There any sort of limits on what albums get picked? Like how old/new of a release?

You can get involved any time, don't have to wait until next time.

No rules as of yet, I don't think, but coming up with something other than a vote may be necessary. Otherwise we'll never do anything 'different'.

I agree that we need some other way of choosing records in the future. It was perfect for the first time, but I think it would be good if we just let a different person choose each week to add some variety.

Yeah, I was thinking either a 'rota', or something like working our way through a metacritic list, or something.

I'd love to get an album in here, but I doubt it would ever be chosen as voluntary so I would like a way that I would be able to choose at least once.

So, is it like an album a week? 'Cause if so, seems to short for me, as I think some people might be too busy. Maybe an album a fortnight?

Personally I think one a week is fair but this one was really easy to access so I might not feel the same once something obscure pops up.

So, since metalman hasn't posted in quite a while, I decided (with the permission of GoGo) to take control of this thing until metalman returns. Let's hope it's okay with him.

Anyways, a few more guidelines that might be useful and I think we agreed upon.

1. I will pick a random member of the music club for the first album to choose and then we'll just take turns.

2. The maximum discussion time before picking a new album will be 2 weeks. If we are done earlier, we can move on quicker.

3. We should probably stick to more recent releases. However, if you really can't think of anything it's cool to throw an older record in the mix, kinda making it like a "classic week" or something.

4. There are no other limitations, just choose what you want.

As per random number generator, the first person to choose a record is jack95. Let's say you have 48 hours (sounds fair?) to get in here and name the record you want to discuss and then I'll set up a thread for our second meeting.

Hmm.. I'm going to go with Hedonism by the English folk band Bellowhead. It's from 2010, so it's fairly recent. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the songs are mostly fast paced and upbeat, and there's a wide range of musical influences in it. The album's available on Spotify, and I think on YouTube if you do a little digging.
