  1. Heroes could well have been the best series of television if it ended after it's first year. It had a perfect beginning, middle and end but the 2nd year was absolutely atrocious.
  2. According to John Cross (Mirror reporter) Yossi Benayoun is done and Mike Arteta is desperate to join Arsenal and apparently is willing to take a pay-cut to sign. On a completely unrelated note Glen Johnson is the only black player left at Liverpool. Dalglish is clearly racist.
  3. For the record Arsene Wenger has denied that our bid was £6m and basically called Gartside a liar. The fact that he had to remove the retweet proves enough to me that he was lying. Reports have actually said the total value of the transfer bid was over £10m, which frankly is a fair enough "opening" bid.
  4. Wow...people actually believe that? He's one of the worst journalists for "if I keep throwing shit against the wall something will eventually stick"
  5. This is a bit of a random question but does anyone know if there is a website that lists Marvel events in chronological order? I'm using Marvel's Digital Comics and decided to re-read Civil War but looking at their Comic Events section it only lists the main book so what I want is a list of all the tie-in books in a sort of a timeline.
  6. Pretty much, except for the part I've flagged up. Everyone knows that raising your hands in an opponents face is a red card, as surely, irrelevant of how hard or otherwise he hit him, slapping someone around the face definitely could be considered 'excessive force or brutality'. Gervinho should have gone, and I don't know how TMM could be making the argument otherwise. The point I was trying to make is that by the letter of the law it is NOT a red card despite what the so-called experts and professionals continue to still insist. However and every Arsenal fan I follow on Twitter and also know personally actually do except the red card but also agree that Barton should have gone and we should have had a penalty either for the foul or the for Barton's "assault"
  7. A couple of final points on the Arsenal/Newcastle game yesterday: Song should have been sent off, no arguement, you'd be hard-pressed to find an Arsenal fan anywhere disagree and I'm sure the FA will probably take some action on. Something someone pointed out on Twitter, we should have had TWO penalties yesterday. Gervinho was fouled, penalty number one and the second one was when Barton aggresively dragged Gervinho to his feet for no reason, no provocation and then grabbed him and yelled aggresively in his face. Should Gervinho have been sent off yesterday? Well by the letter of law, not necessarily, nothing says raising your hands constitutes violent conduct. FIFA's definition of violent conduct is as follows; "A player is guilty of violent conduct if he uses excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball. A player, substitute or substituted player who is guilty of violent conduct must be sent off." By that Barton should have been sent off (excessive force in dragginh him off the floor when not challenging for the ball) and as for Gervinho, well he didn't dive, all he did was slap someone who was holding him aggresively which if you ask me is fair enough. Saying that, most Arsenal fans I follow on Twitter would have accepted us being awarded a penalty and both Barton and Gervinho being sent off. The fact Barton cannot face any retrospective action is disgusting.
  8. Amusing that Joey Barton yanks Gervinho to his feet for diving yet goes down like he has been shot despite getting a slap then telling Robin Van Persie it was a punch, also Steven Taylor telling the referee it was an elbow and then being to scared to say anything to the media. Best thing about it all is that Gervinho was fouled and it wasn't a dive.
  9. Merson: "Modric is in the top five players in the world"...really Merse, really? He's not even the best player in the Spurs squad.
  10. I bought it through Steam and it's perfectly fine. There are rare official updates, usually just big fixes and end of transfer window updates. There won't be anymore official updates. However I think there are a fair few unnofficial ones on Susie
  11. Ramsey is nowhere near ready. In a year or two yes, but not yet. His intelligence and movement on the pitch isn't quite at Wilshire/Nasri/Fabregas level but the "experts" who say he is ready were talking off the back of the Man Utd game in which he scored a pretty good goal but then failed to mention he was a bit naff in the following match. Also on the Fabregas situation, while I'm sure it is very likely he will move soon, giving ANY credibility to Guillem Balague is a joke. So far this summer he has stated a fee has been agreed about two or three times and also the Arsenal board were meeting to discuss the Fabregas transfer on Members Day when they had a pre-arranged meeting anyway.
  12. Super 8 - Brilliant film, don't care if people are comparing it to ET it's such a great film. So far it's my favourite film of the summer and I saw and loved both X-Men and Thor.
  13. Ryo Miyaichi has been granted a work-permit. in the words of Arsene Wenger; "he's like a new signing"
  14. I am definately considering giving FM 2012 a miss because I'm really, really enjoying my current game. I was in charge of AFC Wimbledon for eight years and took them from the Conference to winning the Premier League and Europa League in my final season before being offered the AC Milan job. Been offered loads of big jobs before and was considering Chelsea at the time but finally decided it was time for a change and took the AC job. I inherited a team that finished 5th the year before 17 points off of winners Geonoa but at least managed to qualify for the Europa League and with a few quality players like Toni Kroos, Pato and interestingly Nikola Kalinic. I managed to piss off Pato and he eventually got sold to Arsenal for £55m but with my funds (in addition to what the club had already give me) I managed to bring in Gareth Bale from Man Utd for £39.5m, Petr Cech from Chelsea for £2.5m, Phil Jones from Blackburn for £20m and a number of quality regens including raiding my old team for four players. I'm in January 2019 at the moment and I'm really loving it. FM 2012 needs to give me something amazing for me to consider getting at at release time.
