Indeed. Laughing-stock awards or not, sportsmen get knighted too early these days. Beckham is probably a better call due to his Olympic work etc but I always think that sportsman should be doing charideee or extra stuff to just sporting achievement.

I love Andy Murray and Mo Farah but I really think anyone in the sporting world really need to have retired before being bestowed with a knighthood.

 

Saying that, Ken Dodd has (absolutely deservedly) been knighted and he's never going to retire.
