  1. I always find this quite an interesting take, because it sort on infers there's a limit on what a Marvel film can be. I always approach Marvel films in the knowledge of what they are, and like I'm also fine with that, but I would actively like to see them take more risks. And I think they can afford to. I think we'll get more interesting films and a more diverse set of movies for it. Having been a bit deflated by Wandavision's descent into "full marvel", it's a shame to hear this might do something similar. That said, I'm in for it. I'll watch it, probably enjoy it, but I still think it's okay to want more.
  2. Kane's doing what he always does. He was popping up all over the pitch last night. When you can't get him the ball, he goes looking for it more. We've been able to get the ball to him more...and he's scored. Just Harry Kane things really. For what it's worth, this looks typically like when he plays himself back into form and fitness after an injury for Spurs. There's a few games where he looks like a shadow of a footballer, but you just have to let him play through it and he explodes. He'll be thinking Golden Boot now.
  3. what does Harry Kane offer this England team?
  4. He look bad in that City shirt and you know it
  5. ❤️❤️❤️ have some faith lads
  6. This thread is jokes - we all think we're shit, dull and that we should drop our best player. But we also fear no one and think we can do anyone. Proper England, this.
  7. I'd love a scenario where we play Portugal. I still want revenge for 04 & 06.
  8. Kane was decent yesterday; good hold-up play, better link up play, was good in the air and nearly scored. Looked much more himself. Looked much better with runners in behind and someone like Grealish to open up some spaces for him. Having seen Kane play himself into fitness & form enough times, he looked a lot closer last night and that 90 will do him good. Thought last night was fine overall, we scored and then managed the game. It wasn't great, it's not lots to get excited about, but still topped the group and played some good stuff in the first half. I'll take it.
  9. fuck UEFA, light those stadiums up lads
  10. Wouldn't you say that's also a systematic problem?
  11. Yeah, this looks suspiciously like Kane playing through an injury to me. That said, we're also not playing to his strengths at all. He's best with a runner in behind and Sterling likes to play wide more than directly running in behind, like Son does. We've got no one playing on the shoulder to drag players away from Kane to open up space for him. In this 4-3-3, with Southgate seemingly unwilling to unleash the fullbacks, I think we're not getting any other players close enough to Kane. There's so few overloads on the sides, and we only occasionally look like doing something when someone like Phillips breaks from the holding role and gives an option / extra man going forward. I mean, then look at the assists he laid on when we beat Spain. He's not having a good tournament whatsoever, but the "what does Kane offer" England is such an English way of thinking about a striker who literally just finished the season with the most goals and most assists in the league.
  12. I'd say Gonzalez is the third best left-footed Argentinian footballer currently playing football. Second First
  13. Be absolutely gutted if Brighton get Gonzalez over us. He's an injury-prone left-footed Argentinian winger who spurned a bunch of good chances the other night. He's perfect.
  14. Pretty sure EWB gave me Los Campesinos, who are my favourite band. Pip's a good shout too. Going to a Pip gig also gave me Keith in my life. So a real win-win.
  15. Portugal have so much talent in their ranks, and also coming through, I think they'll be fine. Bruno, Dias, Cancelo, Bernardo Silva, Joao Felix, Renato Sanches, Jota is quite a crop of players to have all in their early - mid twenties.
  16. Yeah, I'm the same. It's not who I wanted, but also if we're going to hire a DOF, we also need to hire a manager who he feels like he can work with and who can work in tandem together. Happy to reserve some judgement and just hope we're actually operating sensibly for once. Also he can have his two / three years and then we can have Poch back
  17. First Cow is one of the best films I've seen since the pandemic started - it's absolutely sublime, Kelly Reichardt is one of my favourite living filmmakers. It's so beautifully paced. I also thought a lot of The Killing of Two Lovers. It feels like the kind of film that would have real buzz if A24 was releasing it. Really well shot, really good music, really great performances. Makes for a tight, intense 85 mins. Being back in the cinema is the best.
  18. Heard rumours you've bid for JWP as well.
  19. best left footed Argentinian in the world
