  1. It was good. I won't argue that. Just not that good.
  2. Dear Science, wasn't that good... Frightened Rabbit should have been higher!
  3. I've had so many games where the Soviets take years to get past Finland.
  4. Interesting how most of your comments say that somethign should be lower or that you havent heard it so its probably shit. How can they all deserve to be lower? Surely to be lower there have to be better albums to take their place! I could name several better ones for you. But I can't be bothered. Just accept that there are.
  5. Yes. I don't even know how to work soulseek. Gave up on that guff ages ago.
  6. Frankie Boyle is like the only known comic that performs in Kilmarnock.
  7. Are you kidding? Wait is all over limewire.
  8. Um they actually played several large venues before Sex on Fire. I've seen them play at the Barrowlands long before Sex On Fire was released for one. EDIT: Noticed "at least in UK" bit so you can forget that. They've been a pretty big band over here for some time though. They headlined Glastonbury before anyone knew of Sex On Fire.
  9. Yeah I know HoI is generally more complex and there is more to do but it doesn't beat the feeling of waiting around half a century for a war in EU3 and that "here we fucking go" feeling that comes with it. Oh and Victoria was a game where I'd generally try and avoid war. I remember in my last game as the United Kingdom I was just happily footering around with the government taking turns between Whigs and Tories and later on Liberal and Conservative. The largest wars I'd have would be when I'd pick off the odd underdeveloped Indian, South-East Asian or African state, much like Britain in real life at the time. To avoid major wars I refused all alliances apart from those with satellite states. Then the newly united Germany and their new friends Austria-Hungary come along and declare war on me and I am fucked.
  10. Well maybe but it's a lot better when it finally does come along in EU. And war is the least interesting part of Crusader Kings.
  11. Knocked out the World Club Cup by some Japanese outfit with me as Bayern Munich and suddenly everyone wants to sack me. Bit of an overreaction perhaps? I did win the Champions League after all.
  12. I hate Friendly Fires because they always play "Paris" in River Island. You've already put that Roommate cover on a list. The best Death Cab cover of the Smiths is "This Charming Man". Oh and Frank Turner does Abba. ahahahahahahaha. Can't wait.
  13. Also Kings of Leon used to be called Kings of Lyon when they had a brief French phase.
  14. It's alright. Probably my least favourite Paradox game though. It's a bit too war driven for my liking. They're making a sequel now as well.
  15. That sounds amazing. I'm glad you had a good time.(and a bit jealous)
  16. Such Great Heights was on Top Gear last week. Somewhat unexpected. EDIT: Oops. Didn't realise this was a double post. Figured someone might have posted in the last 15 minutes echoing my Camera Obscura love. Ah well.
  17. I can't believe I forgot how much I love Camera Obscura. Very much is the answer.
  18. Pesci is correct. As is therockbox.
  19. I've never really understood why some people do these mega-reviews of loads of albums and massive countdowns and the like. I could never have imagined having the dedication to do it. Now I realise it may be down to exams in some part. It's amazing how much more attractive this project seems when the alternative is studying for exams. So to whet your appetites, I shall begin with my top 92 songs of 2008. Some of them might be from 2007 or even 2006. I wouldn't know. Just pretend they are from 2008 if you notice any errors. MY TOP 92 SONGS OF 2008. READ IT FROM THE BOTTOM UP. 1)Young Love – Mystery Jets feat. Laura Marling: I am entirely serious in making this my number one. A brilliantly catchy pop song with sweet lyrics made all the better by the presence of Laura Marling and the Jets' lead singer taking a back seat. Also 2nd Mystery Jets song in the top 10. Don't get a false impression of greatness like I did and buy their album. It is pretty dull. I was hugely disappointed. 2)Cath... - Death Cab For Cutie: Oh god I love this song. Flawless. Acoustic version is brilliant too. 3)Meeting Place – Last Shadow Puppets: I know many here say their album is shit and they are just trying and failing to be Scott Walker. Which is fair enough as their album is less than impressive. This wonderful song is a rare high though. I love it. 4)Electric Feel – MGMT: The first half of MGMT's debut album is utterly fantastic. The second half is fairly shit. This, and all other MGMT songs that feature are from that first half. This song reminds me of going to Barcelona in the summer. Which is nice. 5)Hit the Heartbrakes – Black Kids: A near perfect pop song. 6)Ice – Lights: Cheesy as fuck. I love it. 7)Inní mér syngur vitleysingur – Sigur Ros: Nobody does beauty like Sigur Ros 8)Turn Your Back – Billy Talent: Features Anti-Flag, who are shit. Somehow they still manage to make a great rock song. 9)Two Doors Down – Mystery Jets – Very 80s. Very good. My mum likes it. 10)Moab – Conor Oberst: Another song from his solo album. I would probably have put this in the top 5 actually but I can't be bothered shaking everything up. 11)You Get So Lucky – Adam Green: Faintly exotic. Very summery. There's a bit of a groove there too. Oh and trombones! 