  1. To be fair I think Brawn have simply given Button a car that really suits his style. He's a very smooth driver, you very rarely see him adjusting his line once he's in the turn, turns the wheel in, and then feeds it out on the exit. Compare this to some of the in car footage of Massa for instance, sometimes you see him make 2 or 3 turns into the corner before the apex. Button just seems to be a smooth technical driver, and the car responds well to this approach. I think the key will be if BrawnGP can get the investment to continue developing the car in the coming months and into next season, lest they get left behind as the other teams further adapt to the new rules. As for the 'Hype machine' on Button, he was stuck driving some woeful machinery in recent seasons, I think he would have had considerably more success in a McClaren or Ferrari, or even if Renault had kept him on from when he was there originally. Politics can have as much to do with a driver's success than just their talent. Remember Williams ditching Damon Hill when he was defending champion. He ended up at Arrows and only won 1 other race (with Jordan) in the remainer of his career.
  2. Lol at that! Do some research Mums and Dads! Anyway I thought it was fantastically realised. I think the ending was well thought out, it replaced the 'tentacled alien menace' with fear of another otherworldly force that united the warring nations. And we still got 'I put my plan into action 30 minuted ago', one of the best lines from the book IMO. I liked the graphic fight scenes. Especially when Owl and Spectre get caught by the gang in their civvies, and dismantle them. That was very realistic, and how any trained fighter would respond to that situation, disabling and injuring anything that came towards them, putting them out of the fight. By contrast it did get a bit flashier when they put their costumes on, but some good fight scenes throughout. One area I didn't give much thought to prior to watching it was the music. I did like the soundtrack, 'Ride of the Valkries' when Dr Manhattan is dismantling Viet Cong was a nice touch, '99 Red Ballons' anchored the film in the 80's quite nicely for me and any film that shoehorns 'All Along the Watchtower' into it gets a thumbs-up in my book. Gonna find an excuse for a second viewing I think. Oh and my Bro read a description of Dr Manhattan in Total Film I think it was as a 'Willy-Waving Super-Hero.' And was using it as much as he could when describing the film. He suggested a drinking game when it comes out on DVD, whenever the big blue helmet is on screen you take a shot!
  3. Always had a thing for Mrs Peel myself, if only I could finish that time machine in the basement....
  4. 1. Spider-man 2. Iron Man 3. Wolverine 4. Hulk 5. Magneto 6. Punisher 7. Doctor Octopus 8. Electro 9. J. J. Jameson 10. Power Pack :-)
  5. On the plus side I've not had any new signings take someone elses squad number yet.
  6. Oooooo-kay. I do drop the occasional f-bomb...sorry if it offended anyones sensibilities...
  7. someone care to PM me the link for this one? I like the sound of it but fuck spending £30 on it without a demo.
  8. OK, someone mind telling me how to access the editor? I installed this with STEAM, can only access it through STEAM and I can't find the editor the usual way. Wanna go in and change the fake files and make some changes (Beckham to AC Milan) before starting some EPIC games. The only files I can find in the Program Files folder would be the uninstall ones though. Feel free to call me 'Pants on head' RETARDED if you wish, but this has gone from one of the easiest games to mod to a pain in the arse. Cheers.
  9. How do you go about getting custom music on there for CAWS?
  10. Fuck it I'm off to play some FIFA...or find out who keeps sending titantron messages to Chris Jericho. What a bag of wank...
  11. What is with the ridiculously long install proceedure? I used t olike popping the new game CD in, watching it load, then firing it up. This one seems to want a signed certificate from God before it installs. Not impressed, was hoping this year we might have a relativly trouble-free release day!
  12. This bugs me just a bit. It was done simply but well in last years game. I agree that the game plays better this year than last but surely it needn't be at the expense of a feature that worked well last year? Just signed Michael Owen for my Spurs side in Jan and he's running around with #2 on his back, and that number was already assigned to Hutton at the start of the season. For a game that prides itself on detail (I think the kits all look awesome this season, and squads are as detailed as ever) it just seems weird that this was something that didn't come up earlier in playtesting. It's only a small feature but it is something that has the potential to knock the player out of his willing suspension of dis-belief (as if seeing my Spurs tonk Liverpool 4-0 didn't do that anyway!)
