staley (Alice in Chains)

-

5. Kurt Cobain (Nirvana)

-

6. Gavin Rossdale (Bush, solo etc.)

-

7. James Hetfield (Metallica)

8. Jamie Lenman (Reuben)

Things got a bit thin after Cobain.

EDIT: I too have added tunez. It was tough choosing between Vedder's solo and PJ work, as well as between many of Cornell's ventures.
