  1. Maybe she is not a fan of the show? I thought Troyzan was dumbest for not instantly voting 500$.
  2. Take Troy out and the whole season is going to get a hell of a lot more predictable than it already is. At least him winning immunity puts the girls on edge.
  3. Love the Troyzan versus the world and all the cattiness that comes along with it. Also, how stupid are Christina, Leif, Tarzan and Alicia? This was their only time to move against the four women. At eight, will be a tie and draw rocks. At 7 they won't have the numbers. Dumb dumb dumb dumb. Here is hoping that Troy goes on an immunity run to the end.
  4. This all just reminded me - Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole is probably the worst title of a movie ever. Bar none. That shit is bad.

    AT THE DRIVE-IN REUNITE.

I'm not gonna lie, the live clips I've seen of them are horrendous. Like, this hasn't aged very well horrendous.
  6. Scrubs and Futurama both are bizarre inclusions in the final 8. I love Futurama, but I think it's definitely lucky to squeak in to the final 8. Is it even still on?
  7. I'm a little surprised South Park got knocked out before final 8, but I'm assuming it's all about the quality of the show of late. If this was done around season 6-10, I'm sure it'd be final 4 at least.
  8. Will be interesting to see who the final 4 are. I'm predicting a Community, Breaking Bad, Simpsons, Arrested Development final 4. But Sons of Anarchy could get the upset.
  9. Yeah I saw the Hives set. Was pretty awesome. Loved the tuxedos. I watched a great deal of the sets through the weekend on the stream. Neon Indian were funky as always. Yuck impressed me... wasn't a fan before, will download their LP. Arctic Monkeys looked bored. Frank Ocean was disappointing, sound was off. Refused was out of this world. Azealia Banks was great and fun. Childish Gambino sounded much better live than recorded. Kaiser Chiefs surprised me for being a lot of fun. Bon Iver was meh for me. SBTRKT had, bar none, the best set. Radiohead were chill. The Hives delivered a great set live.
  10. Personally, I'm hoping the Sens advance. I've got an invite to watch a few playoff games in the box seats, so the selfish prick in me wants the Sens to advance so that I can put this to use.
  11. I texted my partner "oh fuck, the Pens are almost out, this is horrible" and he texted back "why so bad? Just go to the store and buy some more". I laughed for a good ten minutes. It was good to know I could laugh again after the Flyers raped my beloved Penguins.
  12. I'm actually shocked that the Three Stooges didn't get ravaged by the critics or the box office. Actually fared pretty decently with both viewing audiences and critics.
  13. I thought metal fans despised Liturgy. Aren't they considered like the hipsters of black metal?
  14. Really sad to hear to this. Pop music never get it's fair shake in the critical music community and the Bee Gees are no different. The Bee Gees were superb song writers and singers who had some amazing songs. It's funny because in the seventies, there was the huge "disco sucks" movement and people were smashing the Bee Gee's records. Rock fans revolted against the Bee Gees and disco music, probably in large part due to ignorance, homophobia and racism. But in the last 5-15 years, it's really been disco and dance music that have influenced the culture of music and rock music is no longer relevant. If the Bee Gees existed today, I'm pretty certain they would have been just as successful commercially and way more successfully critically.

    South Park

God (or maybe not, if he exists, or perhaps he does/n't) forbid a show not shove the message that being conservative or liberal is the right way and that the other way is wrong. But you're probably right. South Park entire gimmick for the last 8-10 seasons has been to cram a message down your throat.
  17. I think it has been hinted at several times that Tarzan is horrible at the game. He's got no social skills, he goes off on everybody on his alliance, he can't remember anybody's name and he seems to be out of the loop strategically. The week Monica got voted out, Colton basically spelled out that Tarzan was a liability and could ruin the whole plan. I'm sure that was a lot to do with editing. I think another reason why Troy and Jay did end up siding with the girls was because Mike didn't want to align with the guys. Tonight, Troy told Tarzan that Mike was never with them and had already switched to the girls by the merge. That was definitely my read of the situation, that Mike was never going to vote with the guys. EDIT: Yeah, where the hell did Kat come from? She's was edited wonderfully last night.
  18. Well, Tarzan did go completely bonkers in the tribal council after the merge and announce they should all target Jonas, which seems to indicate to me that Tarzan is probably the last person I'd wanna be aligned with.
  19. Agreed. But in honesty, the alternative was to stick with Leif and Tarzan. I don't know which is worse for the Troy and Jay. The men fucked themselves over big time by targeting Matt and Bill.
  20. Bahahaha. Also: wow. I know some people aren't digging this season, but I really am. That was a great episode right there. Not many times are the votes revealed and you are legitimately confused over who voted for who and who was going home. This season has been great post-merge because of the four potential difference voting blocs - original girls, original boys and the two mixed tribes. I don't think it was an exceptionally dumb move for Troy and Jay to take out Jonas and than Mike like they did. Their plan - stick with the woman - was decent. It just didn't turn out because the woman were more organized and saw the men for the threats they were. EDIT: To add to what a gong show post-merge has been - what the fuck would have happened had Colton been there? Take out non existent floaters Alicia OR Christina and add in a psycho path with a hidden immunity idol.

    The Punk Thread

I've got the Bob Mould biography lying around. My uncle gave it to me months ago, I just haven't gotten around to it. Worth the time? Punk rock is such an interesting music genre. It just seemed to attract these individuals who were all brilliant outsiders who just fell by the wayside. There are so many iconic figures in the punk rock movement - Johnny Rotten, Sid Vicious, Iggy Pop, Joe Strummer, Henry Rollins, Darby Crash, Ian MacKaye, GG Allin. Such weird, fascinating and brilliant individuals who probably never would have made it famous in any other music genre. It's weird to think that a guy like Jello Biafra, who is so over the top, looks normal and dull in comparison to countless other punk rock figures. The Germs is definitely one of the bands I've been listening to recently who I legitimately missed out on as a youth. They sound so blissful now, but would have sounded a million times better when I was younger.

On one hand, that seems like a rational and well articulated opinion. On the other hand, your avatar.
  24. I watched the sitcom version of the "The Ellen Show" the other day on Netflix (don't ask me why). Anyways, it was co-created with Mitchell Hurwitz, the dude behind Arrested Development. Watching the sitcom, it's interesting to see because it reminds me of Arrested Development filmed before a live audience. Not in terms of quality, just in terms of humor and approach. Ellen definitely reminds me A LOT of the Michael Bluth character and are essentially the same character with the same sort of delivery in both shows.
