  1. I was a gigantic fan of Michael Jackson... I have all of his albums, and was legitimately thinking of somehow making it over to the UK to see his show. Truly a icon. I remember watching him perform Billy Jean at the Motown 25th reunion. It was one of those moments where you knew you were watching something spectacular... that this man possessed so much natural charisma and oozed charm. For someone who I have never met before, he has had a tremendous impact on my life and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Everyone knows Benny Benassi's shit, even if you don't know it by name. Everyone and their mothers has to have heard Satisfaction... Also, everyone should rush out and download the leaked tracks from Simian Mobile Disco. So amazing.
  3. Billy Talent. I saw them play a few years ago when their debut had just come out. I wasn't a fan and expected them to be complete and utter shit. Turns out they are really really great live and I came to respect them after. Great live band that got me to actually like their back catalogue.

That's actually a fucking stellar line up. The first day is great obviously with the headliners, Tiga, Steve Aoki, Kaskade, Busy P, Robbier Rivera... all really stellar acts. However the second day? Out of this fucking world. David Guetta is fucking amazing, LCD Soundsystem/DFA, Hot Chip, Hercules & Love Affair, fucking Frankie Knuckles (!!!), Lindstrom, Audion and a few other really great names. That's a fucking amazing set. The only downer being I saw Andy Butler (Hercules and Love Affair) do a DJ set before. He was fucking amazing though, so definitely worth seeing a second time around. I think the first day is a bit hit and miss, but you'd be crazy to miss the second day.

I've recently gotten back into Soulwax... Nite Versions is so fucking amazing it's crazy. Everything from their remix of Daft Punk's "Teachers" to the mix of E-Talking is seriously insane. Very underrated release, because from top to bottom it's an incredible release. Recently got hold of Tiga's new record, Ciao! Very very good release and definitely a huge improvement over Sexor. Tiga's first two singles off, Mind Dimension and Shoes, are great. Mind Dimension is perfect for the club. For those who are interested in a great site for dance music and club culture... http://www.residentadvisor.net/
  6. A lot of people are upset over Adam's loss. Honestly, even though I predicted he'd win (in fact, I think I said I'd eat my hat if he lost), it doesn't fuss me. I think perhaps it's better that Kris won. Adam was going to benefit from the show, regardless of victory or not. Kris victory simply means that he might get a bit more of a boost. I personally thought Kris was ho-hum and nothing special, but he had his fans so it's great he won.

    Glee

Katsyua, be honest with me from one gay to another... Should I download this show and watch it?
  8. The new Patrick Wolf is out/leaked/whatever. If you liked his past work, it's right on par. I fucking love it, because I'm a huge fan of Patrick Wolf's ability to simply mix so many genres and elements into one album and still make very listenable songs.

    Singles

Ciara & Justin Timberlake - Love Sex Magic Two things: a) When did Ciara become so damn amazing? and b) Does everything Justin turn to gold? His verse in this song oozes sex and charm. Peaches - Talk To Me Who knew that in 2009, I'd be saying this: Peaches new album is romantic. Sure, she raps about fucking billionaires, but its almost as if the woman grew emotions over night. James Ford of SMD produces and boy does he do a great job. Lady GaGa - Pokerface/Just Dance/Love Game Queen of 2009. Everyone better catch up to her, because she is a trail blazer. Franz Ferdinand - No You Girls Great song... Franz definitely know how to get the hips shaking. Antony and the Johnsons - Another World Beautiful song about the enviroment and from saving ourselves from... ourselves.
  10. As one of the token gays on the board, I know I'll be at the movie theatre to watch this one. I am so conflicted about the point of the movie and the outing of gay politicians. On one hand, I am of the belief no one should ever be outed - it is even worse when it is done by someone within the community. It creates a divide in the community and in my opinion, treats closeted individuals like second class citizens within the gay community. On the other hand, especially in this day and age, there is no such thing as privacy any more. Furthermore, by exposing these hypocritical politicians it can try and force those individuals and other individuals who are closeted politicians to rethink their stance. People always say things aren't ever black and white, things are shades of grey. I think this movie is a great example of that ... I really have no idea whether I will love, hate or be indifferent about those movie and it's message. But at the very least, I know I'll be at the movie theatre.
  11. Unless Adam Lambert rapes a child or sings Aphex Twin, the guy is winning. He can't do anything wrong in the judges or the fans eyes. Especially if what this guy is saying is reliable. The guy can dress up in drag and make out with two billion men, and I think he'd still walk away with this thing. Once again, I could be completely wrong, but all signs are point towards Adam winning this thing easily.
  12. Yeah, I don't really even see where there is a contest. Lambert is clearly the only person who feasibly should win the contest. Compare him to Danny Gokey or Matt Giraud... sure they are alright singers, but Lambert just blows them out of the water in terms of voice, presence and ability to know what songs he should be singing. Lambert gets praised for orginality, but it's not orginality: he is just able to understand what songs people are going to like and what songs sound amazing with his voice.
  13. I actually kinda dig that Mars Volta song. I don't know why I like it more than there other shit, but I do.
  14. Maybe I'm behind the times, but I checked out Ida Marie today and I love it. I usually am not a fan of this type of party music, but I definitely see myself getting drunk to this album in the near future. She has a great voice that totally suits her music.

