Yeah, I am still picking away at my list. Listening to some of the stuff I missed during the year and re-listening to a lot of stuff too. There might be a challenger for Helen Money's Arriving Angels as well. And seeing as both Lowerdeck and deli has done it, I might compile a singles and EP list as well.

Yeah, I still listen to metal - not as heavily as I did before, though. Personally, the best metal album for me, this year, has been Redwood Hill's Descender. If you are into the whole post-metal deal, I am sure you would like it. However, Descender also has a hint of black metal which gives it another dimension compared to other stuff that would get lumped in the same category with it.

Honorable mentions also include Kvelertak's Meir, Shining's One One One, Humanfly's Awesome Science and the new Summoning album, Old Mornings Dawn.

You liked Mastodon, right Liam? Then I would give Humanfly a listen, and to some extent, Kvelertak if you don't mind growled vocals.

Yeah, I listened to Kvelertak's album the other day, was very good. Been using a lot of metal for my training runs. Had a bit of a listen to 'Pelagial' by the Ocean today, as well as a bit of Isahn's newest one. Both worth a listen from the bits I checked out.

Mastodon are a band I like, so Humanfly might definitely by worth a look. I've also heard good things about Summoning, iirc. Cheers.

New Biffy definitely takes my album of the year nomination. Arctic monkeys, manic Street preachers and frightened rabbit all had good new material too. Singles wise Bastille, imagine dragons and pearl jam have had a good single or two. Quite liked Get Lucky too even if it was overplayed to fuck. Really liked Been Caught Cheating from the new stereophonics album too. Was Dear Darling by Olly Murs this year, that was a good pop tune.

Was the new Gogol Bordello particularly good? After their first one or two albums I stopped caring about the music they put out -- its all about the live show.

Honestly dude, it's more of the same (and that's not a bad thing in my view). If you're more about the live experience, you'll probably feel the same about this album as their previous albums. I love them and hope to see them (they played here on the night of my sons first birthday party). It's worth checking out if you're a big fan, but it sounds like you could give it a pass.

Yeah, I might give it a once-over before I go to the next show, but they always play such a diverse range of their music. If you haven't seen them yet, I'd urge you to right away. Best party ever! I ended up paying $120 for two tickets to see them because it was New Year's Eve (and I'm used to donations-based shows where you give maybe $5) and even at that price it was so worth it.
