I skipped the last 3 Assassin's Creeds. Is there an attempt at a modern day plot again or is it just token scenes outside the animus?

Assassins Creed: Origins is incredible and I highly recommend it. It's about 95% in the Animus but there is a little plot set now. It's actually the only AC game I've ever played and I bought it primarily based on the location but it really is a fantastic game.

I had to go eat, and I got very excited when people were talking about Star Fox but it's just a guest spot in that game that they showed last year, right?

Yes, and it's only on Switch, as you'd imagine. If the rumours are to be believed, though, there's a good chance of a Star Fox title being announced tomorrow. It might well be a racing game, however.

Yeah I heard the racing game rumor. It's like the people clamouring for a new Star Fox and the others wanting a new F-Zero got mashed up.

I like that they are trying to go big but this intermission thing or whatever you want to call it is messing with the flow

This seems as though it would be better suited to the post-show segments Youtube does.

Apparently this intermission is so they can change themed rooms for the presentations.

I did really love the presentation of the first chunk. Wish they had smaller games to talk about during this intermission rather than going on about what artists they are.

Feels like they're trying to humanize Sony Phil Spencer but he's awkward as hell.

Well, it's the old trick of showing the smoothest, most choreographed part of the game. Naughty Dog are particularly good at it when it comes to game conferences.