    The Rolling Stones

I have to say... I do enjoy the Rolling Stones. I generally dislike a lot of "classic rock", but there is something interesting and special about the Stones. I like them A MILLION times more than I like the Beatles. In my view, they just have better songs, more swagger, more sex appeal. The Beatles were too ho-hum for me.
  16. Oh yeah, I totally agree. But I think even when they just write really lazy for Kristen, it's hilarious. She is just a naturally funny and talented person who, in my opinion, makes anything really funny. I think the problem is when they start to give her reoccuring characters is when it gets bad. Her humour comes from it being funny one time only, no repeats. When you start repeating her characters, it just gets bad quickly. Magruber works because it can be funny over and over again... its the basis for the entire sketch. Her characters... not so much.
  17. I just want to chime in and say I think Kristen Wiig is hands down the funniest on the show. Not that the rest of the cast isn't talented (the only exception being Keenan Thompson... I HATE him with a passion...) but Kristen is so god damn funny.
  18. Most of these I own, however, some are downloaded only. (3)
  19. My dad has all of this crap saved on VHS and anytime we want to really laugh, we just put it on. Who thought Eddie Murphy as a pop star was a good idea?
  20. Pet Shop Boys are on a roll lately - honored by the Brit Awards, Love Etc. dropped in March, their full length debuted in the UK and is soon to drop here in the United States. A lengthy career as a pop band, with lots of great hits and lots of great albums. Witty, danceable and completely relevant, the Pet Shop Boys are one of the best things to come out of the 80's. I gave them a good old 9 out of ten. They have so many great singles that span so many decades, however, I feel like some of their full lengths really lack. My favorite album by them is Very, just because it was head-to-toe one of best albums of the 90's. As far as singles go, once again I had to butcher the list and try and take their top charting singles, as well as including some of their later work. Out of the singles listed, obviously I have to go with Go West. Great great great song.
  21. Acclaimedmusic.net collects year end lists, best of lists and awards for every album and song released since the 1950's. They than proceed to rank the albums and songs by year, decade and than overall. From that, they than proceed to make a list of what they believe is the most critically acclaimed groups/artists of all time. It is your job to rank them however you want based upon any criteria you want. Here they are in order: 1 The Beatles 2 The Rolling Stones 3 Bob Dylan 4 David Bowie 5 Led Zeppelin 6 Bruce Springsteen 7 Prince 8 The Who 9 Elvis Presley 10 Jimi Hendrix 11 Radiohead 12 The Beach Boys 13 R.E.M. 14 The Velvet Underground 15 U2 16 Marvin Gaye 17 Neil Young 18 The Clash 19 Nirvana 20 Stevie Wonder So my list would look something like this. 1. The Clash 2. David Bowie 3. R.E.M. 4. Stevie Wonder 5. Marvin Gaye 6. Elvis Presley 7. Neil Young 8. The Rolling Stones 9. Led Zeppelin 10. Prince 11. Radiohead 12. The Velvet Underground 13. U2 14. The Beach Boys 15. Bruce Springsteen 16. Jimi Hendrix 17. The Who 18. The Beatles 19. Nirvana 20. Bob Dylan Clash/Bowie/R.E.M/Wonder are in my view, the top four artists of all time. Each has a lengthy catalogue of amazing songs and albums that are way better than the typical choices of Beatles/Stones/Zeppelin. Who/Beatles/Nirvana/Dylan are just four bands I can't stand at all. Especially Dylan. He'd be negative zero in my books if I could rank him. He might get one bonus point for Like A Rolling Stone, which is an alright song. EDIT: Forgot to put Acclaimed Music's list.
  22. Holler for the format!!! That's right... I said it.. HOLLER The Format are the best band to listen to when you are in a fight with your significant other. Hence why I always play that song.

    South Park

Just watched all 3 episodes. The first was really good. It was nice to see someone take the piss out of the Jonas Brothers and have a really good point. The impression of the Jonas Brothers was spot on. It was fabulous. The second was my favorite so far. Lots of Butters, Cartman acting like an idiot, the adults of South Park seemingly being mindless idiots - great great great. The third one was maybe the weakest, but had the best laugh (headless chicken) as well as some other good moments. Remarkably one of the only times Randy wasn't that funny/ Great episodes. Off to a way better start than Season 12 (Britney Spears episode? come on...)
  25. Blur is soon to be reuniting and a lot of people are bound to be happy. Starting off deeply rooted in Brit-pop, the band peaked with Parklife, perhaps their most acclaimed album, and showed off more versatile sounds. After, Blur continued to experiment, most notably on 13 and Think Tank, with both albums experimenting with new electronic sounds. The result is a band who has released seven distinct and radically different LPs, each with different reasons to love and hate. I rank Blur 10 out of 10. Probably the best band of the 1990's, with THREE AMAZING LPS in Parklife, Blur and 13. Think Tank is also one of my top 5 records of this decade. I don't think they released a bad album, however I think their self-titled and Modern Life are both pretty good albums, but no where near the quality of their later work. In choosing their best album, its so hard, because each album is amazing in it's own respect. In my view, its really a contest between 13 and Think Tank, with Think Tank getting the nod in my opinion. If I had to rank, it'd probably go Think Tank, 13, Blur, Parklife, The Great Escape, Modern Life and Leisure. In terms of singles, my favorite Blur songs aren't even included in this poll (Ambulance, Battle), but of the one's I've included, I think I might have to go with Music Is My Radar. Such an amazing and danceable song.