  15. Kyle Bartley has rejoined Rangers on loan for the season (Source) He did well there last year so hopefully he can have another good season and then come back next year and fight for a first-team place
  16. I am on a mission to get Matt Phillips at least one England cap. He's been called up twice so far (once as a replacement) but still hasn't got a game. He's 26 now and far and away the best English winger as far as form goes with 13 goals and 15 assists in 38 league games last season and as of January 4 goals and 6 assists in 17 league games. It is my mission damn it!!
  17. I just signed up to the Marvel Digital Comics thing and despite the fact that it is about a year behind the sheer volume of books is brilliant, I'd definately recommend it as it costs about £30 for a year-long subscription (if you use a discount count). The entire Ultimate X-Men run is online and I've decided to give it a go and after four issues I'm still undecided. The entire recruitment process is just blitzed through in one issue basically but I'm going to give it time and knowing me I'll probably read through until the very end. Anyone got any Marvel recomendations from semi-recently? I'm a huge X-Men fan so anything related to that would probably suit me.
  18. It's definitely possible, I've done it before on the game. It's very hard though, I've never been an icon or legend, and when I was able to scrape onto favoured personnel I was removed as soon as I left the club. Apparently it bases a lot of it on how many trophies you win, so if you did well at Leeds but didn't win any silverware, it's unlikely you'd get on it... It's definately possible. I've been in charge of AFC Wimbledon for 5 years, taken them from the Conference to the Premiership and in that time I've only managed to win the Championship but I'm now listed in the Favoured Personnel and my job status is Very Secure...despite about a week ago being Untouchable
  19. I'm nearing the end of February 2014 in what has to be up there with my most successful games ever on either Football Manager or Championship Manager. Playing as AFC Wimbledon and in the first season I finished 2nd in the Conference to earn promotion via the Play-Offs. Second season saw me struggle my way to finish in the third automatic promotion place in League Two. Third season, now in League One was more difficult but I managed to finish 5th and eventually won the Play-Off final against Sheffield Wednesday to get promoted to the Championship!! As an indication of how much of a struggle things have been I have spent a grand total of £40k in nearly four years in charge and every penny of that was in my first season before I realised how shit my stadium was. Kingsmeadow holds less that 5,000 with a quarter of it seated. Luckily over the years I have gained £2.5m from player sales and have decided that, unless absolutely necessary I won't pay for anybody (other than the obvious signing on fees and agent fees) because I'm trying to stockpile as much cash as possible to convince the board to build a new stadium. Just recently I convinced them to do just that and now they are in the planning stage so fingers crossed it will all happen. My back-to-back promotions have been helped by one of my several constants; Phil Younghusband. He has turned out to be an absolute beast for me, breaking the clubs goal scoring record (101 league goals in 146 games) and currently 5 appearances off of breaking that as well. He, Jacob Walcott, Simon Greatwich and Jeremy Helan have been with me since the Conference days in one form or the other. My "no spending" rule has turned up some amazing signings. This season I managed to get Boaz Myhill, Scott Sinclair, Adel Taarabt and Jermaine Pennant for nothing! The first three had all been released while Pennant was listed for sale at £0. Currently sitting 13th in the Championship on 45 points after 33 games. A good run of form (which looks unlikely) could take me into the Play-Offs as I'm only 6 points behind 6th placed Hull.
  20. Does anyone know how much prize money you get for getting promoted to the Premiership via the Play-Offs?
  21. X-Files: I Want To Believe: I have two ratings for this film; 5/10 as an X-Files film and 6.5/10 if it was just a normal film. Having watching the entire series I'm remembering some of the episodes from there and comparing it and if it were an episode in the TV series it would fit in perfectly and would be very good. However like the other X-Files film it just felt like a glorified extended TV episode, which is a shame. Saying that I did enjoy it as simply a film as the plot was interesting and everyone played their parts well.
  22. My only real interest in watching this film is because of Ryan Reynolds. I know nothing about the Green Lantern character or anything remotely related to it so I have absolutely no preconceptions about how the film should be. Therefore I'm going in hoping it's a decent-to-good film so these poor reviews really not helping. Saying that the trailers have done nothing to interest me so far at all.
  23. Someone on Twitter who closely follows the French league said that Liverpool have dodged a bullet by not signing Marveaux as despite being a very good player he would be a very risky signing. He failed his medical at Liverpool and spent a long time out injured with a groin injury.