12)Cross Your Fingers – Laura Marling: For the week after hearing this song you would rarely find a moment of the day when I wasn't humming it. 13)Alright – The Subways: Charlotte Cooper sounds hot as fuck in this. 14)Her Birthday – Popular Workshop: Awesome jaggy song from an awesome jaggy album. 15)This Is The Sound of Young America: The Poems – Taken from the 2nd best Scottish album of the year. Fuck off Glasvegas! 16)Old Old Fashioned – Frightened Rabbit: Taken from the best Scottish album of the year. Fuck off Glasvegas! 17)Here's Looking At You Kid - The Gaslight Anthem: I think the Gaslight Anthem always shine brightest on their quieter songs. The Navesink banks was my favourite from Sink or Swim and this is my favourite from the 59' Sound. 18)Radio Ladio – Metronomy: Does the spelling words thing like Justice. But better. Like the British LCD Soundsystem. Probably not better though. 19)Wicked People – Mike Hale: Mike Hale seems like a sad man. Acoustic yet catchy. 20)Death To Los Campesinos! - Los Campesinos!: The slow non-album version of this song was a bit meh. The faster this song the better it is in my opinion. 21)Super Honeymoon – Owl City – Sounds a bit like the Postal Service. I love the intro of this. First 30 seconds of this is golden. Best electro intro ever. Rest of the song holds up as well. 22)Fix It – Ryan Adams: Kinda sounds like Neil Young. As everyone may know I do love Ryan Adams very much. This year's album, while still fantastic, doesn't really feature any “killer” tunes. Hence this being his highest placed. Excellent live. 23)Turnaround – The Subways: Charlotte Cooper sounds hot as fuck in this. I would break my boycott on alliterating names for her. I really would. And I wouldn't even do that for Joe Jordan. 24)Leftovers – Johnny Flynn: Fantastic song from what is probably my favourite album of the year. 25)Cobwebs – Ryan Adams: Opened his show with this. Amazing. 26)Hopscotch Willie – Steven Malkmus & The Jicks: I like listening to all of this. Even the instrumental bits. He was in Pavement you know. 27)You Don't Know Me – Ben Folds ft. Regina Spektor: Excellent, catchy tune. I was hooked after my first listen. 28)Wherefore Art Thou Elvis? - The Gaslight Anthem: Excellent tune. Something else live. 29)Ghosts – Laura Marling: Ahhhhh so sweet...Laura Marling doesn't actually look too bad with longer hair you know. Honest. 30)Where Do You Go? - Joe Lean & The Jing Jang Jong: This band have been overrated to fuck. This song is fantastic though. 31)Last Day of Magic – The Kills: I almost went to see them live. Purely on the basis of this song cause all their others are shit. 32)Hippy's Son – Dirty Pretty Things: Shit second album. Except from this great song. Which they gave away for free! Then made people pay for the other pish! Buzzards and Crows was good too I suppose. 33)Your New Twin Sized Bed – Death Cab For Cutie: My dad likes this song. I do too. 34)Night Terror – Laura Marling: She played this live at the Mercury Music Prize and it was stunning. About the only thing worth watching it for. 35)Weekend Wars – MGMT: When I first listened to this I thought it was David Bowie. It is more or less. Hence it being brilliant. 36)Heartbeat – Late of the Pier: Every song I have with Heartbeat(s) in it is amazing. That being the José Gonzalez one and the Robyn one. This is probably the best though. The guitar riff in the chorus is amazing beyond belief. 37)One Week Of Danger – The Virgins: Sounds a bit like Blur. 38)Back of the Van – Ladyhawke: Sounds very 80s I suppose. Like Stevie Nicks. Just not as nasal. 39)That Green Gentleman(Things Have Changed) – Panic At The Disco: Shut up. I like it. 40)Tunnels – Johnny Flynn: First song I heard by him. Still good to listen to. 41)Born Into A Light – Ryan Adams: Brilliant track to begin an album with. Probably why he began the album with it. 42)Even Cowgirls Get The Blues - The Gaslight Anthem: Bluesy song, as hinted by the title. They didn't play it live though. 43)Can You Come For Me – The Poems: Sweet ballad by a local band. 44)Daddy's Gone – Glasvegas: This is an amazing song with poignant lyrics. Pity the rest of the album is average at best and the singer is a mouthy cunt. 45)Góðan daginn – Sigur Ros: I can't imagine describing music by anyone other Sigur Ros as “beautiful”. 46)Teen Lovers – The Virgins: Funky song with a classic bassline. 