My son is into pop punk music. I find his tastes very interesting. He liked some of Dookie but I think the themes went over his head. He said Blink 182 was funny but he didn't really like it. The second I turned on the Black Parade by MCR he was hooked. I think he likes the theatrics and intensity. His three favorite bands are PUP, Jeff Rosenstock and MCR. I think this is a win.

Black Parade and Decemberunderground are two albums that give a nice nostalgia fix to go back and listen to. Both very solid and still holding up when I listen to now. They were also turning points for the bands (although obviously AFI never hit the heights of MCR) as a bit of a different direction but albums that were consistently good enough to justify the change.

Last night I discovered that the Irish folk song Back Home In Derry by Christy Moore is musically just Gordon Lightfoot's The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

And Gordon Lightfoot didn't really care because folk music is full of people lifting tunes from other songs.
