  1. Watched all of Mo on Netflix, which I would say was hit and miss but enjoyed it. I really enjoyed the first half of the season but wasn't as keen on the second half as much, but still had some highlight moments. Reminded me that I need to finish the second season of Ramy because I was really into it before our Starz trial expired.
  2. The Apartment is my favourite film! Ace in the Hole is great and I'm well overdue a re-watch on that, but I think The Lost Weekend is on another level, one of the best films about alcoholism ever made. Wilder is a genius, he's got another bunch of films I don't think would be out of place in the 1001 list.
  3. Might be worth reading the trigger warning's before you dive in on this one.
  4. Spence supposedly played well in the first game too. Future's bright, always forget how young Sess is. It's a shame he hasn't kicked on the biggest way yet, he'd be handy for the senior team if Chillwell isn't fit for the WC. Think Perisic is gonna do him the world of good, though.
  5. I would definitely recommend giving Censor a watch, which is a pretty striking debut that came out last year. Ben Wheatley's lockdown folk horror In The Earth might also fit into this category. Ooh and Matthew Holness' film Possum. I would say none of these are mainstream, and some might not quite fit into traditional horror movies, but they're very much leaning into the genre in different ways. It's not quite on brand, but We're All Going to the World's Fair might be worth a look, less of a horror movie in a traditional sense for sure, but trying something really interesting.
  6. Haha, right! I definitely think you have to embrace the fact there's gonna be plenty of bits like that in these films, Cassavetes definitely has sections like that in all of his films, none of them are tight, they're all quite sprawling and rambling, but he does it all in search of getting to something true, which I think he does more often than not. I just always think you've gotta be in the right mood for them, Bookie is definitely one of the tighter films from memory, but it was one of the first I watched. That boxset is great! I would say Opening Night is well worth tracking down if you vibe with all this stuff, I personally think Husbands is a grotesque masterpiece and I'm also a big fan of Too Late Blues, which was one of his cracks at a studio picture instead of his usual independent stuff. Was actually reading a booking on Cassavetes semi recently and was watching a bunch of these films. Let me know what you think!
  7. Sunset B is just so good, Billy Wilder was something else. If you liked Killing of a Chinese Bookie, I'd totally recommend nearly all of Cassavetes' other films. I think they're extraordinary, or full of extraordinary things, some work better than others for me - can either find them a bit indulgent or just genius. Even when they don't hit, they're trying something, or filled with this independent spirit that's just captivating.
  8. I think it's been fine so far, but I'm enjoying that it feels like a TV show. I think a lot of the Marvel stuff has been confused about what it wants to be, but this totally knows what it wants to be form-wise and that's nice.
  9. Mini Messi's gonna have a blinder. Would legit love him back as a Kulu rotation, but it won't happen.
  10. The Martial, Sancho, Rashford front 3 looks much, much better than anything with Ronaldo in. Likewise, even Elanga in there with Sancho and Rashford looked much better than Eriksen playing false 9 or whatever. Thought United's left back was outstanding. Thought United were good value for the win but was so disappointed with Liverpool, who just genuinely didn't seem up for it. I know they've got a load of injury issues, but very used to seeing them play with energy no matter who is missing. So weird seeing VVD on that Sancho goal...what was he doing? Takes a special manager to win your first three games of the season.
  11. Felt like breaking the 4th wall for the sake of it, which I don't love, but it was an enjoyable half an hour of TV. Tatiana Maslany is great! Looking forward to seeing how it becomes its own thing, now that the fun prequel bit is out of the way. Fleabag spoiler.
  12. Outrageous fee for a 30 year old when they are supposedly tight on money, but he surely he improves them.
  13. Perfect finale. One of the best shows of all time.
  14. Apparently us and Forest interested. That'd be a club signing on our part, definitely not Conte. What type of player is he - I imagine our interest isn't overly serious.
  15. Sorry Stok, you were absolutely robbed yesterday mate 😭
  16. Been watching two adaptations of my favourite comics. I've really want to love it, but I'm struggling to get into Paper Girls so far. I'm going to stick with it, I think the casting is really interesting, it might just need some time to find its feet. It was always going to be a complicated adaptation, it uses music in the background all the time, sometimes just want to let the scenes breathe without it. I was really impressed with the first episode of The Sandman - so much felt lifted from the comic, and I think because I've always feared an adaptation, it feels faithful and well realised in that first episode. The cast is absolutely stacked as well. Really hope the rest lives up to it.
  17. Will happily watch anything David Simon serves up and We Own This City was predictably thought-provoking and engrossing TV. Maybe didn't hit as much as some of my favourites of his, but still glad to have watched.
  18. Would love to see Russo start the final, but we've not made a change to the XI all tournament. Keira Walsh has been our standout for me, dictates absolutely everything, she's been such a joy to watch.
  19. Yep, just super happy with whatever they serve me up this season, another great ep.
