2012 NFL Season

Okay, fuck that. Belichick cheats for years and gets a fine and loses a first round pick. Peyton employs someone who runs a bounty program and gets suspended for a year.

Peytons suspension is probably more fit knowing about it and doing nothing to stop it. He indirectly supported the bounty in the face of the leagues emphasis on playersafety. The league would've looked bad by gong easy on him

And Bill Belichick planned and organized spying on other teams. How is what Payton did worse than that?

And Meacon, that is what you get for forsaking the godchild!

He oversaw a coach that was literally giving his players money to try and end the careers of fellow players.

All the Pats did was videotape some signals. It wasn't like they stole playbooks, or bugged phones.

What the Saints and Gregg Williams did was way worse. And the NFL had to do something to make sure it never happens again.

This from the James Harrison fan.

Did you not hear pretty much every ex player, now analyst come out and say "Yeah, we had something like that going on when we were playing"

I never once heard any player say that the defensive coordinator, head coach, or GM knew about it and condoned it.

And I never once heard any player say that money would exchange hands for injuring another player. Good plays, yes. But injuries, no.

Yep, so much more honorable when players are doing it just because they want to, right?

Translation: He was right so now I have to change the subject and go after a player that has nothing to do with this.

I have not seen a single player that didn't play for Gregg Williams who has admitted that he was on a team where players/coaches handed out bonus money for injuring players on the other team.

So no, this isn't something that happens with every team.

Do we really need or want to discuss the Harrison thing again? I've said it before that I don't think Harrison is intentionally trying to injure players. His hits on Mohammed Massaquoi and Colt McCoy were not worthy of punishment in my opinion. But I've also said that if he is stupid enough to not change his game when he sees that it's hurting his team then he deserves any punishment he gets.

I assume he's addressing me again, I'm not sure why he thinks I'll be reading it.

I thought maybe you wouldn't be so pathetic as to pull the whole "BLAH BLAH I'M NOT LISTENING TO YOU!" card. What are you, five?

I was trying to have a legitimate discussion, but apparently you're not interested in discussing something when you're wrong.

That is why I think it's absolutely stupid that the Browns are contemplating getting Trent Richardson with the fourth pick. I can't justify any running back going that high nowadays. Not when you have guys like Arian Foster leading the league in rushing after not even being drafted.

Not that the running game can't be crucial to a team's success but really, the last time I can remember a team winning the Super Bowl because of their run game was the 2006 Colts when Peyton was awful in the playoffs and the Colts' defense and running game carried him to the Super Bowl.

Not that Cleveland has to worry about that whole playoffs thing anyway.

So yeah I agree that there's really no point in taking a big time running back early in the draft. I'd like to think the Steelers learned that first hand with Rashard Mendenhall in 2008. As good as he can be if used properly, the team's success isn't ever going to be determined by what Rashard Mendenhall does. And looking at some of the guys on the board when Mendenhall was taken, the team could be in much better position if they hadn't taken Mendenhall than if they had.

I just think it's funny how mediocre wide receivers are now getting the mega contracts that mediocre running backs used to get. There's no real value in paying big money to running backs when a workhorse back basically needs to be replaced every 3 or 4 years anyway.