47)Stella – Ida Maria – I love her voice. I want her to sing for my band. 48)Long Division – Death Cab For Cutie: Death Cab get rocking. This tended to be the song I'd send to friends I was trying to get into Death Cab. More often than not it succeeded. 49)Focker – Late of the Pier: This year's answer to Klaxons. Almost as good. 50)The Box – Johnny Flynn: He sings about tramps. Supported Laura Marling though it should be the other way round. Both are great however. 51)Souled Out!!! - Conor Oberst: If you like Bright Eyes you'll like this. If you don't like Bright Eyes you/ll probably like it anyway. 52)Letter From God To Man – Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip: Beardy and the other guy released a good album this year. This is my pick from it. The lyrics and concept are excellent. 53)Gobbledigook – Sigur Ros: Not your average Sigur Ros. Someone said it sounds like acoustic happy hardcore. Not far wrong. 54)Of Moons, Birds and Monsters – MGMT: Spacey and faintly psychedelic. 55)Halo – Bloc Party: Highlight from what was a fairly disappointing album. 56)We Own The Sky – M83: Epic. Good for listening to when passing out. 57)Good Arms vs Bad Arms – Frightened Rabbit: This is how Glasvegas wish they could sound. I think... 58)Sausalito – Conor Oberst: It sounds a bit like the Eagles at first. Don't worry. It's not. 59)Miss Myrtle – Albert Hammond Jr.: Catchy riff. Very strokesy as you might expect. 60)The '59 Sound – The Gaslight Anthem: Anthemic title track. 61)Girls & Boys – The Subways: Charlotte Cooper sounds hot as fuck in this. 62)Cape Kod Kwassa Kwassa – Vampire Weekend: Don't knock Vampire Weekend. I know it was a bad idea of them to promote the shitty beyond belief “Oxford Comma” as opening track and lead single but the rest of the album is pretty decent. Honest. 63)Galaxy of the Lost – Lightspeed Champion: Must admit I thought his album was pretty shit. This is excellent though. 64)Eyeless In Holloway – Johnny Flynn: What an intro! What a chorus! Accordion! 65)Take A Bow – Rihanna: I must admit I thought 2008 was a pretty poor year for mainstream pop. Apart from this at least. 66)Supernatural Superserious – R.E.M.: R.E.M.'s first good song since like 1994 or something. 67)I Will Possess Your Heart – Death Cab For Cutie: More than 8 minutes in length. Not long enough. Also good for getting your money's worth at the jukebox. 68)Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds: Not Nick Cave's best album. The title track is deserving of a place among his greatest though. 69)Nine In The Afternoon – Panic At The Disco – Should I be embarassed? Probably. I have another Panic At The Disco song coming up. 70)Heartbreaker – Metronomy: Good, catchy dance song. It's like it's 2007 all over again! 71)I'm Good, I'm Gone – Lykke Li: My brother of all people introduced me to this. It was on a FIFA game you see. 72)Sex on Fire – Kings of Leon: Been getting some criticism here recently. Deserving “mega-hit” though. 73)Hong King Cemetery – Johnny Flynn: Epic. 74)I Am A Believer – The Poems: Sweet. 75)Like Yesterday – Ryan Adams: Amazing live. 76)Balloons – Foals: They were crap live. Ruined this amazing song. 77)A Thousand Words – Styrofoam: Title track is a clear highlight of his 2nd album. It's alright though not as good as his first. 78)Until I Find You – Tim Vanhamel: He's Belgian. Toured with Eagles of Death Metal or something. 79)We Carry On – Portishead: Fucked up. Scary. Intense. 80)New Romantic – Laura Marling: Lyrically like Kate Nash. Musically like...Laura Marling? 81)You Bring Me Down – Blood Red Shoes: This and “Say Something, Say Anything” were the only worthwhile components of their album. 82)Dr. Yang – Ben Folds: CONNECT THE WIRES AND PLUG ME IN!!!!! 83)The Boss Americana – Albert Hammond Jr.: Summery and like the Strokes. 84)Closer – Kings of Leon: The amazing first four tracks of their new album, with this as the opener led me to expect great things of the album. I was disappointed. 85)The Enemy Are The Future – Late of the Pier: I don't get it. I like it though. 86)My Manic And I – Laura Marling: Keystone of an excellent album. 87)This Is How You Spell, "HAHAHA, We Destroyed the Hopes and Dreams of a Generation of Faux-Romantics" – Los Campesinos!: Fucking shitty title. 88)Let Us Down Easy – Ryan Adams: Seeing this live made me fall in love with it. 89)Go Easy – Ryan Adams: First of several songs from a great album. 90)Portrait of a Woman – Marvin B. Naylor: Very British folk played on a rich 12 string guitar. 91)Be My Man – Adam Green: Typical Adam Green I suppose. 92)Impatience – We Are Scientists: Rare high point in an album that was ultimately disappointing when compared to their excellent debut.
  20. I love how it seems like they just couldn't be bothered declaring war on British Virgin Islands
  21. You actually only play each team once in the group of six.
  22. The ones that look quite interesting are Popscene, Wrestling Mpire Career Edition, Reach, and the prison one. I remember I had Wrestling Encore ages ago which I absolutely loved.
