  1. Zing! I hate taking over a team, halfway through the season in a country I'm completely unfamiliar with.
  2. May as well: New York over Washintgon in 7 Philadelphia over Buffalo in 5 Boston over Montreal in 6 Pittsburgh over Tampa Bay in 6 Chicago over Vancouver in 7 San Jose over Los Angeles in 5 Detroit over Phoenix in 5 Nashville over Anaheim in 5 Yeah.
  3. That's quite an improvement over watching my pisspoor Broncos taking on the pisspoor 49ers.
  4. No, Maxx, don't you understand? Anything that happens now is much more impactful than anything that happened prior to now. I really hate ESPN, sometimes.
  5. Loooooooooooooooooove both of Argentina's.
  6. I've found the only Association games I can stick with are the ones where I completely rebuild a team. I usually start with the Nets, Kings, or Timberwolves. Both teams have enough of a foundation that you won't be completely empty handed, but you won't just stroll into the playoffs like with other teams.
  7. Yeah, I tried posting that when the board was being funky. I think Griffey is the best hitter of our generation. Loved that dude. Wasn't thrilled when he was taking the Yanks staff deep all the time, but he is a true class act.
  8. I've spent this morning watching Cheers and Fawlty Towers.
  9. As a Tigers fan, aren't you always mourning?
  10. Yeah. We didn't look as terrible in the second half, but NYRB completely dominated us in the first half. We couldn't get the ball past midfield in the first forty-five to save our lives.
  11. While that's true, unless you're directing it yourself, what you're imagining in your head and what the director is going to create is usually going to be two different things. When you write a novel, you need to be as descriptive as possible when it comes to the setting and character actions. That's more of a directors job when it comes to film, though, unless it's something that is completely necessary to the plot of your story. You don't have to be a fantastic writer to "wow" someone with your script. You have to have a fantastic story.
  12. Well, my throat is scratched to hell and back. We sure as hell didn't look pretty, but damn it, a win is a win, and I'll take it. And the atmosphere at PPL was fantastic. Looking to go back next month.
  13. We've started Parks and Rec. We caught the last month or so on NBC without having watched it prior, so we're catching up. We also use it quite a bit for the baby so she can watch Rugrats, Blue's Clues, Backyardigans, etc.
  14. That's the beauty of screenwriting. You're just getting the skeleton of the story down on paper. You don't have to be the greatest writer around to do one. You get your story down on and let the director do his magic.
  15. But Edgar Martinez was a good enough bat, that had there been no DH, he would have played the field. It's not like Edgar Martinez would have been stocking shelves at Walmart were in not for the Designated Hitter rule. The guy hit over .320 seven times in his career, including one year where he hit .352 or .356 (can't remember off the top of my head). As for being a DH inflating stats, I can't argue. Hell, were it not for the DH spot, Paul Molitor wouldn't even been in Cooperstown, because over a third of his hits were as a DH. But that's exactly why I'm for it. It gives guys that aren't as swift in the field as they once were to still be productive for their franchise. And isn't that what it's all about? Are you this opposed to relief pitchers and closers? I mean, they pitch, and field, but they don't hit. It's the same, but opposite.
  16. Arggggh. As soon as we take Colon out, we give up two more runs. And I've already started a petition on Facebook to have the Red Sox championship voided from the record books. If you guys would like to sign check out: www.facebook.com/redsoxrcheatsandmannydoesdrugslol
  17. Dude, I've defended you in certain situations when people say your arguing skills are shit, but this is getting sad. Let's break this down. No, I didn't. I said his career wouldn't have lasted as long had it not been for the DH spot. Go back. Look over what I said, find where I said he was a great player, post it here, and I'll be more than happy to say you were right. But you're not. For starters, where, just WHERE did I say that he wasn't helped by having impressive offensive talent around him? I said I failed to see how that backed up your argument against the DH. Nowhere did I say that he wasn't helped out by that. Obviously that whole line-up was helped by each other. I do know baseball. I've played it my whole life and continue to coach it. It's been said that had Edgar been on a National League team, he would have played the field because his bat was too good to sit on the bench. The designated hitter has been around for over three decades. It's a part of the game, whether you like that fact (which clearly you don't) or not. But that's irrelevant, because it is part of the game. BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE TO BECAUSE THE DESIGNATED HITTER IS A PART OF THE GAME. See, I don't know what point you're trying to make. Had there been no DH, yes, the Mariners would have had to make that kind of decision. But there is a DH, and they didn't have to. The bottom line is you are still arguing that Edgar Martinez should not be a Hall of Famer based on him being a designated hitter when nobody said it in the first place. You're arguing a completely different thing than what anyone else has said.
  18. Shame Hughes shit the bed again. Colon has looked pretty good since taking over. Couldn't give a hoot about Manny the Uncanny.
  19. People reeeeeeeally need to calm down. Did I miss the memo about the season only being three months long? I have friends who are Orioles fans who are talking about how they're going to win it all. They clearly forgot what a hot start they were off to a few years ago, only to completely fizzle out after June. I have friends who are Red Sox fans who are demanding something be done, because the season is a week and a half long and they've yet to win a game. Have people gone mad and forgotten that there are still 150+ games left to be played? I don't ever remember people freaking out/celebrating so early in the season before.
  20. Happy Birthday, again this year, Hewey! :)
