  1. You mean The Last Guardian? Things certainly seem to have been quiet in that area considering that it's been in development for more than five years now.
  2. Grand Magus, Conan, Cerebral Bore, A Forest of Stars, Humanfly, Talons and Illuminatus complete the line-up. For £29 this doesn't look bad at all. I'd be all over this if there weren't so many other gigs and events going on in November.
  3. Most of my favourite sitcoms are the older ones, such as Dad's Army, Fawlty Towers, Only Fools and Horses and Blackadder. I also really enjoyed a few 90s sitcoms, particularly Red Dwarf and Men Behaving Badly. Since the turn of the century, there haven't really been as many comedies that have grabbed my attention, but I did quite like the early series of My Hero, thanks in no small part to Ardal O'Hanlon.
  4. It's supposedly a spiritual sequel, so there shouldn't be any worries about having to understand a backstory if you haven't played Demon's Souls. From what I've heard, Dark Souls might be even harder than Demon's Souls, although that could just be hot air from the developers.
  5. There's the 2008 cell shaded game.. but I think he's referring to The Forgotten Sands. I was actually referring to the 2008 game, so thanks for the reply.
  6. Is the Prince of Persia reboot any good? I've heard very mixed reviews about it, but I'm considering giving it a go, if only because it's so cheap at the moment.
  7. Although I have no doubt that the impending Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart and Smash Bros. titles will be valuable sales boosters for the 3DS, I think it will ultimately be down to a few off-the-radar games carrying an element of mass market appeal that would really make it catch on. Super Smash Bros. Melee, Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart: Double Dash and the first two Metroid Prime games all sold well on the Gamecube, but they weren't enough to prevent the console trailing behind the Playstation 2 and Xbox in terms of unit sales. The Wii and the DS, whilst being helped by the name power of its established franchises, both realised the difference between moderate success and huge profitability thanks to the releases of new IPs that drew in consumers who might not otherwise have entertained the idea of video gaming as a pastime, such as Wii Sports, Wii Fit and Just Dance on the Wii, along with Brain Training and Nintendogs on the DS. The basic gist of what I'm trying to say is that I don't think it will be the ports or the new versions of established franchises that will prove pivotal, but that it will be up to a few little titles that capture the public mood to really give the 3DS some momentum.
  8. Looks like a fairly straightforward group for England. In other words, it's just the sort of group in which they're most likely to mess up.
  9. Norway seem a lot higher than I thought they would be.
  10. There are some excellent little games in there, all of which can be activated through Steam. As with the previous bundles, the charitable cause makes it even better.
  11. I'm eyeing up the Leeds date, but I'm not optimistic about the ticket prices.
  12. How did the X-Japan show go? I quite like some of their material but I've only ever seen footage of them in front of Asian audiences.
  13. Scott Cuthbert was considered a decent prospect a few years ago, but I'm not really sure how he's turned out since then.
  14. I would be up for some L4D2 at some point if anyone can put up with my lack of ability.
  15. If anyone is at all interested in the survival horror genre, they should seriously consider getting Amnesia: The Dark Descent. While it doesn't really do anything groundbreakingly new in terms of gameplay, its atmosphere alone makes it one of very few genuinely scary games to have been released in recent years.
  16. Admittedly, I don't know anything about Wilczewski, but I'll be interested to see how DeGale rebounds from his recent loss to George Groves. It was a close fight between two domestic rivals and a rematch must surely be on the cards, but one has to wonder whether Frank Warren will be able to orchestrate DeGale's run to the world title picture without risking the possibility of another defeat, much in the same way as he did following Amir Khan's loss to Breidis Prescott.
  17. 1. I feel it's a bit unfair to say that the players who want to go are doing it for personal gain, look at Messi when he pleaded to go with Argentina and won a gold medal. Maybe the Olympics aren't the top of the pile for football players like it is for Gymnasts and the like, but they still want to win and represent their country. And 2. Good luck getting them to show less passion than they already do. That was my first reaction, and I would imagine that of most other readers. It's enough of a problem at the best of times, but I can't see many players wanting to miss games for their club in order to compete in the Olympics, and that's not even getting in to how their club managers would react to the idea.
  18. Sir, are you suggested that the British media is somewhat fickle? Perish the thought! I would never suggest that our fine, upstanding journalists and fans would ever unduly criticise that tantrum-throwing, English-hating, baby-eating mongrel Murray. After all, the pure, mild-mannered Englishman, Tim Henman, was treated so much better.
  19. I definitely agree with you on Murray. Most of the bandwagon fans will never respect him unless he wins Wimbledon and, even if he did, he'd still get plenty of flak if he didn't then go on to win it every single year after that. It's a shame because, during the twilight years of the careers of both Henman and Rusedski, most British tennis fans would have killed to have another player in the top 50, let alone a top-5 player who's reached three Grand Slam finals and won several Masters Series events. I'm sure those same critics would suddenly become his biggest fans if he won a Slam, only to turn on him once again the next time he lost in a major tournament.
  20. Murray has actually been as high as second, albeit for a very short period of time. At the moment, though, I think he's significantly behind the top three in terms of ranking points.
  21. It looks as though we could be heading for an extremely interesting US hard court season. Djokovic is obviously the man to beat now, so it will be interesting to see how he copes with the pressure of trying to win the US Open for the first time whilst carrying the burden of being the favourite, not to mention the possibility of fatigue setting in after a long season. Nadal, the defending champion, will be particularly keen to take the final Slam of the year in order to halt Djokovic's dominance, but the hard courts represent arguably his weakest surface. Federer, despite being overshadowed by Nadal and Djokovic at the moment, is still playing reasonably well. Before his quarter-final defeat at Wimbledon, I thought he was playing better than anyone else in the tournament, and he also holds the distinction of being the only man to beat Djokovic so far this year. With less pressure on him than in previous years, he could still pose a huge threat. Murray is also playing well, but he still needs that little extra something to push him to the very elite level of the game. He's undoubtedly a hard court specialist, though, and the US Open should offer his best opportunity for Grand Slam success. Outside the fabled "Big Four", Del Potro appears to be gathering fitness all the time. I definitely think he could be a big contender by the time the US Open comes around, and he should be the man that all the top players will want to avoid before the semi-finals. I'm also intrigued to see how the likes of Tomic and Tsonga perform after their runs at Wimbledon, especially if any of the top performers suffer injuries or fatigue before the final stages. With any luck, it should all shape up nicely for an enthralling, open contest.
  22. Bobfoc I have a lot of Steam games, but most of them are of the single-player variety. I would be open to the likes of Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 online if anyone was interested, though.
  23. I'm fairly sure that you just have to have Warlords installed for its content to load into your games. You can then start the game using the Beyond the Sword launcher and everything from both expansions should be in place.
  24. I prefer Civ IV with both expansion packs added into the equation, but Civ V is definitely a lot of fun. The developers have already released several patches and updates as well, meaning that the game should theoretically continue to improve and develop.