  13. Yep it is a problem finding free pics of her!
  14. Yep, short, fat mob-boss-type with a pointy nose and gimmicked umbrellas. Nolan could do him perfectly plausibly if need be. I'd prefer to see him as a supporting character in the next film though.
  15. Oh Pinky Lee is hot! I defy anyone to not like her.
  16. Well we can only see how it goes, I'll give it another couple of days to see who else joins.
  17. That said Sick N Twisted you might be obsessed dude, but those pics of Harmony Rose show you have good taste.
  18. Hi all, I've just re-discovered BATRACER on the net (www.batracer.com) an online racing simulator (basically think EWR but for race teams, you set up the car, decide your strategy, but stop short of actually controlling the car). There used to be some good games on here, though I must admit I eventually ran outta steam with them. Thought I'd give it a go though, I've set up a game EWR 2008 just click on the link and enter "ewr2008" to enter. People trying it for the first time will need to open an account with BATRACER to enrol, but don't worry it's free.
  19. Cheers Adam, I'm enjoying the game a lot, but after a bunch of my fave fighters retire I tend to lose a bit of interest, it'd be nice to keep them around for a bit longer. I'll have to fire it up with the standard data as well, it looks really well thought out.
  20. Is there any way to edit the factors that influence when a fighter decides to retire? I've been playing with the 'Modern Warriors' database, and guys like Couture retire 5/6 months into the game, Hendo and Chuck Liddell anywhere between 5/9 months into the game. Personally I think this is a bit unrealistic. Couture has a few more fights left in him (or he should do, having had nearly a year off), ditto for Hendo, and Chuck himself has said in interviews that he feels he has 2 more years in him, and even more beyond that (though his injury situation might change that). Is there any editable stat that might influence these guys to stick around for at least a year of game-time? Might knocking a couple of years of their starting ages help (unrealistic, but wouldn't mean much in the long run). Thanks in advance.
  21. And in certain circumstances that wouldn't be too bad a thing anyway. Inferno...see through uniform....ratings anyone?
  22. I first heard they were using a pool for 'Hang tough' and thought it might not ba a bad idea, but having watched it I think they are overusing the water element. I mean yes it works for 'Hit and Run' but I don't like the Eliminator starting off with swimming. Both times it allowed the 'losing' contender to catch up really quickly and kinda missed the point of them competing for points in the first place. Traditionally the travellator was the place where the losing contender could catch up, and that always made it interesting. Also did anyone think the Gladiators looked like they'd just stepped out of a fetish bar. It's really hard for me to take someone seriously as a 'tough guy' when they're wearing PVC. 'What are ya gonna do, break into a chorus of YMCA?' The old outfits were good enough, and looked much more like traditional athletic apparel.
  23. I started by thinking that the entire 'she's a clone' part at the beginning of the story was a bit of a cop-out...but the 'I've been a father before' speech made up for that. People kinda forget that when we first met The Doctor (played by William Hartnell) he was travelling with his grandaughter. People have suggested that Susan might not have been his biological grandaughter, that he'd picked her up as a companion and kind-of adopted her, but I've always liked the idea of The Doctor having had a family in the past, and the fact that they must have died in the Time War adds to his character.
  24. Felicity Kendall was sooooo sexy in 'The Good Life' you bet your ass there was some swinging going on there! And she's aged well. Still would. Marina Sirtis and Gates McFadden too.
  25. Leaving aside the right/wrong-ness of actually playing the games abroad...and apologies if this has been brought up already, but how is the 'extra' 39th game of the season going to work? At the moment every club plays one another twice (home and away) another round of fixtures means some teams will play one another a third time (albeit at a neutral venue). Last time I checked these games will be awarded points, which will count towards the clubs final league standing. So imagine say; Derby are 'drawn' against Arsenal for this 'extra' game. The Gooners thrash them in a match in Japan, both teams return home, and the 'normal' season resumes. Come the end of the season Derby are relegated by 3 points. If they'd not had to play this extra game they might have stayed up, or if they had been drawn against another team they might have won. Similarly if Man U miss out on the championship by 2 points, because they only drew their 'extra' fixture with, say, Man City, how will that effect the image of the league?
