  1. If Star Wars: The Old Republic is reasonably successful, I can definitely see Bioware looking into the possibility of a Mass Effect MMO. Even if they don't, I can definitely see the series continuing long after this particular trilogy ends. Perhaps the next step would be to start a new story arc with a non-human main character, or perhaps they could lift the concept of the "origins" stories for the different races and classes from the first Dragon Age. I'c certainly like to see how things would work out by playing as a Krogan having to go through all the rites of passage on Tuchanka, or maybe a Quarian having to deal with wearing a suit to avoid the contraction of illnesses. There's simply too much potential to abandon the franchise after the third game.
  2. Given the fans' respect for him, it would have been difficult for them not to offer him the job on a permanent basis. I'll be interested to see how he does after a full summer of preparation and what looks likely to be a better transfer budget than Hodgson got last year. Once this season is over, the honeymoon period will surely be over and the real test will start for Dalglish. I'm no Liverpool fan, but I still hope he copes well with the raised expectations.

    South Park

I have read quite a few negative reviews of this week's episode, but I enjoyed it. It was always likely that some sort of Bin Laden reference would be made, along with the Royal Wedding and I'm actually glad that they didn't centre an entire episode around either of them. What I felt we got in the end was a reasonably amusing, well-balanced episode that kept its admittedly steady momentum going throughout, without ever being spectacular.
  4. Will this patch be focused totally on the addition of hotseat multiplayer or will there be further tweaks to the single-player game?
  5. Your list looks a lot like mine. I'm getting fairly anxious to see the final setlist times so that I can confirm the inevitable clashes.
  6. I get that feeling too. I have a male and a female Shepard that I have used for all my playthroughs on both games, and seeing footage of different versions seems almost unnatural. That's what I feel character customisation should be all about. Rather than being completely bombarded with the most intricate, in-depth appearance customisation tools known to man, I feel as though the decisions I've made over the course of the two games has truly allowed me to become attached to my Shepards, more so than in any other game.
  7. In case anyone hasn't yet heard, some rumours have been swirling around over the last couple of weeks regarding a new Nintendo console. Nintendo Japan has now confirmed that the rumours are true, mentioning 2012 as the target release date. No other official details have been released, but many of the rumours suggest that it could have graphical and processing power comparable to or greater than that of the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, along with full backwards compatibility for Wii games. Some sort of touch-screen feature has also cropped up during speculation among gaming sites. Here is the source: http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/116/1163764p1.html
  8. The thing that struck me most about that image is the fact that 86% of the fans didn't want him in the first team. In real life, he's been Forest's best player by a significant margin this season.
  9. As expected, The Darkness have been announced as Friday's sub-headliners. Funeral for a Friend, The Plain White T's, Kvelertak, Framing Hanley and Hyro Da Hero have also been added to the lineup.
  10. I believe that the situation with Portsmouth was such that they would have missed out on a European place even if they had won the FA Cup. It was something to do with the fact that the club didn't apply for a UEFA club licence during their period in administration.
  11. Panther won't be at Download - maybe next year though. Oh, and eFestivals is bollocks and takes its rumours from DL's forums (whether they are actually rumours or just BS, they don't discriminate). This is true. eFestivals also has Soundgarden down as a strong rumour, despite there being no evidence that they'll tour outside America at all this year. Generally, the same bands (Metallica, Van Halen, Iron Maiden, Rammstein etc.) appear on the site under the "Strongly Rumoured" category as early as around October, only to be removed later when it becomes clear that there was no substance to the rumours at all. It's actually quite a shame as it used to be a reasonably reliable site three or four years ago.
  12. Skunk Anansie have now been confirmed. They will play directly below Avenged Sevenfold on the main stage on Saturday.
  13. Puddle of Mudd are, as expected, one of the announced bands. The others are as follows: VersaEmerge The Pretty Reckless Times of Grace Evile Suicide Silence Your Demise There are a couple of good bands in there for me, which isn't bad for a "small" announcement at this stage. Evile should put on a good show and Puddle of Mudd will be interesting even though I'm not a particularly huge fan. I'm generally unfamiliar with the others, though, so I would have to check them out before venturing any kind of opinion. Still, on the whole, though, things are looking fairly solid and promising at the moment, at least in my opinion. Yes, I can understand why some people may be a little disenchanted by some of the bands in the more prominent positions on the bill, but I think that the undercard makes up for it to a large extent.
