  1. Since you don't really care on the stuff, NCAA '04 might be the better option: It should probably be around 8-10 bucks right now and since you have last year's Madden, you can upload college rosters to it.
  2. FFXI is a decent game for a play, but fair warning: It's not going to be like the regular Final Fantasy games (due to being console only, FF games can be much more story-centric. By contrast, FFXI's MMORPG status causes it to not be story-centric.) As a result, if you like MMORPG's, you can't go wrong, but if you dislike them (as I personally do), you'd be better off saving your money.
  3. Add to that one little extra stat that's somewhat overlooked: Every World Champion since the turn of the millennium directly defeated the New York Yankees in order to get there: 2001: Diamondbacks (beat Yankees in World Series) 2002: Angels (beat Yankees in first round) 2003: Marlins (beat Yankees in World Series) 2004: ?? (I know, not an impressive stat, but we need all the help we can get...)
  4. Short answer for it (and one I think a lot of the New England area will back me up): No matter who's playing on the field, who's coaching the team, sometimes, the good guys win. When that occurs, it's UNBELIEVABLE.
  5. Don't you know by now? Liking Wilco NOW doesn't prove your scene-ness. You're supposed to HAVE liked them before "they got popular", and now like something else that's more obscure. Come on, man- and you call yourself indie?
  6. Attack the Gas Station- 8/10. If you need to test how well a culture's film output is (in this case, Korea), you can't look at their action movie output, but rather how well they handle the cheesy teen movie-style fare. This movie passes that test: It's everything movies like Dude, Where's my Car WISH they could be like, and for that, it's a high recommendation for my "Please Yevon let one of my friends have a DVD burner and a spare DVD-R" list.
  7. According to The Simpsons Exposed book on this episode, the reason Jackson wasn't credited was that Jackson's record label didn't approve of it.

  9. Not sure if most of those songs have been released in America- if they aren't, try a couple of the "official" chart sites: They tend to also have at the bottom a list of the newer songs that are up for adds (www.rronline.com is one I prefer for that stuff- it uses the list from Radio and Records that they also use for the American Top 40 and allows a spot for stuff going for adds.)
  10. There's a demo of this game? Thank Yevon! I've spent most of the day trying to download a game to simulate the election for an article in my school's paper (only to find both real "election sims" made so far didn't work.) Hopefully, this will manage to work for me...
  11. When reading an article regarding this, the English major in me realized something- Dangerfield's trademark line ("I don't get no respect") is a double negative, meaning that they cancelled each other out (i.e. He does get respect.) Thankfully, the signs in this thread show that it was actually the truth. RIP to one of the all-time great comics.
  12. I'm not the only one who gets the feeling it's going to end up like this... Player: *attacks alien scum* Alien: "AH'VE FOUND A REEEEE-SON FOR MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE....TO CHANGE WHAT AH USED TO BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...." Halo fan: *dies*
  13. Reflecto, just like in EWR DON'T control-alt-delete. This ruins your whole game and is the reason why it takes so long. When I first start a game, it can take about 5-8 minutes to load up fully. Each day can sometimes take a while. Eventually it does get faster. >> If it was 5-8 minutes (like how everyone says, I wouldn't need to. When it takes over a half hour with no new stuff (including going to a white screen all the time), and one specific time when it takes over 3 hours to do- that's the time where you're an idiot if you don't C-A-D it...
  14. tee hee... 10...freaking...hours...I spent trying to play this game...no matter what I did, it kept not responding (usually at least 20-30 minutes without anything before I gave up, though in one case, it took 4 hours and STILL hadn't loaded...) To add to the fun, I tried to DL Promotion Wars 1.3 and got Run-Time Errors whenever I tried to play that... *sniffle* All I want is a FREAKING new sim game for a new challenge...is that so wrong? Is that TOO MUCH TO ASK?
  15. Hollywood Mogul- Nothing I can say hasn't already been said- excellent, Nascar: Chase for the Cup 2005: Not too terrible, but I think I played it out today (not a problem, since it's a rental...)
