  1. Then you have eliminated the system that lays the grounds for your conjecture. Your entire thesis requires reworking.
  2. Damien Rice- Blower's Daughter Cannon Ball Volcano Bruce Springsteen- Anything off the new Devils and Dust album.
  3. Except Huey, Dewey, and Louie are Scrooge's nephews as well. By your logic that gives them two fathers, and makes Donald and his illeged father brothers. Your system is flawed.
  4. Jungleland by Bruce Springsteen has a pretty sick sax solo. Also, check out some Dave Matthews Band. Their sax player gets pretty awesome... especially on the Listener Supported stuff. Oh, and listen to Rudie Can't Fail by the Clash. That was ska before ska was ska.
  5. Great, next thing we know Seal will be making a comeback.
  6. I thought it was great, especially because she had just been shot in the vest like most typical cop shows... then BOOM surprised the hell out me. Plus she was probably the biggest supporting character... so I'd say it was a good 'Holy shit' finish.

    Betrayal

Throne of Blood... it is Kurosawa's samurai adaptation of MacBeth and it fucking rocks.
  8. Check out Liquid Tension Experiment... it is all instrumental stuff and is akin to some of the stuff Dream Theater does. Basically they sit around and think up music that is considered impossible to perform and then perform it.
  9. Predator 7/10... Probably one of the best pure action movies ever (pure action being a film that carries no underlying message or dogma.) Platoon 9/10... My favorite Vietnam movie.
  10. My, my, my, where to begin? I absolutely loved the movie. I was a little bit offed at first when I saw Madson's delivery of his first few lines to Bruce. I thought he sort of over played the comic vibe in their opening sequence. By the end he was much better. Willis' character Hartigan was definately the best developed, and had some of the best lines in the film... (ie the palsy line, then I'll punch out god etc...) Marv was the most badass of the characters, and certainly the best performed. It is easy to see how people used to say that Mickey Rourke was going to be the next Brando before he slipped into retirement. I am glad to see that he is out. (sidenote, has he made anything that wasn't done by troublemaker since returning?) Clive Owen's sequences with a dead Benicio were great. It reminded me of Lord of the Flies for a little bit. I am not a big Rosario Dawson fan, and her acting in these scenes bolstered that for me.
  11. I agree that long hair suits her better.
  12. I am probably the only one to salivate over Devils and Dust... Oh man. Share the love.
  13. There is a great group called Clann Zu and they are just about the best band to come out of Ireland. Half the lyrics are in english, and half are in Irish Gaelic. I recommend them highly... A good song to start with is Words of Snow. http://www.clannzu.com/ You get alot of their music under downloads from the site. I REALLY recommend checking it out. It is unlike anything else listed above.
  14. Jesus, you people have been watching too much Paulie Shore is Dead. Not every celebrity who dies before their time is celebrated like they were geniuses.. People were sad when Aliayah died, but no one called her Aretha Franklin. People where sad when ODB died, but no one called him Tupac or Biggy. And certainly no one called the lead to Drowning Pool a Maynard Keenan when he died. If Michael kills himself he will be just what he is now, a brilliant star who fizzled into frantic oblvion and only manages to remain in the spot light for the same reasons most people slow down when they pass an accident. He is a shell of the performer he once was and I hope he gets his life back on track... or on track at all. Plus who the fuck are we to support him killing himself? A couple smug kids on a wrestling board.
  15. Isn't it obvious? They asked him to be the new Pope, and no body turns down that gig.
  16. Horrible news. Mitch was my favorite standup comedian. He had a unique delivery method and an inventive mind for dry humor that is on par with that of Steven Wright. I saw him live a few months back at the State theater and it was hilarious. Sadly though, I am not really shocked that this happened. When I saw him he got plastered on stage, and did a portion of the act laying on the stage behind the backdrop because he was so drunk. My personal favorite as far as his jokes go was the round about AIDs test.
  17. Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen It literally saved him from being dropped from his record deal and drew attention to his previous work, which has gone on into critical acclaim. After releasing this album he became the first man to be on the cover of both Time Magazine and Rolling Stone in the same month. Between Springsteen and Led Zepplin, 70's rock was revived, and without them some of my subsequent favorites never would have exisited. No Pearl Jam, no Saddle Creek bands, no Rage and certainly no U2. On a more personal level, these are the songs I grew up with and they were the songs my father grew up with. My first cassette was Born to Run and while the Boss's entire career has produced music I love this album has some of the real stand outs like Thunder road, Jungleland, 10th Avenue Freeze out, Night, and Meeting Across the River. All and all it might not be the greatest for everyone else on this board, but it is the greatest to me... and you'd be a fool to deny its impact.
  18. My guess would be Scorpion... he just sort of fits the look and feel of the character.
  19. The later Beatles stuff was great... they evolved so much. Their pop stuff never really hit with me all that well, but Happiness is a Warm Gun, While My Guitair Gently Weeps, Dear Prudence, and songs from that era of the band are fucking clutch.
  20. I think Hartnett is alright, but he has a certain Randy Orton effect to him... I just can't seem to like him. He isn't a horrible actor but I think people shit on him a little extra just because of that x-factor.
  21. Most people are suprised when I say this, but I am a MASSIVE Bruce Springsteen fan. I love everything the man has ever done. Any other Boss fans?
  22. I saw them do it live recently, it sounds fine and it isn't taking the integrity of the song down at all. Only on EWB will you have people bitch about bands that are taking their power and status and using it to for charity. Only here do we have people who will look at that story and say, wow they are inhuman because they are covering a classic song instead of thinking wow, what a great way to generate some cash for some people who need it. What a great way to HELP people.
  23. Number deuce is rather prime. I am suprised they didn't have anything from Raging Bull though... It was voted best film of the decade for christ sake!
  24. Travolta's comeback after Pulp Fiction was tailor made for this topic.