  14. The announcement will be in tomorrow's issue of Kerrang, and also on the website in the morning. It should be interesting, but there's no doubt that people will complain no matter who happens to be announced.
  15. That might make more sense, then. Coming to think of it, I did hear rumours that Whitesnake might be playing underneath Judas Priest, which might push Queensryche further down the bill.
  16. That's true, but my point was that I would have been much more interested in attending the festival were it not for the fact that both the Saturday headliner and subheadliner are also playing their own shows during the same timeframe. From what I can gather, a lot of people are of the opinion that it takes away some of High Voltage's appeal, and I can see where they are coming from. Perhaps it would have been different if they were playing their shows later in the year, but, as it stands, it I think that it may have an adverse effect, even if only a minor one, on High Voltage's ticket sales.
  17. Judas Priest are reportedly doing a few UK academy dates with Queensryche around the same time as High Voltage, which somewhat lessens the appeal of getting a day ticket if I can see them elsewhere. I suppose it will probably come down to the overall price differences between the two options.
  18. Bring Me The Horizon Disturbed Madina Lake All That Remains Turisas The Devil Wears Prada Cheap Trick Black Stone Cherry Asking Alexandria Sacred Mother Tongue Jameson Raid Ghost Straight Line Stitch The King Blues Bowling For Soup Frank Turner Apparently, this is the list of the bands confirmed in today's issue of Kerrang. There are quite a few names in there that interest me and, all in all, the festival is taking shape nicely from my point of view. Of course, many people will inevitably complain, but I honestly believe that the overall lineup is looking better than last year's and almost as good as in 2009, which was my favourite so far.
  19. Twisted Sister are a band that I've always wanted to see, so I'm more than happy that they've been added to the bill. According to Andy Copping, they will be playing below Alice Cooper on the second stage on the Saturday. Down will also be playing on the Saturday, but on the main stage.
  20. According to the official forums, three bands will be announced at around midnight tonight.
  21. In my game, Manchester City seem to finish second almost every year. Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal have all been champions, with Man City losing the top position on the last day on two separate occasions. However, they have won the Champions League once and the FA Cup three times, along with the Europa League in the first season of play.
  22. I'm a Notts County supporter, being that I was born in Nottingham and both my father and grandfather also supported the club for several decades. Unlike most fans, however, I also root for my other local team, Nottingham Forest. As far as I'm concerned, there are simply too many other Midlands rivals, such as Derby and Leicester, to warrant a civil war between the two Nottingham clubs.
  23. Even if McLaren's new car doesn't meet expectations, at least it looks very nice.
  24. I certainly think that this is Murray's best chance to win a Grand Slam so far, but I still don't think he'll have an easy day tomorrow. The big question mark lying over him is his mental toughness. As we've seen in some of his recent Grand Slam tournaments, he often has a tendency to suffer from mid-match lapses, particularly against lower-ranked opponents. This weakness was also highlighted during last year's final against Federer, albeit in a different way. On that occasion, I felt that the straight sets defeat didn;t tell the whole story as the balance of play was generally very close. The main difference between the two players came in terms of the pivotal moments. By that, I mean that Federer took his opportunities better, converting his break points and set points whenever they came up. Sadly for Murray, it was on those occasions that he wasn't unable to take advantage, and that was a key factor in his defeat. As a British tennis fan, I would love to see Muray win, and I definitely think he has the raw ability to do so. Whether he triumphs or not, however, will depend just as much on his ability to hold his nerve as it will on his tactical performance and that of his remaining opponents.
  25. Federer was definitely below his best during that match, but fair play to Djokovic, who put in a very good performance. I would like to see a Djovokic vs Murray final as they haven't met in a Grand Slam before, and it would also be nice to see Murray finally secure his first Grand Slam title. It's far from a foregone conclusion, though, as Ferrer looked impressive yesterday against Nadal. He hasn't taken a set off Murray in their previous hard court meetings, but I think that Ferrer will prove to be a surprisingly tough hurdle for Murray to overcome.
