Video Game Soundtracks

Roster Depth Sicko No. 2

Recommended Posts

I couldn't decide whether to put this in here or the Coin Op Arcade, but decided the Music forum needed some new discussion.

Random shuffling on my iTunes led me to resurfacing The Witcher 3 soundtrack, which I totally forgot I had and is fucking sick. Sometimes I don't want lyrical stuff distracting from the sound and prefer just settling into the ambiance music can generate, which video game soundtracks tend to do fantastically.

We have plenty of gamers on here, help me locate some other awesome soundtracks from video games, be it licensed songs like the Tony Hawk games or music made just for it like The Witcher one is. Who knows, I may even find some knew games to play out of it as well. Hooray for dual-purposes!

When I saw the topic name I was going to come in here and mention Witcher 3, so yeah, I agree with you there.

As for recommendations, Mass Effect 3 is really good as well. Clint Mansell is one of the composers and he has done a lot of good stuff but the whole thing is really good. An End Once and For All is a really, really good track on there.

Since we're posting YouTube stuff, let me mention video game soundtrack cover folks.

Namely FamilyJules and The Megas

I have to skip that 'Masterpiece' track on FIFA17 because it triggers recollections of being a backpacker and it's the exact same bland surf-pop like Jason Mraz that every white lad from the Home Counties with dreadlocks and baggy hippie trousers would listen to fucking nonstop.

Cunts. The lot of them.

Also, who can forget the THPS soundtrack?

Brings back fond memories of playing THPS with my brother and his friends. Blistering hot summer days spent indoors, box fans pointed at us, playing for hours on end.

If we're going with licensed music then all of Saints Row deserves a mention. Especially SR3 with the Adult Swim radio and 106.66 having literally the best possible death metal DJ.