  16. I've actually managed to witness a Good Charlotte tribute album in the pre-owned bin of my local FYE, which leads to a whole new problem for these: If they're new, that's no problem: Theoretically, no one in their right mind would purchase it. With pre-owned versions, there's the inherent problem: 1) Somebody, somewhere, had to buy it (knowing how bad it would be), 2) That person would have had to, rather than break it, go back to FYE and tell the people, "Yes, I'm stupid enough to buy a Good Charlotte Tribute album"... 3) Having seen that, some FYE salesperson would have had to approve the store buying this monstrosity, then proceeding to put it on the shelves instead of destroying it in some proper way. Somehow, these things don't add up (or shouldn't...)
  17. 2nd of 3 "usable" playlists: 1) Jimmy Eat World- A Praise Chorus 2) Marcy Playground- St. Joe on the Schoolbus 3) Van Halen- Ain't Talking About Love 4) The Push Stars- Everything Shines 5) Van Halen- Dancing in the Street 6) Van Halen- Learning to See (probably a good time to mention that a playlist dedicated to the burning of their 2-disc set was copied to this, DRAMATICALLY skewing the deck...) 7) Marcy Playground- Sex and Candy 8) Liz Phair- Extraordinary 9) Santana w/ Chad Kroeger- Why Don't You and I 10) Van Halen- Runaround 11) G.Love and Special Sauce- Baby Got Sauce 12) Prozzak- Sucks to be You (*watches my street cred with Canadians plummet*) 13) Dave Matthews Band- Where are you Going 14) Supergrass- Pumping on your Stereo 15) 2 Skinnee J's- 3 Minutes 16) Liz Phair- Why Can't I 17) Jennifer Brown- 2 in the Morning 18) Maroon 5- This Love 19) O.A.R- Hey Girl 20) Chumbawamba- Tubthumping
  18. From the first of my many X-Box playlists (that could be used for this): 1) Spacehog- Mungo City 2) Dandy Warhols- Bohemian Like You 3) Green Day- Minority 4) Wallflowers- The Difference 5) The Calling- Adrienne 6) Baz Luhrmann- Everyone's Free (To Wear Sunscreen) 7) The Calling- Could it Be Any Harder 8) Stretch Princess- Time and Time Again 9) Barenaked Ladies- Alcohol 10) Barenaked Ladies- It's Only Me 11) Barenaked Ladies- It's All Been Done (fair spot to mention I copied a playlist filled with BNL to this playlist earlier) 12) Lifehouse- Hanging by a Moment 13) Live- The Dolphins Cry 14) Better than Ezra- At the Stars 15) Nine Days- So Far Away 16) Rubyhorse- Into the Lavender 17) Silverchair- Ana's Song (Open Fire) 18) Soul Coughing- Circles 19) Barenaked Ladies- Who Needs Sleep 20) Pay the Girl- Freeze
  19. To LowerDeck: That was already assumed in this one: It would be obvious that of all the franchises in the Massachusetts area (Worcester, Springfield, Lowell, Providence), only one of them could realistically survive in the market. Providence is the largest of those four cities, which when added to this market makes it the only one that could even have a fighting chance to survive if that were to occur.
  20. I don't know if there would be the problem of the AHL going as well if the NHL goes belly-up- the AHL played during the NHL lockout in 1995, for one. If it does, I wouldn't doubt a couple things would happen: 1) The players wouldn't be a problem- any NHL players who wanted to play would likely sign very quickly. 2) However, if this did happen, expect most of the AHL teams to relocate very quickly to major markets- only a few AHL cities could realistically afford to have major league hockey teams (Chicago, Toronto, and Philadelphia have both AHL and NHL teams already. Aside from those 3 (which would likely form the core of any "New" major league to come from the AHL), out of the 27 other teams from the current AHL roster, only San Antonio, Utah, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Houston, Milwaukee, Norfolk, Hartford and possibly Albany, Syracuse, and Providence could theoretically sustain a major league hockey franchise- thus meaning at least 16 teams in the AHL would relocate or fold within the first five years of them being the top league- not a very strong sign if they were to be the number one league in the US.)
  21. Just playing it, and my one problem with the game so far: I have no idea how the hell to import a talent file. I tried using the instructions, but HWmerge keeps saying it needs to be done in a certain area that I have no idea where to go from. Any help?
